- The military and animals have always had a close relationship - with the UK Armed Forces using dogs and horses to fulfill a number of roles for decades.
The Defence Animal Training Regiment is the start of the journey for the animals, with 1,400 animals passing through the training centre every year.
Forces News spent some time with the regiment to find out more about how the animals and personnel are trained to work together.

Being bit by those dogs hurts . Really hurts

Ow I hate dolls..... 🎎 Chucky
Especially if they give it a ‘catastrophic bleed’ poor old diesel
Waste of money. The search element should be part of the CRoysl Engineers and the horses should stay in London. The Brirish Army trains more Riding instructors and Farriers than the Army has horses. Waste of money.
They're going green.
All be on horses soon.
Lose the household cavalry. Keep the dogs.
Why do you say that?
Keep them both? The cavalry are an ancient tradition of our military history and played a massive role in the British military. Wether you like it or not for centuries our military deployed all over Europe and fought for our sovereignty on horseback. Keeping the great
tradition of mounted military going makes sense to me.
The dogs are brilliant too. I love seeing Belgian Malinois working with our troops
