My great grandfather was in the household cavalry during WW1. He said he was the only Scotsman. His horse, Dolly Grey was shot out from under him rescuing an officer. I still have his military medal.
I'd never trust a HCMR promotional video without clumps of Klear bombs on cleaning room celling- - And some of those young troopers had bigger moobs than Haitch HJ.
Same with the bands imo. Although I’m unsure of their current pay structure, RAF bands used to be high pay band. Turn up, play a trumpet, knock off. Get paid very well to do it, and no have no real military benefit. Should be civilianised and rented in when needed like other countries do.

The millions spent on the pomp and pageantry, salaries, upkeep of the horses, maintaining central London military establishments…all paid for by a few tourists sipping a Starbucks in the rain? You know some peoples “lived experience” is sub standard accommodation, no heating, cold showers and generally rubbish food. You could scrap all this pomp and shine and genuinely improve the living experience for the actual proper military.
What a waste of public money. Give the show over to a theatrical company to make a profit. The MOD needs to be MODern. You know - tanks, jets, practical kit for the soldiers and sailors. I know they already exist but there could be more. The UK can't rely on the USA to defend it in future conflicts.

There's dedication to duty and pride in self and service. But beyond this, they don't 'give their life to polishing in the army', they're soldiers first and foremost, and many will have done time abroad, in actual combat.
