@chreisyAFNF5 I agree. Being that close to the tenors probably jacked up the sound from the snares. It sounds like there is more dirt then there probably is. Blue Devils can grey some stuff up but not that much...oh, and the reason they ever get grey is because it's really REALLY hard notes.
@saidincontent not saying that the tenors arent amazingly clean but i think they sounds THIS clean cause the mic is so close to the far right tenor so were hearing that one tenor a lot more than the others
@christiansmithalone what I'm saying though is that pearl tenors have a specific range at which they are most resonant. For example, SCV's tuning. Very resonant. The way Scott Johnson tunes tenors sounded much better on Dynasty's drums. and more in tune.
pearl tenors can't handle the way scott johnson wants them tuned. they should've stuck with dynasty, much more resonant at those pitches. I would love to hear those heads on a set of dynasty tenors.
+Joel Horvath It supposedly works better for quads than a regular matched grip, most of the top lines have been using a french grip on their quad lines. But, they're not being incredibly strict on the grip it seems.
its pretty funny. every year in MACBDA, every band's drumline has copied at least one visual from DCI the previous year. i'd probably do the one at 1:30
@drummer4life2014 Why would they break they dont really break as much my school breaks more other heads on the tenors more than the spock drums which are tunned really high like in this video
@dmickey619 That is cool you met Scott he seems real nice. But tuning is all opinion, and I have heard them live and it sounds no better....I will say I have never met someone who has said they liked the tuning. Dynasty was better but I still didnt like it
Those heads just are not very good, they dont translate on the fiels at all durring full battery moments let alone ensemble. They be better for indoor. to dampened for corps.
Why's is it that BD gets amazingly clean tenor line so early in the season, and then they're just perfect by finals?
Amazing notes.

Scott Nelsons hands are majestic. Like a unicorn.
Unicorns don’t have hands
I hate how at the end, they act like that was nothing.
Screw you, Blue Devils.
...........I love you.
i cant get over the snare buzz rolls. so fucking tight.
tenors are the shit too
Space Chords at the beginning = awesome
those heads sound so much better than their remo equivalents
@saidincontent not saying that the tenors arent amazingly clean but i think they sounds THIS clean cause the mic is so close to the far right tenor so were hearing that one tenor a lot more than the others
awesome stick heights
fivepacdad...
i love you. for getting all these amazing tenor vids of this quadline.
More to come soon?
Is it just me or do those rims on the tenors seem really short
Its a combination of pearl rims being shorter than others, and the heads being very tightly tuned.
round 1...fight
round 2...fight
finish this! haha gotta lov BD!
Blue Devils: I love you :)
lol, thumbs up reflection at the end is classy
Anyone else notice that when BD made the switch to pearl from dynasty, SCV made the switch from pearl to dynasty at around the same time?
Wrong.
yes it is. Either they are just tuned really low, or crappy and you need new ones. Or new heads.
how did they get those pearl rims like their old dynasty rims?????????????? they are so low i wish my pearls did that :((((((
Got those chop outs, I see.
@christiansmithalone what I'm saying though is that pearl tenors have a specific range at which they are most resonant. For example, SCV's tuning. Very resonant. The way Scott Johnson tunes tenors sounded much better on Dynasty's drums. and more in tune.
@MikeySpooner1 I like BD's tuning.
i really wish they would go back to either yamaha or dynasty
Finish this. xD Awesome.
@KonguAwesome In the stick holder thing on the side of the drum. Ralph Hardimon Chop Outs.
Scott nelson is a boss! !!
@KonguAwesome Oh wow, ahah. Learn something new every day :3
where can i get the music for this?
pearl tenors can't handle the way scott johnson wants them tuned. they should've stuck with dynasty, much more resonant at those pitches. I would love to hear those heads on a set of dynasty tenors.
dont u guys play dynasty percusion instruments?
does everyone have drum keys in their bags, or just that guy?
@BlueishDevil they sound pretty....
ok so im new to this but doesnt some of this sound like 2012's show?
Denzal Martin I was thinking the same thing
Hahahahaha. "Round one...Fight... ...Round two...Fight... ...Finish This."
Do they use french grip tenor wise?
+Joel Horvath It supposedly works better for quads than a regular matched grip, most of the top lines have been using a french grip on their quad lines. But, they're not being incredibly strict on the grip it seems.
No one uses a French grip except for some timpanists. It's between French and German and is known as American grip.
@BillXHETASXCook all there hands are great ha
its pretty funny. every year in MACBDA, every band's drumline has copied at least one visual from DCI the previous year. i'd probably do the one at 1:30
My tenors at my school don't sound like this. They sound like toms. Is that abnormal?
lispyhipster really depends on the model of tenors that u have
@drummer4life2014 Why would they break they dont really break as much my school breaks more other heads on the tenors more than the spock drums which are tunned really high like in this video
@MikeySpooner1 Phantom Regiment is the only way to go on quad tuning
@dmickey619 That is cool you met Scott he seems real nice. But tuning is all opinion, and I have heard them live and it sounds no better....I will say I have never met someone who has said they liked the tuning.
Dynasty was better but I still didnt like it
and look how damn shaky those drums are on the Pearl stands...man I&E isn't going to be the same anymore either
@LAKings0101 dude its just my opinion, its not like I said anybody else's tuning sucks.....
Yeh. No rims is definitely where its at! For real ;-p
@dmickey619
The heads are a little old and dead.
tuning is horrible, dynasty-pearl-yamaha-premier, it doesn't matter. BD's quad tuning has always been bad
there is no rim on those drums. lol
Damn, this early into getting new pearls, and look the tenors are already unlevel....tsk, tsk. Dynasty for me!!!
haha. shot 4, mute 3
@saidincontent to make up for the crappy snares
thats why they hit no rim, cause there tenors are so dang reefed lol
Those heads just are not very good, they dont translate on the fiels at all durring full battery moments let alone ensemble. They be better for indoor. to dampened for corps.
Lol that year the snares were terrible. 2012 was the best year for snares since 2010.
