    Celebrating a divorce is pretty common… definitely when it’s from a not so great person

    That boyfriend really confuses me, I pretty much always get the same thing as my brother at restaurants cause we like the same things, there’s no reason for the boyfriend to throw a fit about it

      The only reason to be upset is if he assumed he could taste your food.

    S1. The op offered enough comfort. They technically strangers. Op comfort her for hours and nothing change if not it got worse. It might be best to look for future roommate changes for next semester because roommate might hold it against op or even blame op for the break up. Sense the he probably broke up with her for "cutting him off."

  • @Musicalsfangirl
    @Musicalsfangirl ปีที่แล้ว +37

    The roommate in the first story sounds like she got dumped because she was so clingy and always on the phone with him. And also maybe because she’s an attention-seeker, she’s giving me that kinda vibe, especially after she’s shunning OP for not giving her the attention in the middle of the night before an important day for OP, she saw it as putting studies and college work before her, which anyone else would have done.
    On the ordering the same dish story, this boyfriend is acting just like a 3 year old. At that age, they think they and they alone can like something (toys, tv show characters etc) and I have to remind them that it’s a good thing if someone likes what you like as you can play/talk about those things together and become friends.

    The SIL was acting in a selfish manner & you're correct when someone picks the same that they're making a big deal over nothing.
    Keep the good work Ellen.

    So, what if 2 people sitting at the same table order the same thing at a restaurant? My brother occasionally gets the same thing as me when we go out to eat sometimes, and I don’t have a problem with it. Recently, we went to Red Robin and we both decided to get the scorpion burger. The only difference is, I didn’t get any tomato on mine because I didn’t want it on my burger, and I got the garlic fries while my brother got the sweet potato fries.

    Last story.
    I read the original post in Reddit and decided to stalk her account a little. Most of her posts just show how immature her husband is. They've been married for 20yrs and the hubby is almost if not 40. He's careless financially, he spends thousands of dollars buying toys. Which 40 yo whines about his birthday MONTH??

      I'm wondering if he's Autistic or special needs? I'm Autistic and while I'm not like this, i know others that are. They can't eat what others eat. I blame his parents for never teaching him and letting him be like that. I would never put up with it. We can't always have our way, and who says people can't eat the same thing?

    From a person who celebrated my divorce yesterday night.. i 100 percent agree that celebrating divorce is fine. For me.. it was a person who left me after 12yrs of relationship, with one child.. he was a chronic abuser and had multiple affairs. So yeah.. i will celebrate my liberation from that toxic life and work on my PTSD that i developed from the abuse.

    Story 1:NTA, being broken up with over text is a horrible feeling, I've been through it once, nobody deserves that, op was being a good friend and comforting Donna, she was being nice too in saying to get some sleep and they'll talk in the morning, Donna wasn't thinking rationally and op needed sleep.
    Story 2: I'm gonna have to say YTAish, while being divorced may seem like a good thing to one family, depending on how the spouse acted, it could be something worth celebrating. However, to other people in the ex's family, they might've not taken the divorce well.
    Story 3: NTA, SIL and her boyfriend were overreacting, you can't gatekeep what you want to eat, why is it bad for someone to order the same thing you want to eat.
    Story 4: NTA, is the husband 5? He can't heat up his own food? He's either using weaponized incompetence or just lazy, he just wants a maid/second mother, he doesn't see his wife as a partner.

    4:50 "Real classy"? Anyone who's just taken out the trash will celebrate it. Some people hold actual parties. Perplexed about the "picking the same meal" story. Unless everyone USUALLY swaps plates half way to try out someone else's food (erk!), or maybe it's a Chinese type banquet where variety is the "order of the day", or, as OP said, they only had one left of whatever, there's absolutely no unwritten etiquette rule about not ordering a different dish. In fact, if someone has been to that restaurant before, and says the "whatever dish is amazing" more than one person will order it. Does BF think that the Chef will get bored and do the second plate completely substandard? Only give the best steak to one customer per table? ha ha ha ha...

    What IS it with all these MAMA'S boys who can't cook for themselves? 'Oh, you are the WIFE. YOU are supposed to cook EVERY meal for me.' SHUT UP!!! MY mom ran a restaurant, and I took care of the baby, so I never learned how to cook, like the other kids did. But when you are the only one in your HOUSE, you quickly find that it's not that hard: throw meat into pan, turn on burner, take it out when it's done. If you need help, BUY A COOKBOOK. 'Wife' does not equal 'slave'. Man up.

  • @tasmou
    @tasmou ปีที่แล้ว +2

    last story doesnt want an s/o, he wants a mom 2.0. Jeez, people do acts of service out of love, its not mandatory. Let him cook and reheat his OWN leftovers. Also what the hell does it mean to be extra loving cause its someones "birthday MONTH".....

    For story 2, I can maybe understand if you were rubbing it in in the ex's face about the divorce but they weren’t. They didnt know the ex's friend was working there and they werent rubbing it in in the ex's face either. OP's brother just got away from what seemed to be a toxic partner. I think thats something that should be celebrated

    I’ve commented this on another video of yours before but I’ll say it again because it still baffles me. How do these people (especially the women in these stories) get into romantic relationships with these kinds of trashy immature people?! Like, surely before you start dating or marrying them you have some knowledge about the kind of person they are, right?! Are they finding these people on blind dates? Are they ignoring the signs until it’s too late? Was there SO just good at hiding their true nature? Did they get manipulated? Did they just not care about their SO being a trashy person? Please… someone explain to me what’s going on here… I’m so confused and concerned for these people…

      @valeriebrathwaite8541 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Also, if he thinks she ruined his 'birthday month', so he doesn't want to go, now, and she's already paid, she should go without him--and have FUN. Apparently, most men are petty little FOUR-YEAR-OLDS who must always have their way; the quickest way to settle the problem--one way or the other--is to out-petty them.

  • @riel4553

    So I googled the "order the same thing at a restaurant" issue to see if another culture thinks it's wrong (Over here what usually happens is that the other person says 'that sounds good, I'll have that too!) Apparently no, there's no ettiquette rule against it; an article from FOX news came up, about the Bidens ordering the same rigatoni dish and even the FOX expert agrees, it's no big deal.
    'Couples on a date might try to order different things so they can try a bit of both', that's all it said.
