    Whether you were a fan of Revere's or not, you've got to admit.. he never let his fans down. He kept them laughing, or rockin-and-rollin. He also contributed to veteran's causes.
    Rest In Peace, Paul.

      Paul a legend here with The Late Great Carlo Driggs who was the BEST LEAD SINGER of The Band. Mark Lindsay could not have the soul, emotion, vocal range & stage presence of Carlo. Along with Doug Heath, Ron Foos, Danny Krause, Omar Martinez, & Paul they were the BEST MOST TALENTED MEMBERS. THOSE THAT INSIST THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS WERE THE BEST HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE AND ONLY CLING TO NOSTALGIA. THESE GUYS SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME ALONG WITH FOUNDING MEMBERS. THEY WERE WITH PAUL LONGER THAN ANY OTHER MEMBER. LOVE THEM THE ENERGY, FUN, AND MOST OF ALL THE TALENT. MISS PAUL & CARLO 🎹🎤🎙🎸🕇🌷🕇🌷🎧📻🕊💕

    It was a dark day when this Rock'n' Roll icon passed form this earth to the Home in Heaven. We will miss his great music and his fun personality, but Heaven will be richer for it.
    He is there now entertaining those whom have gone before us, and he will be there to entertain us once again someday. I was there from the beginning, have all of the original band's albums and have loved them from day one. Their music, their fun on stage; and, if you have ever been one of the lucky ones who had one of his three-cornered hats sent flying out to you from stage AND still have that hat, you have truly been blessed for it! Their music was always so fun to dance to also. RIP Paul and hope to see you on the other side someday. God bless you for the legacy you have left us.

      And I hope my Raider-show friends who have already gone ahead of me will remember to throw an extra sweater across a chair in the front row for me, the way I did for them in the earthly realm. If not, a good show is just as good from the back row as from the front ... but you won't catch a Twinkie!

      Judy Willox I saw them several years back I Reno. Even went to his funeral here in Boise.They were very fun to watch, an entertainer, he was, but that does not get anyone a ticket into heaven, at least, not the heaven spoken of in the Bible. Jesus said you must be born again, that is, receiving a new spirit from God. Seems as though most people think they will go to heaven because they are a good person, you, made people laugh and have a good time. But the bible says the path to heaven is very narrow and road to destruction is very wide. I've spent a lifetime getting to the bottom of this. I suggest that you start the journey of finding out, if you are at all concerned about what happens to you when you stop breathing.

    We saw Paul Revere and the Raiders @ Hot August Nights Reno, NV just after Paul had finished his "Ride to the Wall" commemorative album. Paul would lead a large group of Veterans and fellow motorcycle riders to the Viet Nam Wall in Washington, D.C. for years. These songs were from the Viet Nam era; before PR & R started playing that night, Paul recognized ALL of the Military Veterans in the crowd. Throughout the night, PR & R covered the entire Ride to the Wall album bringing tears to many of those in attendance. And yes, he also carried on his usual slapstick humor as you see here.

Warm up for the Righteous Brothers and everybody left after being regaled by Paul Revere and the Raiders. I have been to shows in Vegas, Reno, Florida, Los Angles. The best entertainers. First saw PR&R when they played a dance at my high school in 1962. In '63 & '64 they were playing in venues all around Portland and Seattle. Usually cost about a buck and a half to get into Armory dances during the summer. Saw them in Vegas in the 80's. Went on a couple cruises with them in the 90's. The last time I saw him was 2005. RIP Paul. The Raiders belong in the R&RHOF.

      The first time I saw them was in 1963 at an Armory dance in downtown Spokane. The next time I saw them was in Reno in the 80's. Paul lived in Reno and I used to see him driving around town in his black Cadillac with RAIDER 1 license plates. He owned a club in downtown Reno called Kicks.

    • @merriemisfit8406
      @merriemisfit8406 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One day around 1990, when Kicks was in its last year or so of business, I was waiting to pull out of the Target parking lot on Kietzke, and as the last car went by before a break I could use, I thought: "Man, the guy driving that car looks like Doug Heath!" And I pulled out into the lane behind a car that reminded me of the light copper-brown mid-70s Caddie my family had in the '80s ... and that car I was following had that RAIDER1 plate. Saw Carl Driggs with it a lot after that. (May The Lord bless your soul and keep it close, Carl.)

    Wow! What a fabulous treat!
    Thanx so so so much for sharing!
    I used to love to watch these crazies after school on Where the Action Is, and any other time they were on tv. I listened to them on the radio, and on 45s, 33s, 8tracks, reel-to-reels, cassettes, and cds. And, of course, on jukeboxes.
    Unfortunately, I never got to see them in person, so I really appreciate being able to watch them in wonderfully fun clips, like this one.
    To those who would campaign for Paul, and his crazy men, whom we all love, to be inducted into the RHoF, and bemoan the fact that they are not in it, and, oh, the injustice of it all, I say,
    Just Consider This ...
    Take a good long look at all the worthy performers who are Not in the RHoF, and you will see ...
    By Not being in the RHoF, Paul Revere and the Raiders are in pretty great company anyway.
    Those of us who know the genius of these lovely men, and who love love love them already know Paul Revere and the Raiders are The Best!!!
    RIP, Paul!
    Thanx, Gentlemen, for the magic, music, and memories.
    Rock on!!!

Tour for a few years and put on high energy shows like this night after night then you can critique. Been a drummer for more than 50 years and I can appreciate their effort and I was entertained. People like you are a waste of space. And I mean that. Just go the fuck away.

    As a close friend of Bill Medley's, we had them at The Hop where I was emcee several times! I was even part of a sketch with them once! HIs show was truly one of the Top Ten All Time Oldies Acts!
    GREAT TRUE STORY: Paul was known for abusing a mechanical monkey as part of his show! He broke a lot that way, so he used to have a storage facility crammed full of as many as he could buy. Sadly, there was a fire and he lost ALL his Mech Monk stash! Luckily, the music community heard about it and, knowing his show, raised enough to place many of what he lost... 🤩

    My only criticism of this video is that half the audio seems to be missing. The right channel of the original stereo audio was likely left out of the mix for this upload. Otherwise, I love this upload, and appreciate that the band introduction and "President Nixon" guitar solo segments were not edited out as they were in previous uploads.

    Just curious. It seemed that Paul seemed to favor "Baby Raider". Never even pointed the gun at him. Can anyone explain this? Not looking for trouble, just curious.

    • @merriemisfit8406
      @merriemisfit8406 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it was just a matter of Paul being a right-handed gun-pointer and Baby Raider standing to his left. Waving the gun to the right made it sort of an anonymous threat to the whole band, but to bring the arm around cross-body and aim it at Doug would have been kind of particular. When Doug came out to center stage, he was in the crosshairs too.

      55KatDaddy I saw this post from Burton Cummings on The Raiders FB page. It goes to your question..
      Paul Revere...Rest in peace...he was 76...I first heard Paul Revere and
      the Raiders on Winnipeg radio in 1960...it was a rockin' piano
      instrumental called "Like Long Hair"...it began with Rachmaninoff's
      famous intro and then took off...I never forgot it. I was eleven, and
      that instrumental single REALLY made me want to cut records. Through the
      years, I've worked several times on the same shows as the
      Raiders...they were the biggest group in the U.S. for a period of time
      in the Sixties. Songs like "Just Like Me", "Kicks", "Hungry" "Him Or Me,
      What's it Gonna Be", "Good Thing", and at least a dozen others are
      permanently etched in millions of memory banks. Rest in peace,
      Paul...you really left your mark...

    • @ronfowlermusic
      @ronfowlermusic 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes it is "Like Long Hair". Paul used to do a great version of "Great Balls of Fire" in concert, but "Like Long Hair" is the one he will be remembered for.

      That was the magic Vinnie... You weren't supposed to take them seriously. You were supposed to just enjoy the show. Imagine them just getting on stage and just playing their songs. Now compare with the performance they put on. Any idea of the practice to get the routines right? And they were having fun! Take another look at this top shelf concert and performance.
