I'm 24 and i said this same junk about my generation mane lol. The OGs used to have some type of lyrical consistency to their rhymes, even when they was str8 up being wicked on a song. When Tariq talks about Rappers doing or selling drugs, and the Consequence of it in a song, he's speaking about the 5th element of Hip-Hop, which is KNOWLEDGE. Most mainstream rappers dont "Kick KNOWLEDGE". Listen to Ice-T "New Jack Hustler" for the greatest example of that in a drug song !!!!!!!! Those bars are FIRE!!!!!!! Imma say it... Tupac not only KNEW Black Muslims in real life and family but he didn't just want a cartoon black Muslim character or even a black cartoon character and that was where the Hughes Brothers failed cause I saw Menace when it first came out and even got the Blu Ray disc years later so I could reflect on the theater experience and years later as a story the movie does have those problems which if fixed, could have elevated the entire cast much better than here is a bunch of "criminal black men and a black Muslim who hangs with them" and to go a bit further when the Wayans Brothers made "Don't Be a Menace..." not only do most of the parody characters turn into dumb cartoon characters to laugh at on a superficial level but that former Pac character of the black Muslim in Menace is portrayed as a hypocrite and fake black cause he wants the white girl but in a really cartoonish was which isn't that different from the movie character because there was no back story explaining him.
In other words the Hughes Brothers were making it seem like these characters were "born to be that way" and that is FALSE... cause there is back story of the pre-Civil Rights 1960s, post civil Rights 1960s and those riots which many have alleged were being orchestrated by a certain element of the police departments and politicians who never wanted to treat the black Americans like human beings... therefore there is a lack of humanity in Menace II Society and years later it kinda bothered me that the Hughes Brothers wanted to portray the main character as this "Disney next door safe looking guy who is really a mindless killer" in the way they cast him for his looks alone... and even if they didn't realize and it appeared to work... use your brain cause it is portraying the same image that a certain element of police departments and even Donald Trump has on black minorities who are underage especially when he paid all that money to have a newspaper splash page calling for the death penalty on five minority MINORS who were alleged by the police department to fit the description of the grape crime...
Remember that word, "alleged" it means it has not been decreed by a judge cause the legal case had barely begun so those five minors had their private information and home phone numbers revealed... something that if it was five blonde kids that looked like Trump who were from the suburbs and were alleged in the same situation then you would NEVER have seen the police department and Trump himself behave the same way cause they would believe those were human beings but the other ones were not... that is the problem with characterization and even if Tupac didn't explain it that way, having a back story (literally a flash back scene in one minute... sixty seconds if well written and shot) would have saved that character and saved the others by pointing out the disenfranchisement that was going on.

Cap on needing to rewrite the hold movie. Just 2-3 mins of dialog would done the job. Saying Sharif was wild dude like some of the other characters then he kill someone & went to jail which change his views. To explain why he he didn’t get life they couldn’t said it was ruled self defense & only had to do a few years . If you want to make it more detailed /make it more thought provoking then u say he had to kill a family member of his (cousin, uncle or brother) of his who was from rival neighborhood/group & by killing that he saved Odog & some other folks in the neighborhood lives. Really isn’t rocket science lol. Plus the Hughs bro on record saying PAC was one of if main reasons the movie got green lit in the 1st place so whatever character he was playing should’ve been half assed. Just from business/marketing perspective.
