Just installed this and I'm so happy. I used to rent a Virtual Boy from my local Blockbuster on occasion, played Mario Dream Tennis, Teleroboxer, and the baseball game on it.
Now I can play these games and 1) not get a headache/neckache, and 2) not isolate myself from anyone.

I would say the music in Waterworld is more than "OK-ish", to me it's up there with the finest of the Donkey Kong Country-tracks. But don't take my word for it, there's a few playlists of the OST here on TH-cam.
    Thanks for the enlightening video!

It's really amazing and satisfying seeing how that is working on too smooth at o3ds, I tryied it with red dragon and the emulation was so annoying at low fps. Regards from Brazil, you got my thumb up!

Every time I see the Virtual Boy pad, I wonder why they did not license Robotron for it. It would have probably been taxing for the eyes even more, but it would have made a nice addition. Anyway, VB on the 3DS makes totally sense, glad someone did it! 🎉

I first got a VB back around 2004 I think, and it came with Wario, Tennis, Red Alarm and Telero Boxer. I seem to remember I quite enjoyed Telero Boxer as it suited the controls and was fun if a little repetitive. In truth the whole thing was mostly a novelty, not least because it was a very solo experience as noone else could see what you were playing. It also ran on batteries as standard and ate them for breakfast, lunch and dinner so I ended up bodging a power supply for it that meant I could spend a bit more time damaging my eyes. The processing power was impressive for the time and like several failed consoles the promise was never really fulfilled - perhaps this new emulator will create more interest in it.
The last thing which is worth mentioning is that the whole project was overseen by the legendary Nintendo engineer Gunpei Yokoi, making it pretty much the only failure of an otherwise stellar career that was tragically cut short in a car accident. Rest in peace Gunpei, your legacy lives on.

That's cool. By the way, the Virtual Boy was quite a bit more powerful than a SNES. It even had a CPU with more MHz and more RAM than a GBA. Though the GBA CPU was a much more modern one. Obviously the GBA had more colors, while the VB had only four shades of "grey", like an old Game Boy. But the Virtual Boy had a higher screen resolution, apart from stereoscopic 3D of course.

Nice! You can also use a DS for playing Intellivision games.

Certainly a compelling reason to buy a 3DS.
At least Waterworld _looks_ cool. It has that "whooooaaaahhhhh" virtual reality look we were chasing back in the day. Probably best treated as a tech demo?

Nice demonstration, thanks.. do want! It is a shame Nintendo didn't bring these over themselves, I would've bought them!

does anyone here happen to know if this can work on a DSI and if not what Virtual Boy emulator I can possibly use on a DSI? I have been scouring the internet for days and still haven't been able to come to a decent source on if its even capable of running Virtual Boy games

I was about to comment that the 3D slider only works as on or off, but it seems the update from 0.9.0 to 0.9.1 fixed that.

Hopefully they’ve fixed some of the crashing issues too.

Virtual Boy doesn’t cause headaches. What caused headaches was a failure to properly adjust the IPD and slider.

That and how bad some of the games were.

Waterworld is not a terrible film, and the Virtual Boy was amazing for the time. There are a lot of conventional ideas about these two things that are flat out wrong yet carry on throughout the years for some reason, like a turd that refuses to flush. 🤔

hard disagree the virtual boy was not amazing for 95. it wasn't practically visible outside unless you were underneath some huge pine tree with an extremely dense canopy. the game gear from 91 was even better despite it eating batteries like crazy. if it had been released in 1990 it could've been amazing for its time .

@@ianswift3521 My 1995 self was quite amazed by it actually. The 3D effect was great and I loved the red/black visual style. Difference of opinions then.

come fai a fare il video dall'alto, inquadrando perfettamente la console?

I wonder if they'll do the same on Switch, considering there's a dedicated official VR headset to get the 3D effect, just like you can do currently in the Virtual Boy emulator for Android

Doubtlessly Nintendo-kun is going to sue these people.
