Need more storage on your Harley-Davidson? A Tour Pack, what you need to know!

- Adding a tour pack to your @Harley-Davidson dresser or bagger isn't hard at all, but everything can be daunting the first time you do it. A viewer recently asked that when I do throw the tour pack I got as part of my body rebuild using @Advanblack parts that I video the install and talk about the different sizes, etc. I installed a chopped tour pack on my 2021 Harley Ultra Limited today and so I spent some time talking about docking hardware, luggage racks, the differences between a razor pack, a chopped tour pack, and a king tour pack and how they become an absolute necessity once you have one. Side note I didn't mention, this video applies to all Harley touring bikes, so all the same for a Road King, Electra Glide, Street Glide, Road Glide, CVO, etc.

TCMT rocks on eBay….. amazing quality in my opinion, every bit as good as advan black. TCMT racks are sweet too.
You can actually fit two full face helmets inside a King pack. I was running a chopped pack with the Kuryakin high mount stop/tail/turn light. It mounts in the "slot" on the top and fits flush. I recently upgraded to a King, and the light moved with it. Also of note....The top is the same on all of them. The only change is the depth of the box. Great vid!

Haha you just described exactly why i dont run a tour pack haha i will have everything in it including the kitchen sink😅😂 but if i only ever run bags then i have to think about what I pack with me haha😅❤ plus the wife and i love the look of saddlebags without the tour pack 😊🤘we have never really been sissybar fans either though. We like the smooth streamline look of nothing on the back top.. the only time i used to installed the HD quick detach sissybad was when the wife would jump on the sportster with me and we'd go for ride for the day but she said she feels more comfortable leaning against me instead of leaning back anyways, which i understand, it helps her motion sickness 😊❤
hey, been watching all your videos since channel started, you mentioned old school guys so i had to comment, to me H-D ended in 1984 newest bike i own is a 1979 shovel. Rode my 1939 EL to Sturgis last year, plan to do it again this year. I get why you trailer out. I have been building old harleys ,engines,gear boxes etc. since i was 16yrs old. A LONG TIME because i'm old. I watch your channel not for the content but you & your wife seem like really good people, would like to meet ya some time.
Been thinking about a tour pack for my SG for a while....this was one of the final things that convinced me to get it AND you are totally the reason I ordered it from Advan Black. :)
I have the same dilemma, I'm going with the Amazon special $234 tpak with the armrest pad and a $62 mounting bracket all in for less than $300 and call it a day. I'll only use when she rides or a long trip. use my savings on steak dinners😆. great vid hope u find ur solution.
The liners are nice but expensive. I cut down a yoga mat for my Adventblack tour pack . Works great and didn't cost me anything. The chrome became a little discolored on the hinges. I emailed them a photo and they sent new hinges right out. A very good company that stands by their products. Thankd for the videos and keep the rubber side down.
In 2019 I bought a 2010 Road King. The previous owner didn't do much in the way of upgrades but he did do the quick detach docking hardware and a color matched king tour pack. IMO this is probably one of the most useful non mechanical things you can do. Even if you have a gigantic 5xl sized melon it'll hold your helmet just fine.

Great video! I installed a Hogworkz King tour pack on my 2021 RGS, bit I didn’t know about changing out the barrel lock and getting a new one from the dealer so I can use the same key as my saddlebags.
I agree 100%! I tore mine down to the backbone and rebuilt it.
Since then I have done three other bikes. I had no previous experience in tearing something down that far.
I look for a project to work on every winter now.

I also put the smaller pad on my king pack. Had to drill a couple holes for it but it worked, u just have to put plugs in the outside holes

Great Video and I wish that I had seen this years ago. Echo your thoughts on Advanblack components. Picked up a King Tour pack from them for my "former" '08 Street Glide. Had them paint it in black pearl which had a metal flake. As I I understand the metal flakes make it a difficult color to spay. They matched the color perfectly! Ordered a liner from them also and it was a perfect fit. In my opinion the liner is a much better product than the stock liners that come with the Harley packs. Didn't mean for this to be a sales pitch, but they have great stuff. Thanks again for the great content!
My dealer always has the 4 point hardware and smoked lens on both front and back signals. On my 18 flhxs I bought the king pak without speakers just for touring and no lights. After the accident I got my 21 flhx and the pak still fits. Cheers, 😎😎😎
I still have the king tour pack I bought for my ‘14 Street Glide. I’m looking for $1500 CDN + shipping. It’s got quick detach hardware. You’ll have to get the docking hardware installed on your bike. It’s barely used. Only put it on a couple of times. You’ll have to get it painted to match your bike, too.

My 07 Road King has a 2 point dock. All the bikes 09 and up come with a 4 point dock like you have.
My 2021 Street Glide Special did not come with the docking hardware. That was extra with the sissy bar. But had a hook that added that on plus a few other options.

My '21 Roadking Special did not come with docking hardware. Although, I bought it before it even got to the dealership so that could be why.

First thing thank you. My biggest issue is you can get the docking Hardware but they don't come in a set with the mounting plate for your trunk most the time we have to buy two different item they don't come as a package set that I have found

My 2020 Heritage Classic 114 didn't come with docking hardware on the rear. I had to full take off the bags to install an Amazon backrest.

I just bought a 2022 street glide special and no docking hardware. I had to take my old stuff off and put it on the new one. They don't even come with the filler plate anymore, just rubber plugs.
As for fingerprints, Fords techs sign the manifolds of their SVT. Maybe Advanblack should mark their parts with fingerprints! Ya think?

My only complaint about my AB tourpack is the latch on it is absolute garbage. Within 500 miles, the screws holding the latch to the bottom of the Tourpak had backed their way out and the lid flew open.

I have the king tour pack from Advanblack on my 20 RG. I have a solo seat and the pack is my backrest, so I would like a pad without the armrests! Any info on custom pads?
I wish they just included docking hardware but none of the dealers I work with in Colorado and Wyoming include docking hardware on the bikes.

Might have to do new holes, not sure... it would work though.
You can get a backrest for a King pak thats nothing more than a strip up the middle. It actually looks good as when the Mrs isnt on the back , you dont have the huge backrest look going on.
Will the holes line up or do you need to plug the old ones and redrill?
From what I remember , no drilling required if the pad is made for a tourpak

Hey brother, I really like your channel. I am a harley rider of recent and been trying to get parts for months. I keep hearing from everyone saying "they just aren't making them anymore." Then I see a video about harley going under. What are your thoughts? Is harley really "dieing"? Why is it so difficult to get ANY kind of parts from there newer models? I hope to see a video or at least a comment about this soon. I'd love yo hear your input.
My 2017 pre-owned came with no docking hardware. Got off Amazon for $27 instead of $167 through Harley

Really, an outstanding video...but I'd like to point out that there were one or two fingerprints lingering on the rack as you bolted on the pack. No biggie...just thought I'd mention it. I'll be OK...maybe won't sleep for a night or two...but I'll be fine...eventually.
Do you happen to know if that Raptor seat sits you back any further or is the position similar to stock?
Its maybe a 1/2 back, and that's just my opinion. Its close to stock seating position.
