    I've just finished printing a High frequency blade from metal gear rising, and now I'm planning to build an Ironman helmet, I'm glad I found your channel because you motivated me to buy a 3d printer and start creating things, thank you for making your awesome content!

    Awesome update. I'm actually in the process of building the same suit. It'll be my first full suit and so far the I've only had a few failed pieces (all good learning moments). You're saving me from a lot of future frustration with your assembly tips. Thanks so much.

    Thanks for all the information and inspiration. I have the same exact problem getting my helmet off, but fits perfect when wearing it so going to leave it as is. I Finally got my helmet motorized after combining and customizing a couple of the Crashworks kits (thanks for the videos on this). Working now on mounting the electronics and magnet mounts for the back of the helmet. I hope to eventually start printing the rest of the suit.

    4:18 Just the Photon Blast Pose? Wow!
    4:31 XD That jumpcut! That's a good one!
    7:30 I was thinking about a pinhole hinge. You have both parts of that leg with a "pinhole" and you just slide it into place. But then again, you may have to deal with spacing in that area.

  • @docgriff86

    Have you tried using an old tape measure for the heel flap? It will flex and snap back to the home position. I've used that trick for wrist parts but not feet... There is a lot more movement with that so I don't know how it will hold up but I painted it with black flex seal spray paint so the paint doesn't chip when flexed, then covered the side that goes to the skin with 2 or 3mm eva foam for comfort.

    Thank goodness for your vlogs, sir Frank! I spend too much time trying to figure out how to each piece was supposed to fit and sit! Little did I realize and because of your videos, each piece just sort of floats and it's up to each person to figure out how to get each piece to sit where it does 😅I even thought that the forearm piece was too too big even at 95%. Also, I know that you mentioned somewhere that the Mk 85 was based around a 6' tall person of "golden ratios." Any idea how tall a person the 100% scale Mk 39 would fit?
    Thanks for your time! 😀

    I'm currently building a Starboost MK 39
    And I have a quick question for you.
    Here is my question:
    I am 1.85 m tall, weigh 89 kg, have a very athletic figure (bodybuilding), at what scale should I print the suit?
    I would be very happy about an answer.
    Best wishes to you from southwest Germany, keep it up!😀

  • @0Defensor0
    @0Defensor0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't think Starboost was at any point designed for someone to be inside it unfortunately. First it was a barely animated puppet for a single scene, then it was a toy with limited joints. Neither of them is a practical starting point to be printed as a real costume.
    It is my favorite suit though, because of it's space theme!

    • @FranklyBuilt
      @FranklyBuilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it was though. Every suit in IM3 was a wearable suit. The design team had to keep that in mind when making the CGI models as all of them needed to house Tony if that’s what the script called for. They’re iron man suits; not iron man drones.

    • @0Defensor0
      @0Defensor0 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FranklyBuilt I don't remember the entire third movie right now, but I think there were like 20-25 suits at least. And the ones that actually were used by Tony looked more... classic shaped. Some of the extremely specialized suits were animated to be used in a single scene, while most of them just showed up to the party and become firework at the end. In the first 2 movies and Avengers they only had to design a few suits that looked mechanically plausible, but it would have been a huge waste of resources to properly design all of them for the third movie, when they know exactly which suits won't do anything at all. They had to cut corners somewhere, and unfortunately for us, that involved the actual engineering of the specialized suits.

    • @FranklyBuilt
      @FranklyBuilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean. I kinda get that? But I think you’re drastically overthinking this for no reason lol they’re iron man suits. Every suit. Mk1-85 was meant to be warn lol every single one. They’re all made to have a human inside. Regardless of how on screen proportions and superhero physique play a role into it.
