I'm diagnosing electrical issues with my '87 XL600R. Shouldn't your headlight be on when the engine starts? I'm still connecting the Rickystator and making progress. Nice video.
Hi,yes you are right,someone before me wired the bike differently.As a STD rule, once the bike starts,the headlight powers directly off the stator. Enjoy your 600 :).Frank
hi there I recently acquired A XR600R 1993 model, extremely difficult to start. I got it started after quiet some time kicking, managed to keep it idling long enough to get it into gear and take it for a ride. after that its completely dead. Any advise.
Hi,i assume it is a dual carb model,my suggestion is to change sparkplug first,D8EA if im not mistaken,clean out carbs and try again...cdi rarely goes faulty,neither plug coil...next stop will be stator replacement,also clean ALL electrical plug connections on wiring..let me know how it goes pls.Frank
@@FranksWay since I got the bike which has been a few days, I have tried kicking it with no luck. It started eventually after plenty kicks. Took it for a short ride and it stalled with the clutch in, and for two days now it doesnt start at all. I will tried what you have suggested thanks any advise on where and what stator to get. And what the costs are more ir less.
@@wesleyRoss797 Hi, ok clean out carb, also make sure the idler jet is open, a small jet next to main jet in a deep pocket, where do you reside? if it ain't carb,it's usually stator coil.
Hello i have a 1986 honda xl250r im trying to get back on the road i cant get the original headlight turn signal horn combo switch for the handlebars so i have a aftermarket one and same with the dash i cant get the original one so im putting a electronic speedometer dash on it but i was just wondering whats the white wire with yellow trace for that runs from the stator its tells me in the manual it gose to the high beam or low beam on the handlebar controls combo switch what dose this wire do please i still have a battery in the bike and the original ignition with a key
quick question? I have an 87' XL600R and I have rebuilt the motor with great spark, carbs have been redone 4 times so I really don't think that the issue. but mine keeps back firing and only backfiring any advice if you've run into this before?

hemos tenido el mismo problema de casualidad teniamos una cdi de la xl600rm y lo probamos y se solucionio...

Hi Frank , i have replaced the stator with a ricky stator ,but it seems to be overcharging at the battery 17.5 volts when reving , any ideas?
Yes,it is your rectifier that is faulty,pls replace.

And I'm putting led headlight on and led turn signals led tail and stop light on aswell just hoping to get some help please
Hi there, i would open switch and trace the wire color and connect it... hope it helps
