AJP PR7 THE LIGHTWEIGHT 600 ADVENTURE
มุมมอง 1.5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
PR7 Adventure 650 review I’m usually skeptical about the use of the word adventure. It can be found everywhere now - shoehorned into travel blogs, splashed across cruise ships, and even on ads for supermarkets, of all things. Exposure cheapens any word, but adventure seems especially lowered when attached to these mediums, or when sprawled across images of flaring sunrises or foamy waterfalls. ...
KTM 690 ADVENTURE - MISSING IN ADVENTURE
มุมมอง 136หลายเดือนก่อน
The anticipation for the KTM 690 Adventure continues to grow, as enthusiasts question its launch despite an eight-year wait. KTM maintains its stance that there will be no 690 Adventure, which is surprising given the booming popularity of adventure motorcycling and the surge of related content online. Many seek guided adventures across global terrains, yet KTM, known for its innovation, has not...
YAMAHA XTZ660 - THE ULTIMATE BUDGET ADVENTURER?
มุมมอง 171หลายเดือนก่อน
For a budget-friendly off-road adventure, consider building a “big trailie” bike on the cheap. Big trail bikes offer a unique thrill: riding hefty, powerful machines on dirt creates a challenging experience compared to lighter, purpose-built off-road bikes. However, many hesitate to risk damaging an expensive new bike. The solution? Purchase a used adventure bike. By spending wisely-ideally und...
KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R - LONG TERMER
มุมมอง 172หลายเดือนก่อน
This was meant to be a dirt test. We’d gone to the magical Isle of Man to ride the awesome Adventure Spec Challenge IoM500. That’s 500km (over two days) of off-and on-road adventure riding fun, all part of an ongoing roadbook rally competition. Only here I was on the famous TT course barreling down to the bottom of Barregarrow Hill at a modestly quick 85mph looking at the blind left kink at the...

After a season on the KTM 1290, the author tried BMW’s 2019 R 1250 GS Rallye TE, a high-end model with advanced features like electronic suspension (ESA) and dynamic traction control (DTC). With stricter Euro 5 emissions standards approaching, BMW responded with a power boost from 123 to 136hp, though still trailing KTM’s 160hp. The power increase is achieved through a larger engine capacity (1...
MIDDLEWEIGHT ADVENTURES - BRING BACK THE 600 SINGLE?
มุมมอง 3.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Older adventure riders often yearn for iconic bikes from the 80s and 90s, such as the BMW R80G/S, Yamaha Ténéré XT600, and Honda Dominator. These early models were simple, air-cooled, with carbureted engines offering modest power but great off-road capabilities and easy maintenance. In the 90s, liquid-cooling and added comfort emerged in models like the BMW 650s. However, with the rise of super...
KTM 690 ENDURO R Trail or Adventure?
มุมมอง 1.2Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The KTM 690 Enduro R’s revival is a win for trail riders in an adventure bike-dominated world. With its smoother motor, Quickshifter , cornering ABS, and modern WP suspension, it updates the classic 650cc single-cylinder trail bike. Although lacking in gadgets like TFT screens and heavy luggage capacity, it excels in off-road performance. Weighing 146 kg, it strikes a balance for technical trai...
Evolution of The Rally Bike
มุมมอง 2882 หลายเดือนก่อน
In the past 15 years, rally bikes in the Dakar Rally have evolved significantly. Veteran racer Si Pavey notes that rally bikes have transitioned from heavy, fuel-laden machines to lighter, agile models with half the fuel capacity. Modern desert bikes now weigh about the same as the Suzuki DR-Z400 and carry only 25 liters of fuel, enhancing performance. The defining rally bike feature, the enclo...

Typical "carpet bagger" style tutorial: lots of talk less doing, did not see any oil filter change! Is it actually about promoting selling oil hoses?
So glad I found your videos. I've had more problems with my iPhone than my NC.
Fantastic job mate. Really well done. Cheers from NZ
Just one note: PR7 is only homoglated for the rider, no passenger pegs.
Thank you for the comment. 😉
That looks good, Frank! I think the 19" front fits the bike well.
I fully agree with you yes.
Looks really good. In one of your longer videos can you talk about how you changed the NC’s front brake from single caliber/ single disc to dual calibers and discs? Trying to understand how we would do that on our own builds. Thanks
Ok i will do so thank you
@@tommykelly5417 yes please, it's very interesting.
You are making history!
Thank you 😉
What horrible AI crap is this video?
Yeah...i am not always a fan of AI as well..😉
why not just buy an adv bike????
Where's the fun in that ?
I don't do mainstream, i build the bikes i want..these do 35 to 38kmpl fuel as well..did i mention the 21L frunk where the tank usually is 😉
Agreed
Loving the progress, can't wait to see how you sort out the abs head ace. The abs is the only thing stopping me from going ahead with my modification on my nc. All of the best and good luck with your project. I know it will come out great.
Thank you, every new project is a challenge..to be conquered.
Ciekawy film.Pozdrawiam.
Thank you
thanks!
Cheers 👍
👍👍👍
Nice one Frank, be good to see the progress 👍 A question for you Frank mate.....would you know which other 18" rear wheel would fit the RD04 without changing anything except the sprocket? My rim is slowly rotting in places and I'm finding it hard to find a D.I.D rim at a good price so thought I'd ask if you know of a solution. Cheers Al
Heya.. did you try excel rims already? Whatsapp me a pic of your rim sprocket side to +33754221212 and i will check what would work for you.
👍👍👍
Cool, another build 😊
Thanks
Amazing, any more videos with the bike?
I am currently busy building the 3rd one, more videos will follow in a few days.
24inch socket , inch sux
How difficult was the front end conversion? Was it just a case of mounting the new forks and wheel and then connecting the brakes or was it a case of changing the abs module as well? Id be very interested in doing a mod like this to mine to make the bike taller.
There is some work required, build 3 will start in Dec 5th when the bike arrives, i will explain the details of the build in video..
@FranksWay thanks appreciate it. Will definitely keep an eye on the progression for build 3.
Thanks

Hey Frank, as you will have seen on my Facebook post, I just bought a 1992 RD04 Africa Twin! I really enjoy a nut and bolt restoration and will be stripping the bike right down for a full refurb and rebuild. Cheers for the info, very helpful!
Pleasure John, enjoy that RD04.
Hi Frank. Do you have details of the software your using? Thanks from Ecuador
Just watching the othjer vid now. Thanks
Hi...i use the cable frim Lonelec in the UK and the software i download free...will have to check name tho...search for it on lonelec.com site i think
Thanks bru 🙏
Would be an absolute beast with the turbo kit 🤙🏼
Yep...
Magazines weight this AJP at over 400lbs, so lightweight can be subjective. AJP claims a lower weight.
Thanks for that
Well done!
Thank you
Much Enjoyment 👍😎
Will be my next bike!
@skulijakobsson5116 great!! 😉
The bike is more than capable of long distance on tarmac, you just need to adjust your speed to 65mph and avoid motorways. The engine is a Husqvarna te630 , which was an Italian Husqvarna merge of the cagiva and husky fourstroke. The dohc and head of the te450/510, it is a strong reliable engine with a nice wide ratio six speed box. The lack of centre stand is easily overcome with an easily available snapjack.
I agree...we need to notch back speed just a bit on open roads, i still think the better bikes are singles up to 600cc...purely for weight reasons!!!. Thanks for your input.
@FranksWay absolutely, light is right, CCM nearly had it right with the gp 450 adventure, 126kg dry, but chose the wrong engine with the bme g450x, ironically they use the swm/husky engine in their spitfire range, but failed to transfer it to the gp for some weird unexplainable reason
@GarryMorgansmith 126 kg is damnn good...i will be looking at a DRZ or Domi for my europe travels soon....with upgrades of course..or a TA on a huge diet.
My 21 690 is kinda that way. 75mph the bike seems happy, once wind protection for the rider is in place. But at 65mph it is very relaxed.
Hi there great video, so year do you reckon is the best to buy?
I own the 2010 990R...apparently the 2012 was a great year, i guess they sorted out issues in the later models..💪
This beautiful bike is not sold in my country. Hopefully Yamaha or Honda take a look at this design and remember the beautiful big bore thumpers they used to offer that their customers still long for.
I agree...why dont they ship to worldwide markets?
Hey Frank hope your well bro 🤛 The AJP is reminding me more of the nc700 but don't ask me why it just does 😉 I'm curious to know what standard tyres these new bikes are fitted with as I'm looking for a pair of good mainly off road tyres for my RD04 in preparation for a super long mainly off road trip around Spain so any info when you have a minute would be appreciated 👍
I always stick with Anakee wild front 21 inch and your choice of back tire...TKC comes to mind on rear...enjoy your trip!!
@FranksWay cheers Frank, I just googled AJP standard tyres.....continental tkc 80 twinduro as standard and look a good choice cheers
Have fun bud
Hey FranksWay - my 2007 990 superduke blew its motor. I'm looking at purchasing a 2011 SMT 990 motor and installing it. Think this would work? I know the gearing will be different. Engine cases, cylinder heads, and pistons are the same part numbers. SMT 2011 has a new ECU, dashboard, wiring harness, but the 2011 SMT engine should plug and play into my 2007 Superduke? Any help is much appreciated
Heya..i have never done this swap, why not rebuild your existing motor with a donor engine (lc8) platform? Or is the thought of stripping it down and rebuilding it too scary? Where ate you based?
Yes in deed as I spent a lot of time deciding that the DR 650 was the bike for me. Time has proved that it was a very good chance. One has only to test a bigger bike to see you do not have the agility. Big power is not really an advantage unless you are only road going.
I fully agree with you...singles make a lot sense to me, especially the ones with the least amount of gadgets
Thanks for the analysis! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
No idea bud 😁
Love it Frank. Keep em coming.
Will do 😉

Agreed
6:50 AJP PR7 saddle is excellent. Thin but top quality high density foam that feels super comfy.
Nice to get some feedback on the AJP 😉😉
@FranksWay I was very surprised seeing the bike from close. Excellent quality and ergonomics. Did not ride it but sitting on it felt uniquely comfortable. Reviews also mention that the seat easily outruns the fuel tank.
@constantinosschinas4503 i love that look on the AJP...💪💪
@@FranksWay It looks trully amazing from up close. The tablet is also removable with a little kit i think.
@constantinosschinas4503 nice!!
Living in a small island in Greece for 7months a year and Athens the rest of the time owning a xt550 Yamaha was the best bike considering no mechanics at that time on the island 14 years with it no problems.
Extremly reliable bikes, a set of points and condensor and off you go...no fancy gadgets!!
Everyone knows You can't ride without a 270 degree crank twin cylinder tubeless tyred cruise controlled 190kg Adventure bike with ultra HD TFT monitor . I remember the 90's when around the world motorcycle trips were done on 600cc/ 650cc bikes with huge aftermarket tanks
I fully agree with you 💪💪well said!!!
If you can just buy a DR650 and never sell it, its still arguably the best all rounder today, the KTM 690 is basically a high performance DR650, but its twice the price, more complex, probably less reliable, and do you really need 70hp on an adventure bike?
Agreed...or a Dominator 650, just as good and absolutely reliable as well.
@@FranksWay True, though I would recommend the DR mainly due to its popularity, there's heaps of DR's out there, which means plenty of spare parts, and there's also plenty of after market parts too.
@benjy288 yepp...love the DR as well, older 600 had carb issues, never owned a DR650 and need to look into that 😉 thank you....upcoming KTM1290r review
Large singles singles vibrate and have limited power for highway riding. They are mostly terrible.
All good points which i agree with, my goto bike is my 990r or Africa Twin RD07 for long stretches of open road, in the twist riods of the French Alps Morzine, i love the Dominator also...good points you make yes.
@@MagnumMuscle1000 Have you ridden a 2019+ KTM690 with two balancing shafts? Virtually no vibrations, no finger numming, and 75HP, at the wheel (with little love).
Where's Yamaha with an Itchy Boots edition 550-600cc single? If they could put shin height 20L 890 tanks on it along with a kick start and decent suspension too that would be great. Other than the amazing handling upgrade you get from those tanks they also offer a lot of crash protection. Instead the manufacturers have decided we want small displacement twins this year.
My thoughts are this, OEM's need to listen more to their customers and bring us practical motorcycles that last a lifetime and are cheap to maintain, i guess the eighties and nineties gave us good bikes :)
I bought the Superduel X. Put it on a diet .....removed twin exhausts for a single . Did some other small mods and I have a phenomenal Cracker. The use of Motoz Tractionater tyres is a game changer. Great powerful bike.
I recently realized KLR 650 disappeared from Kawasaki 2025 lineup for Europe.
Wonder what they will do to the KLX650?
just get a KTM 500 or bigger. problem solved!
Agreed 💪
I own a XT660R. Love the bike. Have had the opportunity to ride the T7 on various occasions & in a perfect world, that would be my "up grade". Great video 👍🏼
I agree, i'm a huge fan of the older bikes, and have always been one.The older Dominator is something i want to pursue again.I appreciate your feedback, glad you loved the vid, even AI is still learning.Frank

Hello. I have a 2008 KTM Super Duke 990 R in the USA. I think the second throttle valve stepper motor has failed and I've read that other have deleted these and plugged the holes in the throttle body. The second throttle valves flaps have already been deleted by the previous owner, so the stepper motor serves no purpose anyways other than keeping code clear. Is there a way to delete the stepper motor and keep codes clear? Thank you.
