I was negligent with my chain while cycling on salty streets this winter. So it got very rusted and stiff. I got the rust off no problem. But it's driving me crazy trying to loosen the links. I worked on it and thought it was good when spinning in the smallest gear. But when I shifted to the biggest rear sprocket the links are jumping again. I was hoping to find an easier way but I guess I just need to keep going and work each individual link loose.
I got my bike today from school and the chain is looked rusted and halfway home i couldn’t ride it back so me and my friend tried to fix it but we couldn’t
Best thing is to rotate the pedal spray wd40 all across the chain.. let it sit for 30 mins and rotate the pedal again and run a steel brush across it. The chain is as good as new.
@@IvansBikesBmws I just followed your tutorials now it's seem better. I can back paddling and no more creaking sound from the pulley wheel I just need to go for a ride tomorrow.tysm
@@IvansBikesBmws I hear to save them in this state, get ATF fluid (can be used) and mix 50/50 with acetone. This makes a cheap penetrating oil. Toss the pieces in this oil for a few days and it should loosen up. Its a bit of work, but maybe can be done without removing the chain?
@@radekw708 The very extreme examples need to be soacked all the way. I restored many without dumping them in all the way. If it is a cheaper chain, you may just replace it.
I agree 100% and I am working on it. Starting a new channel as a not English native speaker is very overwhelming experience, but also rewarding. Thanks for the feedback and kind words.
This was an amazing video. Accent is even better
Cheers and thanks!
put screwdriver or something like that in two nearby holes makes it easy to bend stiff links
That works too! Thanks for the comment!

Yeah if it gets very bad, you gotta do the individual links.

Should i change my chain if there's a lot of stiff chains?
I would first leave it overnight in some liquid cleaning and see what happens. If that fails, get a new chain.
@@IvansBikesBmws ty sir
@watertubig4778 YW. My advise , learn as mush as you can!
And also remember to lubricate your chain once a month! Ignoring this can be a costly mistake. Thank you for this video.
Correct
Should i clean it first before i toss it in liquid??
Yes, it will come out better.
@@IvansBikesBmws what type of liquid should i use? Did water will do?
Find some citrus and leave it overnight inside.
Thank you so much this helped me!
You are every welcome.
Ivan

Good point. That is my preventive method before putting a bike away or after winter storage. Thanks for the comment and pls consider subscribing.
I guess than it is the time for a new chain.
What kind of oil?
Any chain oil.

@@davidandbeckygash1993 Thanks
Idk why but I just got a new chain and that happen?
The chain was not oiled up properly. Oil it and go for a long ride and you will be fine.

@@kethya5432 Glad I was able to help. Oil and good ride would help.
Chris if it is rusty, you need a new chain.
Ok thanks
What if my hole chains like this
Toss it in a liquid over night.
What if both methods doesn't work? :(

Good video, but a less wordy presentation would be even better.
