    Open heart watches are fun. I do enjoy seeing the live mechanics now and again.The black and silver dial looks classy as well. Don't care for thr engraving on the case as it looks tacky.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Mike. Yeah I don't mind an open heart when done tastefully... this one isn't bad, but it's just that I reckon. I do think this black and silver is the pick of the bunch of combos they offer. Cheers, Ivan.

    Open heart watches aren't my thing ... but it's pretty enough ... is that balance wheel centred in the viewing window?

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well spotted... indeed with this movement, positioning the crown at 3 o'clock means that the balance wheel is slightly to right of 12 o'clock, as seen in the Bernard London I did a while back. This model chose to centre the window, which means the balance wheel is slightly off.

    Earnshaw seems to be using Invicta marketing. I bought two Earnshaw watches last week, the Grand Legacy and the Longitude. They both went back a couple days later. Too built up with the box, write up, and in your face branding on the watch (face, case side, and seconds hand). I only paid $130. CDN for each watch which is about what I felt they were worth.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for review! The watch is not my style but I do appreciate the review on various watches as there are so many of them! Don't like the branding on the side as it reminds me of Invicta. :P

    Great review. I like the looks and design of the watch, but the size is too much for a dress watch. I mean, 51mm lug width? Not for me.

  • @nightraker
    @nightraker 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't mind a company memorializing a somewhat obscure horologist for marketing purposes. I carry a deer lick worth of salt to remain immune to such appeals. The open heart is the centerpiece of the dial design, so I can forgive their emphasis. Like the massive crown guards on my new Citizen Grand Touring, such elements are a matter of taste and YMMV. The engraved case is unfortunate. Pricing reminds me of the little boy's comment to the little girl at the $100 lemonade stand, "We only have to sell just one!"

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha that's a good one... perhaps it was along the lines of "we only have to sell 1000!" :)

  • @edf2953

    I think the open heart feature detracts from the appearance of the watch. When I look at the open heart with its surrounding stainless steel trim I’m immediately reminded of the top of a chalice used by the Priest during Mass. I’m no watch expert, still, I think the open heart detracts significantly from the appearance of what could be a rather impressive timepiece. Also, I’m not a fan of the signature on the side of the case. Otherwise, this watch has potential, subject to getting rid of the open heart. Just the thoughts of one person.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the thoughts Ed... open heart complications can be rather polarising, generally with more people in the negative side I find. Personally I'm not a huge fan myself either.

    Branding on the watch case side is alright... If the watch wearer is ashamed of the watch and or brand they're wearing, buy a Patek Philippe instead.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or indeed any number of higher end brands. Squale is also known for this "notorious" habit, although I'm not aware of any other more costly brand that tends to do that.

    • @syndicatedsatellite7288
      @syndicatedsatellite7288 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PerthWAtch A watch case with the name brand on the side would make it more difficult for those parts to be used in a Frankenstein watch.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes quite true... although with some handiwork one could overcome that without too much difficulty. Viewer M Austin has shared some techniques that render good results... no prizes for guessing that he did this on an Invicta! :)

    Question.
    Does anyone here really like a name engraved case? If the case was not engraved most of wouldn't notice or miss it but if the case is engraved many of us are turned off by it. How many of you had the mental image of a low cost 'Invicta' when the case engraving was shown?

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I think it's true that many would be turned off by the brand engraving... I'm not aware that anyone has ever commented that they like it, but some don't seem to mind it as such.
