2:21 The way the music is timed here is nothing short of beautiful. It's like the souls of the his fallen comrades are lending him aid by chanting a battle hymn to empower him and restore his will to fight
+Mike the Man ummm first of all he didn't insult DaS3 in any way. Second, it really has some things that kinda refer to a few things in Bloodborne. The Watcher's attire (especially the mask), the flame trails, the blood healing and finally, the way the Watcher stares at you as soon as you get into the room. Those refer to the Hunter's Attire, Lady Maria, The Old Blood and maybe Father Gascoigne respectively :/
I’m noticing that’s a recurring theme in Dark Souls; many bosses aren’t in their prime or at the height of their power when you fight them; Gwyn is the lord of Cinder instead of lord of sunlight. Artorias with his broken arm. The Witch of Izalith deformed into the Bed of Chaos. Gherman in Bloodborne, wheelchair bound and limping.
Decided to buy the game solely because of this fight. Coupled with the stunning soundtrack, it is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in gaming.
@@Ryzen1 It was really hard at first, and I even rage quit a few times, but the game would stick in my mind and I'd think "if at that second I'd rolled right, I'm sure I would've dealt a different blow that could've helped me win..." and I'd just think hard about the fights and decided to come back minutes later. When I finally got to this fight it was amazing. Totally worth investing time in lol will replay it when I have enough time!
tip for new players: in the second phase of the fight be patient. You only got one window to hit him or use it for healing, and that is when he does the jumping slash attack. Don't attack unless you got this window. Stay in closing distance and roll back from his attacks and as soon as he jumps, jump forward and punish him with 3-4 hits. Repeat.

I still can't get over the abyss watcher's extra knife that they wear on their right hip. The handle is part of the torso, but the sheath of the knife is part of the leg.
I remember the first time I got to the boss. I heard loud metalic noises outside the boss door and I felt nothing but fear. I knew what ever was in there was going to kick my ass.
I’m new to the whole Soulsborne franchise. But the boss I’ve always known, even before i bought the game, were the abyss watchers. I’ve just got to them in the game, and needless to say I die a lot, but they’re just so cool it’s so hard for me to get mad at them when I die

the abyss watchers ... epic ... garding the entrance to the underworld while fighting an endless epic battle ... if someone wanna pass he have to take down the undead legion ... the very definition of badass ... a group that only exist to fight ...
John McT they exist to guard the abyss, the next boss (I forget his name, it's highlord something) is on the verge of the abyss and the legions purpose is to destroy kingdoms infested by the abyss
PokemonTcg collector they are just epic mate i wish we could fight em all at the same time ... i know we wouldn't stand a chance but daaaamn taking down the undead legion would be rewarded
I love how deeply sad and manly this fight is, they have to kill their brethren, but fulfill their duty without hesitation. The music is all the more adding to the melancholic feel and making this my favourite of all the boss fights, as it is in my opinion one with the most character.
This was one of the best Vs the Abyss Watchers fights I have seen so far. It was such a tooth and nail battle with a constant give, and take that never lulled.
Except he uses a greatshield in that hand, and the Legion didn't even exist until far beyond his death. Thus, you're very incorrect about why he doesn't use Legion Etiquette. You're correct that his arm was broken though, and I shudder to think what kind of nightmare he would have been to fight if he had the use of both his arms...
What I love so much about the abyss watchers is that they are so honorable, like even if artorias came back and wasn't consumed by the abyss they would still fight him because they have no exceptions for anyone going in or coming out of the abyss

Totally agree. I'm almost beat the game and almost all bosses are shitty. Not even close compared to Ludwig, Abyss Watchers, Maria, Gael, Nameless King, Artorias, O&S, etc. Elden Ring bosses are huge step back specially compared to Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3.
They really helped me planing my new D&D character, a knight belonging to a ancient order of warriors, bound to erase each bit of pestilence and corruption they would come across. But now he is the last acting after the rules of the order, not stoping his rampage until he destroyed the source of what he is fighting since years.
There is bosses who had a excelent fight or a perfect design or a perfect soundtrack or a perfect LORE, but there exist some bosses who had the four elements, and this is one of they... beautiful fight, the best boss ever!

John McT they exist to guard the abyss, the next boss (I forget his name, it's highlord something) is on the verge of the abyss and the legions purpose is to destroy kingdoms infested by the abyss
PokemonTcg collector they are just epic mate i wish we could fight em all at the same time ... i know we wouldn't stand a chance but daaaamn taking down the undead legion would be rewarded
nameless king is better
Kind of cool once you realize that they are fighting eachother cause they are sworn to eradicate the abyss and are slowly being taken over by it
John McT so true
I love how deeply sad and manly this fight is, they have to kill their brethren, but fulfill their duty without hesitation. The music is all the more adding to the melancholic feel and making this my favourite of all the boss fights, as it is in my opinion one with the most character.
4:24, now thats just stupid luck
He totally got lucky. I think he hit melee attacked instead of roll by mistake.
If only poise worked for Abyss Watchers...
+Decent Person that right there accounts for about 90% of my deaths in boss fights.
Heirs of Artorias who played much bloodborne
the only one i found who faced the boss without parrying neither backstabbing, and let us appreciate the movesets
**messages**
I did same, just forgot to recorde it, i never do backstabs vs any boss, idk why just feels bad
I did same
I didn't know you could backstab, and I don't parry, until I got summoned in on NG+4 and the host kept chain backstabbing him.
2 years late but it's easy without parry or backstabbing, rollin' Rollin' Rollin' 😃
What if the messages were "pls rate this fine I'm fighting strong enemy"
You know things are getting serious when you encounter a boss with calm music.
cought cought* malenia
Gwyn
Sif
This was one of the best Vs the Abyss Watchers fights I have seen so far. It was such a tooth and nail battle with a constant give, and take that never lulled.
+Walter Williams Thanks, appreciate it!
+Kaiuchka It's not a cheese but a game mechanic
Those clutch message ratings though... :p
Sam Osterhout It was out of his control.
@@theberserkerarmor6511 Or he had a bunch of friends waiting to applaud.
Given what your armor reminds me of, and the nature of this boss fight, once it's over all I can say is "And now their watch is ended."
has*
XD
John on steroids
Bruh when is that fat guy gonna give us more books huh? I wanna see stannis the mannis kill some whites with his flaming sword
What do you mean by the armour part?
I really love elden ring but i like that game more... i prefere classic souls games.
2160p60 4K on a shitty laptop w/shitty internet? challenge accepted, i got all day.
the fps is so low the music is spaghettified and sounds satanic. what I'm assuming anyway
Did you win now?
2:06 this is a movie or a game , the music in the scene get perfect
Fun fact:
The reason Artorias didn’t use Legionarie etiquette was because is arm is broken
@@christianrose9166 Fun fact:

If I got my messages rated 50 times during the fight I'd probably win first time out, as well.
And that dmg tho
This fight is both visually and euphonically stunning, masterpiece!
What I love so much about the abyss watchers is that they are so honorable, like even if artorias came back and wasn't consumed by the abyss they would still fight him because they have no exceptions for anyone going in or coming out of the abyss
im i the only one who thinks that artoria's fanboys are cooler then artorias
"then"
Know what's not cool at all? Your English.
500 Subs Without Videos How old are you kid? Your channel name and the way you said “than and then are the same” makes me question should you even be talking kid?
I mean, it's just the TH-cam comments section grammar
@@emperorrudolph4211 Same thing about your channel name. And who the fuck are you to tell me
500 Subs Without Videos I’m can tell you because I’m correcting you because then and than are different kid. Also your channel name just means you’re wanting subscribers desperately.... I see no originality in that fucking name mate. At least my name is originally and not used by so so many dumb kids. Also I HIGHLY doubt you played any soulsborne games. So don’t be fucking insulting me when you are literally the definition of stupidity kid.
0:14 that moment when two of you fight for the last piece of pizza
2:06 best part, lines up with the music perfectly
Why does this boss fight feel like we are the villain?
I don’t know, because you’re not.
it hurt me seeing you get hit by the upward slash three times in a row.
Legend has it he beat the game without having his messages rated mid-fight
Had to come back here seeing this amazing boss compared to Elden Ring garbage bosses
@@ashcrow9233 true man it's just reskin bosses over & over again I mean how many times r we going to face Dragonkin Soldier boss
Not all elden ring bosses are garbage but darks souls bosses are miles ahead of elden rings bosses
@@imbadatnames1326 True that
Elden ring bosses are cooler than dark souls
They really helped me planing my new D&D character, a knight belonging to a ancient order of warriors, bound to erase each bit of pestilence and corruption they would come across. But now he is the last acting after the rules of the order, not stoping his rampage until he destroyed the source of what he is fighting since years.
Thats badass
There is bosses who had a excelent fight or a perfect design or a perfect soundtrack or a perfect LORE, but there exist some bosses who had the four elements, and this is one of they... beautiful fight, the best boss ever!
yael vilchis herrera may they be remembered forever! Between this, Knight Artorias, and the Great Grey Wolf Sif, I can say that this is the best part of the entire series and one of the greatest Dark Souls stories ever told
Hands down the best boss fight in the SoulsBorne series, in terms of lore, epic-ness, style, and ambiance. It's a kick ass arena too.
4:45 double win :)
Looks like he’s casting magic. He’s still fighting
