Neighbors - today, we're making Braised Pork over Rice. We'll sear a whole piece of pork belly (통삼겹살), then braise it a flavored soy sauce. In Japan, its called buta kakuni - but we take our spin on it! Throw in some garlic cloves, soft-boiled eggs and bok-choy into the soy sauce mixture. Simmer it away. Then lay the soft, tender pork pieces over some rice - and you got yourself a gourmet rice plate. Ah, you're in for a treat today!

another hello from Michigan!
I made this for my boyfriend and he totally loved it. He said he savored every bite. My assessment was that I wish I had a gas stove, because I used a cast iron pan and I really had to regulate the heat on a glass top stove. Also, I think that you have to let the eggs get to room temperature to get them to boil correctly. Mine came out too runny but again it could have been that I use a glass top stove verses a gas stove. Overall, the bowl was very really delicious and savory. The braised sauce just really made the pork belly I didn’t need to add anything. Also, it was easy to make. I 100% recommend this dish. Thank you Future Neighbor.
I know we live in different countries, and we're both straight dudes, but this food makes me want to move to Korea and marry you. Katie might be upset but once she sees the salmon and shellfish i can bring with me from Seattle I think she'll be cool with the marriage.

Daniel I made this dish tonight and it was 💯🔥. I don't even do soft boiled eggs but when I mixed it with the rice and sauce 😳 🤯 I am a new convert only in these conditions. Also, I didnt have the kelp and I used mince garlic because I don't keep whole ones. Its a new family staple. Loved it

I like to throw the cooked rice into the skillet in the leftover bacon fat or a little sesame oil. Gives that dolsot nurungji vibe.
