I’m in my late fifties and have never had a tool box and have never known where anything is. I’m fairly sure this is the one I’m going with and finally get organized
I have the 18 drawer, 72" tool chest and I love it. It has increased $400.00 since I bought it. I have a lot of Husky products and I'd buy another of their tool boxes in a heartbeat.
I do automotive for a living. Bought the Husky 52" in January and it's been great so far. Not sure if I should blame it on thin metal or "lower quality", but one thing I noticed recently is the bigger bottom drawer making contact with the welds on the very bottom of the box. I do have some weight in that drawer but it is not jam packed. I had to remove the drawer and grind off a little bit of the welds (don't remember if it was 2 or 3) so it does not make contact anymore when opening and closing the drawer
I have had my husky for about 5 years now . It was $750.00 when I bought it . It's held up good so far I'm just out growing it will all my tools . I don't have the shelf nor did mine come with the light inside . But that doesn't bother me . Mine also makes that same noise but it's not a deal breaker...I would also like to see a 72" just like this. That would be awesome . But these boxes are alot higher in price now , so I could only imagine what a 72" would cost ....Great video thanks for sharing.
I found a 60in for $90 of the exact same thing husky combo tool chest but it was order off a site called usaokbuy😂😂😂😂 so I’m sure it would be built alittle cheaper but for $90 I can’t beat that I figured I’d try it out until I grow out of it and buy a better box🤷♂️ let’s see if the $90 was really worth it😂
The 52” with led light & outlets & usb on both sides is now. $1198.00. I just got one & I love it. It was voted best overall 52” box by a tool review site.
I was looking at the Craftsman 2000 series, US General at Harbor Freight and this one. I went with the Husky for pretty much the same reasons you did. The 56” US General was too much money, the Craftsman did not seem heavy enough and this seemed perfect to me on drawer depth as well as the top cabinet. Even the 44” US General combo was more than this unless you got the credit card and 10% off.
I think you guys might be doing Harbor Fright wrong. Right now (Nov '23) the US General 56"x22" rolling chest + top chest, Series 3 (which is the newest version) is retailing for like $1,400 but the Husky is retailing for $1,548. BUT the thing is, never buy from HF at full retail because everything in the store goes on sale at least once per year so you just wait for a coupon and you're gonna get anywhere from 10-30% off that price!! AND since they were just released, they're at their max price and will be dropping over the course of 2024. Also the top chest has a much better top...more roomy and stuff. I'm not trying to shill for HF and I don't work for them. I was just surprised when you guys said the Husky was cheaper.
@@jontnoneya3404 Mine was. I paid $900 for the Husky. Your right, you can usually wait for a deal @ HF, but still @ 30% off, I was cheaper with the Husky and not having to wait for whenever the HF deals would kick in. At the time time I bought, HF didn’t have a 52” and I couldn’t make the 56” fit. I liked the US General boxes, they are nice. Not having the right size and being more money didn’t make sense to me.
I look at craftsman it seems to light duty.. I have owned about 4 larger boxes and the drawers are the part that will eventually give trouble..I have found get help to returrn a wide drawer because you don't want to stress the slider
I ordered the same box and just like you I also considered the Craftsman and US General and found the same issues as you. The Craftsman is made of 20ga metal and its flimsy. The drawers have a tendency to bow in the middle with weight. The USG is sturdy but doesn't have a hutch option and the shallow drawers are a drawback for me because it limits my options on what to put there.
Yeah, that's a nice box for the money. I have been looking for at least a year, and had it narrowed down to your box and a Milwaukee 46-in box. Was going to go with this husky, but then all the sudden the Milwaukee box dropped by almost $400 bringing down it to $898. That's currently $100 less than the husky box which is on sale now for $998.
@@JsGarage Yep, I bought the Milwaukee. It was delivered right to my garage this morning for free, and I've been busy unpacking and installing all the extras. Very impressed with how it was packed, and it arrived in perfect condition. Now I just need to line up a couple young strong bodies to lift the nearly 300# chest up. The color, 2 full length drawers, lower price, slightly deeper drawers, all the attachments, the branding, a bit narrower to fit better for my needs, And did I mention the color...😆 Anyway, those are a few of the reasons why. I think they're both great boxes for the home garage and it just comes down to personal preference.

@@malukojoexvi9957 Not sure if they all have the same problem. For mine I replaced a couple rivets on each end of the hutch hinge that weren’t tight. Also hit the whole hinge with WD40 dry lube and there’s no more squeaks and creaks from the hutch door now.
At first I thought your complaints about the squeaky top were probably exaggerated but as the video goes on, it was getting to me too. I have to say though, I compared it to the Husky 56" 23 drawer model and the 56" model felt like it was a lighter duty box than this one. I think the 56" model also has single drawer slides on the big socket drawer instead of dual slides like this one. Unfortunately this one is now $1199 on sale. Still seems worth it in today's inflated market.
Yeah for some reason Husky is kind of all over the place on which models get more drawer slides. Definitely a must for any drawer holding moderate or greater weight. Fortunately the squeaky top can mostly be solved with WD Dry Lube and in my case a couple replaced rivets. In todays market the box would still be a top box to consider at the current price point.
@@JsGarage I just brought one home this weekend. Another thing I noticed about this box is the rolled edges at the top sides of each box. Gives them rigidity and looks nice too. The 56" box didn't have rolled edges.
So much value in the Husky 52" and the other part is you get into an "ecosystem" this way too. If you want to add other storage and benches to your garage husky has other nice offerings that fit the look. I use their mobile adjustable workbenches as desks and considering one for the garage as they are fantastic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Good luck on the box hunt.

I'm a year behind with this comment, but I wanted the Husky 52" for years but didn't like the price. I got the Craftsman S2000 about two months ago and couldn't get it to work for me. The drawers are not deep or long enough, and to get my deep sockets to stand up and still be somewhat easily accessible I moved the 3rd drawer to the top. I didn't like a lot about it, but the biggest issue is that it's basically just two identical 26" boxes smashed together - the layout is terrible. About two weeks ago while walking through Home Depot I saw the Husky 52" was down to $798, bought that and I couldn't be happier.
This is gonna sound weird, but is the husky metal plate in the hutch removable? I would much rather the whole box be black then have that plate stick out
I don’t open and close my hutch much it’s mostly left open in my garage. Holds door open fine. I guess I’d be more concerned with the strut performance if I opened and closed it often.
Seems to come from the hinge area of the hutch door. The right corner doesn’t appear to be riveted tightly. I’m going to start by redoing rivets for the hinge. Also going to grease the hinge.
I use these amzn.to/3dX2JXx. I got them back before sears closed down. They made grey and black which to easily identify metric or SAE. Not sure if they still make them in grey. There are other brands that are very similar as well. You can also get extra clips to configure as needed. I like the individual rails as I can just grab a whole rail and bring it to what I am working on or to bring on the road.

Those socket holders are pretty low profile. I guess it is also possible to have some large deep wells that could push the height capacity of the drawer. Fortunately, every socket I needed to fit had no issues.
Next time you review something show us the object not your face. I want to see the tool box not you. Show the deep drawers the rivets and the power strip while you talk about them not your mug. Thanks

Yea the craftsman are a bit disappointing unfortunately. I want to like them more as at least some of them are made in USA.

Just some rivets that hold that in. Could drill those and take it out. You could paint it and put it back or even put your own thing there.

Had a couple of rivets to redo on each side of the hutch and sprayed WD dry lube on the hinge. Been good awhile now.
