Use a tarp for a door, and I'll bet the heat from the fire would almost run you out. Nice, big and comfy. Great job. Greetings from SC.

The way this is set up, he is already breathing in tons of dangerous gasses and chemicals. Closing a door would make it far worse.
This is ok in a dire emergency, but very dangerous for any longer period of time.

Love that shelter. Ppl were saying it would go up if a stray ember... I just love how you put it together. Idk about the ember thing but i guess it does make sense. Still would love to make one myself.

The pine straw is damp. As the snow melts, and seeps in, it will stay damp. It wouldn't be a problem. Maybe in summer when everything is dry, but you won't need it then.

Es ist sowieso falsch gebaut: Man deckt das Gerüst zuerst mit Rinde, dann erst
kommt anderes Material darauf. Zum Beispiel Grasnabe, die nach einer Zeit zusammenwächst.-- Oder man deckt das Gerüst
gleich mit einer Plane. Das ist sauber und spart viel Arbeit!!! 😉👍

But people today are disconnected from themselves millions are addicted to drugs from being disconnected from their true self and lost authentication. I know this because I'm in recovery. Trauma is the loss of one's self. Health and wholesome have the same root word HAL. So in other words , if we are to become healthy , So in other words, if we are to become healthy, we must become whole. And being away from other people and back in nature we become closer to God . Where there is peace. This may not be your thing and I respect that. It's just mine.

Have two bow saws...one small like the one you have... and a second long bow saw for cutting the tree trunk into suitable sized logs... stand the long bow saw on end on the ground with one foot keeping it in place and your knees gripping the bow , so that you have the blade facing away from you... grab the trunk so you have the middle of the trunk and do the push-pull up and down the blade....very fast and efficient way to make firewood out of skinny tree trunks ....

I always check out the hands when I consider if the video is legit. Watched one yesterday…the guy built a shelter and he made a chimney that he lined with mud. Later he cooked a meal. His hands were so clean (no running water) he could have operated on somebody. This guys hands, while not dirty, were not spotless either. Some dirt under the nails tells me he really built this. Looked very real and something that would keep him alive.

Kinda funny when you consider, that unless in a very unfortunate incident, non of these are truly survival videos, they put themselves their, never explain who's land they are on , and ALWAYS have spices for whatever they cook, reality TV at its most primitive state. Lol

I know some guys that go into East Ky especially, in worst weather. They only travel as Boone (pre) ,and long hunters and others would have in Forrest and areas with no road, before any habitation by many people. There are no more than 10. They can only carry what they would of had in early/ mid plus 1700’s. They do not scout ahead of time. They will look at a map occasionally- and they rely on survival skills for about three days, sometimes two.
Those guys (some in their 70’s) make their own Ky Rifles and most of their gear. They must wear buck skins and period clothes but good shoes are allowed, some prefer moccasins.
Now those guys are wild men. At 20 below they had worked most of day hollowing out upturned logs found from tornado or wind strike, rock ledges, and had, to remember Boone, Harrod, Kenton, the Harmon Brothers, and many others….. re- enact these ball buster noman land walkabouts- and yes they hunt their food and know how to eat plants… but as you know, prolonged time in the woods, even with game, can result in one starving over any length of time. These guys will tell you, without domesticated cattle or fat resource, living off land is very to near impossible for any number of people beyond each man who is actually hunting or with a specific contribution to survival.
Man, the first pioneers who brought their families, no cattle at first, were bravest men women and children ever to enter Ky. Even with awesome game reserves to hunt at first, the diaries of Dan Boone at Ft. Boons borough tell the tale of the game being hunted out and migrating out…. it’s very very hard to survive off the land-. CUDOS to you for showing your skill, maybe teaching others. I fear one day we may face these days again. Hope not but thanks to the early pioneers that voluntarily did so. 🗽👍
