    Props to you for spending some time in a Jeep. Not the perfect overland rig but capable and lots of fun off road. I love mine!

    Hi Andrew, just found this channel. I'm British and a time served off roader. I have a trophy cabinate full of wins from rtv trials to comp safari and hill rally all through Land Rover However! I am a total jeep convert. Love the vids

    Now Andrew, I watched through Jeep showroom, you driving around camels, even meeting The Sheik and seeing his great globe caravan, but when you got to that 1961 Dodge Powerwagon, I had to pause to comment! Yes, that's the era when automobiles were works of art and design! I was a young whippersnapper then, 12 years old, and started my love of vehicles as soon as I got old enough to know what a 1949 Plymouth was. The car I learned to drive with. Wait!! That red/white 1978 Landcruiser FJ50!! Oh me, just might be my favorite! So far... Well, The Sheikh is a good man! Just think, he's preserved all those 4WDs for the world! I pause again at 21:50 for Kate's remark, "I like ketchup with this." Now that's the ticket Kate! You must have a bit o' American blood running in ye veins!

    I cannot believe my overland truck was completely ignored on the off-road and adventure show overview! It almost looks like this was done on purpose))) It was right beside ARB tent - with off-the-grid 2 bedroom setup with restroom, shower and solar power plant we were quite an attraction... Got a trophy on the Abu-Dhabi custom show for it this year. What a shame)))

      Ahh... but not just any old regular CJ6s! Those are 1976+ RHD 6-cylinder models, probably built in Egypt by AAV (Arab American Vehicles). All 3 with the same custom hard tops and tailgate mountings; most likely not ex-military but commercial vehicles used by oil exploration or survey company.:)

    It seems within the Jeep Overlanding community, ARB's adjustable Old Man Emu suspension is the pinnacle (maybe AEV's Bilstein setup behind that).

    Andrew! Your videos are amazing and have really inspired me to go ahead and do the overland trip around africa. I live in Dubai right now and I was wondering if you know of any places, around here in Dubai where they could help me set up my gear or give me some advice into which vehicle to buy. Mostly guidance in general with overlanding, which unfortunately is not very popular here in UAE and there's not much diesel going around haha
    Cheers!

      We have more respect for the country than to go charging off the road over everything and anything just because the Jeep can do it. Behaviour like that results in places being closed to 4-wheelers. I won't be one of those contributing to the disrespect of 4W drivers.

  • @ronaldrrootiii6040

    Sadly I feel like the Jeep Rubicon is overlooked by Land Rover and Toyota people. Partially because Jeep doesn't promote quite as much even though you can find some videos of them doing extreme rock crawling from the factory unlock Land Rover that just goes through muddy water on the same course that they know it can handle with no articulation needed. The other reason is because I feel like the Land Rover in the Toyota people secretly know the Jeep is much much more capable so then they start talking about overlanding things and how much it can haul and all that stupid stuff when really it can do all that just fine if you're willing to just do it and not think about it and try to find a fault. The only way to find a fault in one of those rubicons is to literally search for a fault

    I wish dealerships would get away from the superfluous gadgetry and nonsense.

    IIf the guy had said it's got 1310 drivehsafts, a winch and 35's with a snorkel (for dust/water) and maybe a farm jack and gas can...THAT would have made sense. This is just a Rubicon with some cute red paited stuff on it. Buy a base Rubicon.

    I have to hand it to Jeep, they make vehicles that are fun. Unfortunately they cant make one that is reliable and wont fall apart, rattle, break, or leak dust and rain. It is a vehicle I want to love, but I don't have enough money to throw at it. My last Jeep was sold after eating all my money and spending every other month in the shop.

    • @Dwealdric
      @Dwealdric 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried a JK? You may be pleasantly surprised.

    • @BlindIo42
      @BlindIo42 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dwealdric I love the idea of a JK, but their reliability numbers are still well below the industry average, I have heard of owners ending up with leaky hard tops, and a host of small problems that keep adding up. Chrysler had serious quality problems before Fiat bought them, and they don't seem to be getting better. I trust my 11 year old Nissan to bring me home, I cant say the same for a Jeep.

    • @Dwealdric
      @Dwealdric 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it looks like the numbers/rankings that I can find online support your thoughts on the reliability issue. I love mine, and have had very little issue with it, even after 35" tires and no drive train upgrades, but in the grand scheme of things I suppose that doesn't mean much. I only wish it had a higher payload.

      Owned 3 JK, most recently a 2017 Rubicon which ive already done 12,000km in, all of them have performed awesomely off road and as a daily driver. Leaky roofs were really sorted from 2013+ but its a hardtop that has 3 panels that remove just keep an eye on the seals its not hard.

    jeeps look cool and are capable off road. this one isnt my taste asthetically at all, but to each his own. they fill a niche market in the us and there is really nothing else comparable offered here by other manufacturers here. when i was a teen, i thought the moment i got my licence id buy a wrangler and never drive anything else.
    unfortionatly, they are some of the most unreliable vhicles on the road in the long run. I wish that wasnt the case, but it is. even though they have a cult following and people in that cult are often in denial about the reality of their beloved brand, the abysmal quality shows through even the cult status in the form of overwhelmingly poor ratings and owner reviews. something like 65% less reliable than avarage, which is saying allot as avarage has gotten pretty bad. this from a vhicle that people trust to get them to and from remote areas, and kn many cases trust their life to. shame on you crysler.
    american auto makers are in the toilet and crysler is one of the worst. they are relying purely on the jeep name, its reputation for reliability that willys and kaiser earned for the brand half a century ago, a reputation they arguably havent deserved since amc took over.
    i cant understand how they are even able to sell a single jeep in a country where you can get a brand new solid axle diesel toyota.

    what a waste of time, you showed nothing of what the jeep can do..
    Nor did yo go over any of the mechanicals....

    If only jeeps were reliable.....why can't America go back to building quality over quantity?! So frustrating as an American. the best 4x4 we have is the 4runner, or Lexus gx460,470

    Wow - what sort of idiot would take a JEEP into the deserts ? Petrol = No Range = No Low torque. Petrol is for week end warriors.

    The only reason you would buy a Jeep is that you couldn't find your Land Rover or Toyota dealer

      Wrangler is the best current modern 4x4 out there for the price

      Actually the Rubicon Wrangler is better than any Land Rover or Toyota off-road it's not a debate it's proven read the specs. Land Rovers and Toyotas don't have solid axles anymore they don't have front and rear lockers Factory they don't have disconnected sway bars. Especially the Land Rover it sucks the most now

    Since we'll all be Muslims in a few years, I'm at least glad to see they have the Steering Wheel on the Left side of the Vehicle. :-)
