A few other things: 1. Look at the coolant hoses to see if they are deformed or if there are giant bulges near the clamp. 2. On the highway get in the middle lane where the road does not crest as much left to right. Drive at highway speed on the straight away and let go of the wheel for 2-3 seconds. The car should track straight. If not there may be an alignment issue. 3. While driving around the parking lot try to find a wall, building, or even the highway divider. Drive along side it at 25-40mph then coast. Listen to the car noise echo off the structure. It should be almost silent except the wind noise. Listen for grinds, squeaks, etc. 4. In the parking lot do tight circles at low speeds, make sure you don't hear any clicking or clunking
I have seen G35 cars on TH-cam with rust in the engine compartment. Very Ugly indeed. They must have lived in a wet area with lots of road salt. I live in the southwest and own a 2008 G35 Journey with a 3.5 liter engine, auto trans with a clutchless Manuel trans. Retractable sunroof with spoiler. A all around clean car with 52800 miles. I recently serviced the vehicle with all fluids replaced, spark plugs, rear rotors and brake pads. I put new falcon tires all around. Total price was 6k. Oh, wiper blades replaced for $25.00 too. My point is maintaining a car is far cheaper than a new car payment right now. Leave your options open on a new car since prices will drop soon. I’d look at an Infiniti with a 6T trans with low mileage and abuse any year and model. The 350z engine is a winner anytime.
As a 4 year owner of a g35 coupe. The things you want to check before buying: Oil consumption, these engines burn a lot so make sure the owner checked the oil frequently. fuel gauge can go out with time. front end suspension parts like to fail. keep and eye on window motors. doors like to close by themselves. headlights can be a pain in the a** to change if they go out... As long as you don't buy a clapped out one you should be good though. The engines on these old Infiniti's are bullet proof.
My advice coming from a previous g35 owner if you can get the g37 more expensive yes but more reliable and fun for maybe 3k more than a 35 good luck hope you can get one
@@fade2faded659 the G35 is a bit less reliable with really bad oil consumption or burning oil and it’s a little bit dated but the power difference is the main reason I say g37 bc the 35 comes with 280 and the 37 comes with 330 not to mention the interiors look are refreshed and I believe after 2010 or 2011 they started to use the 7sd trans so if I were to get a g37 today I would look after 2011 bc I always heard people talking shit about the 08-10 g37 gas mileage bc they still used the 5sd I loved my G35 but if I was to do it over I would definitely go G37
Window Motors, doors locking/unlocking, vehicle startup and idle, ensure the fuel gauge reads the correct level, cracks on the dashboard, cracked clock trim, check roof liner, cruise control, ask about whether the timing chains were replaced, check front lower control arms, paint fading, check for paint overspray, rear diff bushings, axle boot tears, VALVE COVER GASKETS, missing/ mismatched bolts/nuts, ask about oil change interval (I was crazy I would do mine every 3k), burning oil, oil all over the engine, radiator fans are spinning, coolant level, oil level. This is mostly everything I experienced when buying and owning my G35 coupe. I hope it helps people when finding your car.
I owned a 2005 identical to the car in video. I loved the horsepower and handling. The only thing that was negative. The tires never lasted too long on these cars. I didn't do burnouts. But the costs of tires even back then were expensive.
Can’t wait to get a G35 Coupe in December already have 6K saved up but I want to be safe with at least 8K to play around with. Thoughts on maybe waiting around until a Rebuilt G37 Coupe pops up?
@@NismoMercury I got a 05’ G35 Sedan with 120k miles for 4k and I absolutely love it yes it might have the auto but in my city in Vegas it’s pretty much shitty traffic the times I choose to drive and I don’t want to over work my legs with the manual 😂 but all in all, I’m pretty happy with it. I am installing a trans go shift kit and a 3.9 diff from Z1 currently so it’s down for a week but once it’s up and running I’ll probably upload some content if I can find a GoPro for a good price but in all seriousness best decision I made so far. Also cheaper insurance but still having that power of the VQ is still noticeable, (especially since coupes are heavier compared to the Sedan by 50-90 lbs but that all comes down to what package your car comes with)
One thing about Nissans from this era, is beware the “melting dash!!” I’m not sure if this happened with the 350z’s and G cars, but I know it for sure happened in the G37 and Altima Coupes (probably sedans too). My Altima Coupe had that problem. It starts as an unusually shiny spot towards the bottom of the windshield, and it gets progressively worse to the point where it is literally blinding when the sunlight strikes your dash, making it almost impossible to drive on sunny days. The dash also becomes sticky to the touch. And mine was so bad that I literally was able to scoop a chunk of it out with my fingernail. I had to get a cheap dash cover to cover it up. As it turns out, Nissan used a type of rubber for the dashes of this generation of cars that was not suitable for extreme heat and they did not issue a recall for it. There was a class action lawsuit out of Florida that was won, but pretty much everybody else was screwed. I would have had to pay out of pocket for a new dash on mine.
@@CarAdventuresWithReg$8.9k listed price, $10k after dealer fees sadly. But not convinced I'm finding any better car deals like that in my area. These things nice, thanks for the video helping me decide.
Hey man, I just wanted know if the steering is supposed to be a bit hard and stiff in the g35 coupe? Because there’s a nice g35 with almost 290k KM and I’m planning to purchase it. This would help me a lot😅
im lookin at a used g35 right now, it looks clean and solid and I’m going to check it soon. it’s a 2008 g35x sedan with the sport package and 69k miles at 9800, do you think it’s worth it?

Rust is definitely something to check for on the quarter panels, rockers, and underneath where the floor and rockers meet
Yes definitely check for rust luckily in cali we don’t really have that problem. Thanks for watching bro 💯💯

How hard/long is it to take apart the motor to get to the valve cover gaskets cause mine is leaking when I bought it and my college professor saw it.

That’s how much mines was and the exact same mileage. I think you should get it but try to talk them down.
