So what up with all these forums saying the vr30 tcm would not work if you use it on a g37/g35/370z because their ECU(vq) won’t recognize the TCM Can’t the dealer just put a g37 tcm program on the vr30 TCM like they normally do when updating the tcm software

I know this is hella late but my g37 started doing this - I went to floor it on the highway playing with this bmw and it went up to 7 rpm and then lost traction because it’s wet, then it rev limited, did that noise like it wasn’t shifting I guess because it didn’t grab traction and just rev limited. So I let off the gas and it started to misfire as I went to give it some gas again. Now I can’t go over 3,000rpm without it downshifting or misfiring, can’t tell which it is. Any clue what this is?

As a Nissan Z enthusiast I’ve owned numerous VQ engines. Trust me you’re winning VQ’s are some of the most reliable motors ever built. I’ve worked on VR30’s and those motors just aren’t reliable.

The VR transmission is a inch thicker that's why it can handle more torque

I like both and had both Infinitis are fun to drive. The only thing i dont like about the ls400 is how boring it can get driving, like really boring it needs an exhaust and coil overs to make it fun.

So the vr30 valvebody/tcm should work on a 2013 g37x 3.7? Since the ECU from 2012-20+ g37 and q50 with 3.7 are all the same?
