@@georgiyhot1 usually just the hexagon pattern patches or depressions on worn ones. Some show the hex’s better with 365nm UV light. I don’t know the expanse of the Hexagonaria percarinata, but I think there are many types maybe outside of the US great lakes region.
Those are very beautiful stones! I live in the great lakes area myself, I'll be keeping my eyes open a good bit more from now on..

Is this a specific type of rock, or are most rocks like that (with patterns/ drawings)? Like are they all just covered in layers of dust?
