- We could not be more stoked to be in Bimini after last week’s sail! It really feels like crossing the Gulf Stream was worth it, and although we immediately had to hunker down at a marina for the first time due to weather, venturing down to Honeymoon Harbor for crystal clear water and swimming with stingrays completely made up for it. We also finally tried that tinned mackerel that we have been dreading eating for the past 4 months.

I have a tip for keeping food fresh, there are vacuum containers for food storage and vacuum plastic bags for fresh fish and other food that can be frozen, cheese that is vacuum packed holler 2-4 times longer, then if you put the fish out on a plate and use a fork and smach it with tomato the sauce will be much better, and greetings from Sweden

If I wasn’t brought up on mackerel in tomato sauce, I would also feel funny about trying it. Fish in a tin that doesn’t expire for years?!?! 🤢😂 I love it on toasted white bread with butter, it’s delicious! In the UK they sell it in loads of different flavours like spicy tomato sauce, curry sauce, mustard sauce - we love it! Haha

Normal seems to be just what you are used to! We didn't grow up with it but try to keep a very open mind of "If this is a normal thing people eat over there, there should be no reason we can't enjoy it over here!" String up a hammock somewhere on the boat... Helps loads with seasickness.... Just relax and keep your eyes closed while in it
I believe we have both a hammock and a hammock chair! Just have to figure out where to string them up 🤔 Michaela does often feel better when laying down with her eyes closed for a while

Try the mackerel with spaghetti. If the taste is too sour add a sip of milk but no cheese. You can do this with any caned fish in tomato sauce.

Love to see you tasting the makrell in Tomatosauce. In Norway we eat this on bread every day. It is very healthy and if you eat one slice of bread with this everyday. it gives you everything you need of Omega 3! we often have cucomber on it as well.
It is really good! Definitely something we have added into our rotation of meals :) Cucumber is kind of a hard thing to find in the bahamas, but we will definitely give it a go when we get back to the states! Thank you for watching ❤

Beautiful waters and some interesting sea life. I've eaten a LOT of Mackerel, but never out of a can. Something to try while at the dock, try spring boarding off of an aft corner, just have someone watching closely on the corner until the cat moves forward to leave the dock. The longer that cat is against the dock and moving down along side it, the more chances there are of a corner thumping one of those pylons. It's also dang hard for one crewmember to cover the entire length of the vessel.
We definitely need some practice with docking spring lines! We tried a bunch of different set ups on the dock to figure out what was working and not working. It will certainly take practice but we will get there eventually :) Thank you for the advice ❤⛵🎉

@@patrickandmichaela Ahh it's an honour to be part of the community and so pleasing to see you discover the beauty of sailing. Just as a thought but do make sure to remember these times when you're having a tough sail and something's broken .. that it's worth going through rough seas to get to turquoise waters on golden sandy beaches surrounded by basking sharks and stingrays. That's definitely the catch memory for me that would keep me motivated.
And on a completely random thought (because that's how my brain works lol) but what do you do about music when you're busy sailing? Do you have decently loud speakers so you can rock / rave your way across the ocean? I've just realise that it's not something I've seen discussed ... presumably due to vloggers not wanting to demo and then suffer a copyright strike?

Hey guys. New subscriber here. loving your can do attitude and content, keep up the great work. A couple of tips - Stugeron for seasickness ( a proper sea sickness drug available at least in UK where I come from. I as a part of the human trial process as a Sailor in the Royal Navy many years ago- trust me it works). @nd tip - try toasting some bread and topping the toast with the Mackerel then grilling it for a few minutes. If you ever get the chance, try it smoked with black Pepper (The best). Just break it inoto chunks and enjoy cold with a salad!!!

I bought a can of Mackerel in tomato sauce. Some how it disappeared on the way home. Bummer, I really wanted to try some.
Oooh that kind of thing always drives us crazy. So wild how you can lose something in such a short amount of time! Hopefully you'll get to try it soon, it was shockingly good!
If you lift up the looped part of the opener first towards the rim,
carefully break a little opening,
and then pull the lid back & up
it will be a lot easier to get to the fish.
Mayonnaise on top of the seasoned tomato sauce is a no-no
- but try to break the fish into small pieces with a fork first and mix the fish with the sauce ....

Dramamine would help with the seasickness or buying one of those Bracelets from Amazon might help you as well..and as far as i know dramamine has mild side affects , dry mouth

@@patrickandmichaela I hope the seller still has it in the next few weeks. It's perfect. A over customed 1980 Catalina 32 CC with all new electronics and dinghy davit(Dinghy not included). But that's perfectly fine. Again, I'll let you two know after I have an inspector check it out. fingers crossed but meh if not. There will always be another one. I'm still shooting for December so if I gotta wait than I gotta wait.
Good luck! 🍀 We looked at a bunch of Catalinas online, some of them are in such fabulous condition still. Davits are a huge plus, and getting a dinghy and motor really isn't the end of the world. Plus you can kind of get something right sized for what you are trying to do. Definitely would recommend a survey if it's any real amount of money, worth its weight in gold.
Always more boats on the market though :) Definitely keep us updated! (and check your patreon DMs!)

I generally agree with you! This spot is used as a daily tour spot from Bimini where they are fed every day so these stingrays are a little more domesticated than wild.
