“Arguably the most ‘complete’ motorcycle from Benelli in modern times. It may be ironic that the best bike this Italian firm, which is steeped in racing history, has built isn’t a superbike, but the Benelli Tre-K is a superb, Multistrada-esque, do-anything, all-purpose street motorcycle and it really is very, very good.” - Motorcycle News (MCN Staff)
This stylish 2008 Benelli Tre-K 1130 Amazonas has only 16 original miles and is a one owner time capsule. This motorcycle is referred to as the “Adventure Bike” for its versatility. The Tre-K is full of feel, passion and character. Benelli is an Italian Company based in the city of Pesaro, Italy that produces motorcycles and scooters. Benelli was founded in 1911 in Pesaro and is the second oldest Italian motorcycle company still in business today. In 2021, Benelli celebrated the 110th Anniversary of it foundation. The Tre-K, pronounced “Kay” or “Kappa” depending on which corporate type you chat with, has handily overcome its confused heritage. It looks a bit adventurous thanks to wide bars, adjustable windscreen and belly pan but it’s a pure road beast. The 1130cc engine with 123HP fires up with a sound that makes the soul quiver a little. This example was purchased brand new by a gentleman who lives in Peabody, MA. He originally purchased it to enjoy but with very limited production numbers decided to keep it more as a display piece. It was always treated with TLC and stored indoors properly. He removed the battery and stored it in a safe place on a battery tender. He also drained the fuel every year and started it frequently. The original owner decided to sell it after 15 years of ownership to MS CLASSIC CARS in May of 2023. This is the first time it’s been listed for sale. As stated in the opening paragraph, it’s selling on a Bring-A-Trailer online auction with NO RESERVE!
This Benelli Tre-K 1130 Amazonas sports the iconic color combination of Yellow and Black. The stylish front faring, front fender, fuel tank and rear inner fender were finished in yellow. The silver with green wreath Benelli emblem was tastefully added in visible locations. The gray Tre-K emblem on the fuel tanks showcases the Italian colors. It’s been outfitted with a beautifully sculptured black seat with yellow stitching. While the design may look great from angles there are elements of execution that don’t follow through. The blackish windscreen features can be adjusted manually by unscrewing a knob on each side of the half-fairing and putting it in position. It outfitted with off-road features such handlebar hand protectors, rear grab handles and lower outer rear fender. The frame is a mixed solution of a front ASD steel tube trellis, fastened to boxed rear section, aluminum alloy castings which the subframe is aluminum die cast. The steering geometry is very relaxed and with a sensible 50-50 weight distribution handling is nicely neutral. Keeping the usable nature of the Tre-K, smoothing out the ride and suiting the pillion-and-luggage set is a rear mono-shock with adjustable rebound and remote pre-load. The mono shock sits between a yellow spring that complements the other yellow appointments. Up front is a 50mm Marzocchi upside fork which does fine on the road and soaks up bumps. Nor is there too much dive when the dual 4-piston Brembo calipers put the bite on the twin 320-mm discs. The rear is equipped with a 2-piston caliper with a 2-piston caliper. It’s been outfitted with a 19” Takasago Excel front wheel and 17” Takasago Excel rear wheel that are both black with chrome spokes. The Metzeler Tourance tires are 110-80-19 on the front and 150-70-17 on the rear.
The heart of this Tre-K is an 1130cc (69 cu in) 4-stroke, transverse three cylinder, DOHC with 4-valves per cylinder engine. The engine is rated with 123hp @ 9000 rpm and 67.9 lb-ft @ 6250 rpm. From there the hunt begins. Smooth and effortless acceleration punches you through the approximate top end of 145mph. The ¼ mile time is 11.5 seconds. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission. It’s equipped with a wet clutch with hydraulic command. A button on the instrument panel’s left is for “Power Management” which allows you to flip the ECU between soft and more aggressive engine mapping.
