    Splendid video! I travelled there about 12 years ago and it was my highlight of Europe, but I only got to spend 2 days on hire bikes. Now I am inspired to go back there with my own rig and get right up into the back roads. As your first trip that will be hard to top, I think.

    Hi Nicola, thanks for a wonderful, very "down to earth" video with fantastic shots! And kudos for the music - it really supports the atmosphere of the video.
    May I ask what kind of bike you used? Is there a list of your equipment?

    great place and touring. planning something like this around lake bled. loved your route .but. although you did this tour long time ago. do you remember anyhow to decrease total km form 400- 300. i guess you cycled around 410 km?

    Thanks, @Nikola, for posting this video. I see you have a MTB. Do you think experienced bikepackers could do this on a gravel bike with thick tires?

    • @nikolagereci2808
      @nikolagereci2808  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe Cruz, one of the guys who made this route, says it's possible, but not advisable. Some parts are a little rough, but the route is mostly gravel, so I'd say you'd be ok on a gravel bike.

    • @sometimestempersfly
      @sometimestempersfly 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great, thanks, @@nikolagereci2808 . I've seen a few videos and I see others using stocky gravel bikes.

    • @sometimestempersfly
      @sometimestempersfly 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nikolagereci2808 - one more question - is the route sign-posted or will we constantly have to consult our GPS or paper maps when we're coming to a junction?

    • @nikolagereci2808
      @nikolagereci2808  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sometimestempersfly no signposts I'm afraid. GPS device mandatory. I even managed to get lost in spite of consulting it every few minutes. But that's the beauty of bikepacking I guess 😅

    Great video. Slovenia has the record number of wandering bears in Europe. Werent you afraid to camp in the wild in the spring time ?

    • @nikolagereci2808
      @nikolagereci2808  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, luckily I didn't know that when I was there, so I wasn't afraid. Ignorance is bliss :). But I also haven't seen any bears while there. Since the route sticks to areas where civilization is always relatively close, I guess bears stay away and only wander through more wild territory.

    • @boyan64
      @boyan64 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bears are mostly in south-east Slovenia. Around Kočevje area, Ribnica…

    • @nikolagereci2808
      @nikolagereci2808  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      patterickable I'm sure you'll have a great time. The place with the bridge/stream are the limestone caves of Rakov Škocjan. It's a really amazing place, and make sure you definitely visit it. It's near Postojna, and clearly marked on the route map as a POI. It's also clearly signposted along the way.

    how happy were you with the hammock setup? and did you have an alternative when there was a lack of trees? you think you could do tour with a rigid bike with plus tires?

    • @nikolagereci2808
      @nikolagereci2808  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very happy. Slovenia is basically a one big forest, so there was never a problem when I had to find a camping spot. I would sleep in a hammock if I had to do this tour again.
      The only alternative I had was a ground setup with the tarp that comes with the hammock, but I didn't have to use it.
      But, I would also manage if I had a tent. I think both setups are viable for this route.
      A rigid bike with plus tires would be almost perfect. I rode my trail bike because that's my only mountain bike, but I would have chosen a plus rigid bike if I had one. There is almost no technical singletrack on the route, so there's almost no need for suspension.
