Longlegs is a very creepy movie for sure. I think it’s at least effective in that way. I hope this makes sense, but the movie really plays on your senses. Sound being the most impactful in my experience.
The Substance is easily my favourite horror movie of the year. Body horror aren't usually my thing, not because they're bad but i just couldn't watch it all that much but The Substance was the first ever body horror I experienced in a theater with a packed crowd and let me tell you, it's easily one of the greatest theater experience of my entire life. The last 30 minutes was so crazy, it was the first time where I accidentally screamed during the monster final form reveal. It was so gross, so creepy yet so well done. The fact that it was prostetics around the actress is so amazing. I hope it gets the award attention that it deserves 🙌
Is it weird that I didn’t feel gross out while watching the movie? I ate through the movie without problem. I didn’t feel creeped out or scared. I don’t feel grossed out anymore which brought the movie down for me. I enjoyed the story but I don’t like it as much as some people unfortunately

While ‘I saw the tv glow’ really isn’t a horror movie, the ending might be one of the most dread inducing scenes I’ve ever seen, with having one of the greatest soundtracks for me

I personally ADORED Mr. Crocket. It was easily one of my favorite horror films in a while, the idea was so creative, the visuals are awesome, Mr Crocket himself is an instant icon in my eyes, he’s such a fun character with a great performance and so much potential, I hope he gets more recognition and that he becomes a modern horror icon like M3GAN or Art the Clown.

We watched Oddity when it came out in theaters and it was a MUCH BETTER viewing experience than watching at home. The sound design was great and we were tense the entire time. It's a shame it had such a short time in the theater (a week I think?). It definitely deserved a longer theater release

Hey Cris Amber Alert actually did have a limited theater release on Sep 27, 2024 and later on streaming.... Oh you forgot to mention Megan Fox's new Sci-fic Thriller film "Subservience" which I heard was pretty good. In the Netflix film "Don't Move" that was my classmate Kelsey Asbille who was the lead actress in this film. I think in "Women Of The Hour" film focus on Anna Kendrick's character because she was about to go on a date with that serial killer and had a creepy feeling about him. She later changed her mind which saved her life. FUN FACT: Tubi movies are owned by Fox corporation and also carry programming from (Disney, Sony, Paramount, Warner Brothers ect) is the reason why sometimes they have really good cinematic films.
I loved I SawThe TV Glow and thought it was about the existential horror of nostaglia. Like it puts a sparkling sheen over what was actually traumatic and depressing. Also ever since i watched this ive been silently contending for Justice Smith as Iceman in the mcu

I liked the first third of Carved. It was great that it got to the cool killer pumpkin pretty quickly. But because of that it needed to ramp up to something crazier for the finale and it didn't at all. They really ran out of ideas and budget. It was based on a short from 2018 and they should have just made a 30 minute short instead of trying to drag it out to full feature length.
Nah the time travel parts of totally killer were the best. Probably the only time I've ever seen a piece of use the Mandela effect correctly. In honestly thought Michael Kennedy wrote totally killer. I really hope Heart Eyes (cowritten by Landon and Kennedy) and Drop (directed by Landon) are a return to form for the both of them.
my top 5 horror movies for 2024 were: The Substance Smile 2 Strange Darling waiting to see Heretic as I think it will be on the list. Also waiting for Nosferatu as it may close out the list for me. Longlegs had a good start, but I think they revealed Nic Cage's character too early. I was expecting him to be more scarier. I fell asleep on Strangers Chapter 1; they could just do straight to streaming for the next two. It doesn't feel like anything new is being brought. I watched all Terrifier movies; good gore, T3 gore was disgusting but no real plot in any of them. Carved was boring. Time Cut was okay but Totally Killer was way better. I liked Don't Move; I only knew a little about it but I enjoyed it. Great video.
I watched carved on the day of Halloween and o boy I’m so glad I did that movie has like a small Disney ride and I couldn’t enjoy it more 100% recommend ofc it was a low budget movie with a poor plot and a poor excuse to make a villain but I disagree with what this video said, even though some of the things in this movie were just dumb in a non-enjoyable way there were tons of creative choices that were made in the making of this movie so even though this video may say otherwise I would win 100% recommend at least watching.
Mr. Crocket was unexpectedly fantastic. Without the guy playing Mr. Crocket, the movie def falls but he really made the movie and did a great job as a scary villain. Idk if there's been a movie done like this before, but im a huge fan. Like an insane Mr Roger or Hip Hop Harry lmaoo.

I just realized that the chick in I Saw In The TV Glow is Cassie from Atypical 😂 I saw this film in theaters and it's one of those movies that live rent free in your mind. I personally related on a neurodivergency level as I often tend to "mask" a lot vs. letting my true self out. Good stuff.

I really enjoyed Oddity too but it was awfully predictable for me from the very early on which turned out what i had predicted lol But it has some good scares and the story overall was still great. Almost... close in my list but couldn't because that predictable storyline so.

I read that sue develops her own mind separate to Elizabeth (apparently it’s very uncommon when on the substance), which is why you see them not remembering what each other had done in the previous week and why Elizabeth can wake up.
As someone who has actually 'watched' Carved when it was on Hulu, I was asking myself, 'This was the short that fans wanted to be a feature length movie?'. I mean yeah if this was aired during the 80s, fans wouldn't really care about its characters or story (Or lack thereof), they just want to watch a pumpkin kill people for little to no reason at all. My issue(s) with this movie is that it 'vaguely' explains the town suffered due to their own actions, we don't really have enough time to know the cast because within moments this pumpkin is killing them. They have these stereotypes that 'maybe' worked in previous movies, but their execution today... just didn't really offer much else. Honestly, I can think of 'better' Hulu shorts that could do well like 'The Hug' or 'The Gillymuck' but if we were looking for a good horror movie, and off Hulu of all places... there could be better. As for Mr. Crockett... I was initially interested with this movie. I was thinking, 'Huh... an evil Mr. Rogers movie... I'd watch that!'. When I did, I admit that I found some of the kills creative, there was some intrigue with its lore surrounding the origins of our killer, it did touch on broken families and how much they need one another during difficult times, and the actual world of Mr. Crocket reminds me of 'The Banana Splits' horror movie in terms of color scheme and demonic representation of the characters inhabiting the world. But one of my issues was how there were 'barely' any likeable characters, you didn't really feel bad for the parents killed off by Crocket, you question Crocket's motivations (Some would even call him a hypocrite), it kind of focuses on the 'Tell More and Show Less' approach (Some scenes do 'show' to justify the discussion, but not much), and the kid... how can I feel bad for a boy who mostly acts like a spoiled brat even during his father's passing? I mean 'yes' there are kids who are like, there 'are' parents who are so frustrated with their lives and the things they say to their kids can be taken out of context. I really want to 'love' this movie, even if it offers plot devices that are not 'entirely' new, but as far as the payoff goes... this much I can say. Fans are either going to 'like' this movie because the guy came a long way from a 'short' project or... they'd rather be watching 'Blood n' Honey'. That said, if I were to pick 'any' of those Hulu movies that stand a chance at having a franchise... I do agree that there's still a chance for Mr. Crockett. It has all the right ingredients to potentially have a franchise, much like 'Nightmare on Elm Street' but in reverse. Maybe the first try didn't go that great, but then what other films didn't have a good start and got better over time? Ever since the first 'Terrifier' movie, even when some people say the sequels still don't have a plot, they got 'better' after each sequel, and they came a long way since those 'short films'. And again, 'Blood n' Honey', the first movie was considered 'terrible' because it took itself too seriously... but when the sequel came out, even if it still had its problems, it was a significant improvement. If the creator(s) behind Mr. Crockett can learn from this experience, what went well and what DESPERATELY needs to be improved, I can see an improved sequel where we should be feeling sympathy for the victims, that we can see 'more' of how powerful Crockett truly is, and with a bigger budget, it can get better. But for now... Mr. Crockett has a LONG way to go from being the next horror icon and MANY have 'tried' over the years.
I watched Longlegs again and found that I appreciated it more, its actually a damn good movie, hopefully Chris comes around on it someday.

Honestly, I can think of 'better' Hulu shorts that could do well like 'The Hug' or 'The Gillymuck' but if we were looking for a good horror movie, and off Hulu of all places... there could be better.
As for Mr. Crockett... I was initially interested with this movie. I was thinking, 'Huh... an evil Mr. Rogers movie... I'd watch that!'. When I did, I admit that I found some of the kills creative, there was some intrigue with its lore surrounding the origins of our killer, it did touch on broken families and how much they need one another during difficult times, and the actual world of Mr. Crocket reminds me of 'The Banana Splits' horror movie in terms of color scheme and demonic representation of the characters inhabiting the world. But one of my issues was how there were 'barely' any likeable characters, you didn't really feel bad for the parents killed off by Crocket, you question Crocket's motivations (Some would even call him a hypocrite), it kind of focuses on the 'Tell More and Show Less' approach (Some scenes do 'show' to justify the discussion, but not much), and the kid... how can I feel bad for a boy who mostly acts like a spoiled brat even during his father's passing? I mean 'yes' there are kids who are like, there 'are' parents who are so frustrated with their lives and the things they say to their kids can be taken out of context. I really want to 'love' this movie, even if it offers plot devices that are not 'entirely' new, but as far as the payoff goes... this much I can say. Fans are either going to 'like' this movie because the guy came a long way from a 'short' project or... they'd rather be watching 'Blood n' Honey'.
That said, if I were to pick 'any' of those Hulu movies that stand a chance at having a franchise... I do agree that there's still a chance for Mr. Crockett. It has all the right ingredients to potentially have a franchise, much like 'Nightmare on Elm Street' but in reverse. Maybe the first try didn't go that great, but then what other films didn't have a good start and got better over time? Ever since the first 'Terrifier' movie, even when some people say the sequels still don't have a plot, they got 'better' after each sequel, and they came a long way since those 'short films'. And again, 'Blood n' Honey', the first movie was considered 'terrible' because it took itself too seriously... but when the sequel came out, even if it still had its problems, it was a significant improvement. If the creator(s) behind Mr. Crockett can learn from this experience, what went well and what DESPERATELY needs to be improved, I can see an improved sequel where we should be feeling sympathy for the victims, that we can see 'more' of how powerful Crockett truly is, and with a bigger budget, it can get better. But for now... Mr. Crockett has a LONG way to go from being the next horror icon and MANY have 'tried' over the years.
