- The original Quanjude Peking Roast Duck location established in 1864 during the Qing Dynasty operates in Qianmen with several other branches in other locations in Beijing.
Serving up to 5,000 meals a day, this restaurant covers a floor area of 15,000 square meters with over forty private dining rooms and can simultaneously seat 2,000 guests.
Having established a history and affiliation with the Chinese government at the municipal and central state level, Quanjude has often been used to hold state banquets and to receive celebrities, dignitaries, and important government figures from over 200 countries as distinguished VIP guests.
During the APEC banquet held at the Water Cube in Beijing on Nov 10th 2014, eight chefs from Quanjude Group performed a live demonstration on how to carve Peking duck.

They commercialized too heavily in the last decade and are no longer the best duck restaurant in the city. Not Even Close. It's a terrible thing how greed ruined such a prestigious old brand. If you want good duck. Ask a local where to go.
I guess its more about the experience than the food at this particular location - I have seen other locations, they aren't as special.
@@FollowMe88 The other locations definitely aren't as decorated as Quanjude, but have you tasted their food? Quanjude's got great decor and service. Other duck restaurants the locals go to has the food down to a T. Of course I'd love to have both good decor and great tasting food. Personally, if I had to choose, the taste of food always comes first.
Well the thing is you mention the last decade. So I dont know what it's like today. But I was invited at the 德 聚全 in 2006. Business. We had a private room for dinner. And I remember a UNIQUE experience. Never ever in my life (I am an old bloke) did I eat such a tasty duck. It was a must. It would be a pity and a great loss if quality deteriorated. I had duck on many occasions in Europe. Real great. Gorgeous. Znd surprisingly, I had duck at one of the most famous restaurants in Europe as well: no match. Obviously, recipe was completely different.
@@jjt9201 I am not surprised. I think QJD was still da bomb in the early-mid 2000s. Were the ducks you had in Europe slow roasted by wood or?
@@hugeassets8678 No they were not. I am French so I had "Confit de canard" duck confit (great), "Canard à l'orange" duck with orange (great as well) , but I was a bit disappointed with "Canard au sang" blood duch, expected to be something special. May be I was not able to appreciate it. My palate.
