It would be super interesting if you reviewed the “glow up diaries” series that alivia d'andrea did. I watched it, and although it seems she is ultimately aiming for health, she has some extremely disordered thoughts and behaviours with food. I think series 2 will be different, but to me, series 1 was not great, it seemed to be promoting the toxic diet culture ideology and drawing a thin line between truth and very strange myths about nutrition.

Yes!! I watched the glow up diaries when it first came out, and then I stopped.
Out of curiosity I checked out her channel two years later , to see how she was doing, and was surprised with the abundance of episodes. Some of the messages she sends are upsetting to me, and I’ve been wanting someone to analyze the series because I swore I was the only one who felt some of her messages were problematic.

Abbey I'd like to see a video on foods that allegedly spike blood sugar levels. E.g. I always eat wholewheat bread because we're told white bread will spike our blood sugar levels and make us more hungry. But sometimes I wonder how much of a concern this really should be. But then if I DO eat the white bread, I'm expecting to feel hungry, so I feel like my brain is tricking me into thinking I'm hungrier than I am (the opposite of the placebo effect maybe?) Anyway, even if it's true, I'd still be interested in your thoughts on how much of a consideration this is for you in your everyday life. I think I maybe take it too far into borderline orthorexia territory.

Another few ideas for adding produce to that menu:
    - Bell peppers in the eggs
    - Apple slices in the tuna salad (sounds weird but it’s super tasty)
    - Roasted broccoli in the pasta
One of the things I loved about Azlia’s video is how unfussy the prep was, and using frozen veggies would keep that theme. You can buy frozen diced peppers and onions and either sautée them or microwave them to thaw. And frozen broccoli roasts *beautifully*.

I like that you never demonize anything as long as it feels good for that person. For example, you don’t demonize low carbs in a diet as long as it feels good to that particular person. I’m still trying to get my relationship with food right and I just try to do what makes my body feel good. This video was an amazing view into a normal everyday diet that feels right to this person in particular. No weird rules or gimmicks.

I'm always a little confused when people use chickpea or lentil pasta. My regural spaghetti (Barilla) has 13g of protein per 100g and it costs under 2 euros. Lentil pasta has like 15grams and it way more expensive. I understand that lentils and chickpeas are vegetables so it's better in that area but often those pastas are advertised as protein source for vegetarians or vegans.

type one diabetic here - not saying this is for your day-to-day average joe, but caffeine actually can raise your blood sugars (depending on your hormones). For myself, I am most insulin resistant in the morning and my cortisol levels are at their highest. If I were to have caffeine and not adjust accordingly, my blood sugars shoot up very high (and usually hover for a few hours, even if I exercise).
From my knowledge, this is due to the fact that cortisol is found in the adrenal glands and secreted in response to stress which caffeine can activate that response.
Just a thought to add - just because it doesn’t have carbs, doesn’t mean it won’t raise your blood sugar!

The lunch would stay fuss free if she added a whole apple (no cutting) and baby carrots/celery sticks on the side (limited cutting), which is honestly what I eat most lunches w my sandwich. No extra time or energy spent and still relatively cost effective. :) and also add some chopped zucchini into the pasta. That pasta looked really good btw :)

Abbey! Thank you for all you do! I am not sure if you would consider a video on diet and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome?
I was diagnosed fall of last year and boy let me say it is still just a lot. The core of it is having mast cells that overreact to a huge array of things, but diet is a big source! Triggers can vary person to person, but there is a huge focus on histamines; in MCAS your mast cells release histamines in extreme amounts in response to things that don’t cause that in regular bodies, such as stress, or even emotions. Many foods can be high in histamines so eating those foods adds more histamines can can cause debilitating effects as the release of histamines and other compounds from the mast cells triggers inflammation in the body as part of the immune response. In someone with MCAS this understandably leads to flare ups of extreme inflammation (I know this is often a buzzword in health communities). I am in the middle of a bad flare up, seeing my doctor after an upright MRI and CT scan of my neck with rotation we found I have quite a few severe abnormalities in my neck, especially stenosis of the central canal in my cervical spine. During the flares, my neck pain and chronic migraines get extreme. I lose control of my limbs, have searing burning pain throughout my body, have had everything neck down go numb, even having severe episodes of slurring my speech and completely forgetting where I am.. It’s something we are trying to seek treatment for. It’s a lot of things going on at once and these flare ups can be seemingly random but we are noticing a pattern of those episodes coinciding with my MCAS. It’s been a year and a half since the episodes like that started.. It’s been painful emotionally and physically, and honestly at times terrifying.
I apologize if that was too many details, but my point is, there is a very high lack of understanding or awareness in the medical field let alone general public of MCAS. Your channel has been extremely educational for me but as I’ve learned with time my body cannot tolerate the same things a typical body can, and it’s been difficult to learn through trial and error as there are a multitude of things that can be affecting my MCAS at any given time. I’ve had allergy testing through an asthma and allergist doctor, and reacted to 47 different foods, it’s a lot to say the least. I understand you aren’t necessarily a doctor that specializes in MCAS, but if you ever made a video giving an overview of it that would be amazing! It wouldn’t surprise me if many people in this community benefit from it as MCAS isn’t talked about in much media and could raise awareness and bring a better general understanding for people like me.
With all my heart again thank you for the amazing work you do, I truly enjoy your videos and your realistic approach to topics around health. I love the research and detail you go into on various topics on your channel and that you don’t buy into pseudoscience or ungrounded practices. Sending all my support and wishing you a successful year!
