The Yakima ShowDown 8004081 Load Assist Kayak and Stand Up Paddleboard Carrier is the first side loader for both kayaks and SUPs. The ShowDown's slide and tilt mechanism allows you to load your kayak or SUPs at waist height, making loading and unloading easier - especially after a day on the water. The 4081 ShowDown includes flexible width-adjustable felt covered kayak and SUP saddles that easily conform to the size and contours of your boat or boards. The ShowDown's flip out loading platform folds flat when not in use, providing a low profile for improved overhead clearance. The 8004081 ShowDown features tool-free installation with built-in universal mounting hardware, and may be locked to your crossbars for additional security (SKS Lock cores are sold separately - see below). The ShowDown is compatible on most vehicles with Yakima, Thule, Rhino-Rack Malone and Inno after-market crossbars - specific vehicle fits and crossbar lengths will be required for the ShowDown to have proper side clearance. You must have a minimum of 3.5" of crossbar protruding beyond the tower and the outboard clamp can be no farther than 4" from the tower. Heavy-duty tie-down straps and bow stern tie-downs are included.
Not compatible with factory crossbars, flush mounted crossbars, Yakima's BaseLine roof rack, or any other roof rack that mounts similar to the BaseLine rack.

Nice. Will this rack hold a 114lbs tandem pedal kayak with a 36" width?

Unfortunately no. Weight rating on the ShowDown is 80lbs.

Unfortunately, there is no attachment that would allow a single Yakima ShowDown to carry two kayaks. Thanks for watching!

How far apart would be best for a 17' foot sea kayak?

Hi Steve,
Because the ShowDown cradles must be close enough within your arm span to be able to use the load assist, we would reccomend placing them as far away as possible where you are still able to lift the kayak up onto your vehicle with the load assist.

will this fit on Tesla model Y roof rack?

According to Yakima's fit guide, the ShowDown appears not to be compatible with the Tesla factory roof rack. This is common of factory crossbars with this product. A certain amount of overhang is required to use this product that most factory crossbars don't provide unfortunately.

Unfortunately, that kayak would be well over the weight capacity of the ShowDown.
