Going to be tackling this tomorrow in my S1000R. Seems simple enough.

Place a sheet of tinfoil under your oil filter, above your headers and shape it so the oil drains into your pan. No mess!

bmw oil is the safest bet, as far as the same weight oil car vs bike, i have noticed sometimes the motorcycle oil is specific for bikes and say for small higher performance engine. don't know if they have different heat transfer properties or not perhaps? everyone has an opinion on oil. i figure i'll use the right/good oil since i push the engines hard and would hate to save a few bucks and cause damage to the engine, but others might use cheaper oil, and never have an issue. it's whatever risk a person wants to take.

Instead of having to safety wire it up everytime, just get a R clip to go through there, safety wire the clip, to the exhaust and no need to safety wire every time. Just check with your race organization if they allow it like that though.

good idea, i'm trying to remember if the rule book allowed that or not? i'll have to look this fall when i hopefully get to race again.

Hey, i did go back and watch, and at 17 sec, i do say I run the bike to get the oil warm. it was right after the intro, so you might've missed it, but i did cover that, and no, it's not my first time. i've been changing oil in bikes for 30 years. ;)
