I love how the instructors do the PT with the cadets instead of lazing around. Waiting to become 21 years old is gonna be the longest years of my life!
hey man I get where your coming from I'm 24 currently in process for my local Police service here in Canada. One peace of advice for you. enjoy the ride there is no rush policing will always be there. Anything worth having will always take time
This is the sort of Academy every police cadet should go through. The CHP sets a high standard for excellence. I watch videos of real life foot chases in California and the CHP always runs down the suspect. These fleeing suspects are faster than ever nowadays. I'm proud to be in California where I know our CHP officers will respond with swiftness and without fear. Stay safe throughout your career. You are the best of the best.
I went through the CHP academy 35 years ago. The feeling, thoughts, sights and sounds are still very vivid in my mind when I watch these last two episodes.
This month marks my 40th anniversary of showing up at 3500 Reed Ave, West Sacramento, CTC 1-83 and wearing the smurf blue uniform shirt. As the world is a changing place it is refreshing to see that some things have remained constant, like gravity and this institution. I was very honored and humbled to later return and earn the position of being an instructor for certain subjects. "Felony a Day" Respectfully submitted, Binder Dundat.
Physical readiness is an absolute must. PT will get easier as time goes on because you will be getting into better shape. Running in the Army was the same, you never knew when it was going to end, you just ran until the drill sergeants said to stop. Always be prepared for that. Way to get over that wall, Mendoza! Great job. I’m rooting for you guys/gals! Go CHP!
I am sooo enjoying watching and learning what they are going through as Cadets *** I think very highly of CHP and have met a few both in OC and at Police Week nearby *** Thanks for sharing these videos....
I’m loving these videos. In 1974 I took out an application but didn’t return it. I know now I could have never passed the PT! I’ve been married for 21 years to a retired CHP sergeant. I have new respect for him!
I had no clue why so many cadets didn't go prepare and were so out of shape, especially women. . I ran 5 miles, did 50 push up and sit up every day for over 6 months to prepare for my police academy. I was not the best shape in my PT class.
These videos are good help for me. Knowing what to expect when signing up for the academy. I want to be CHP officer. I’m a 22 year old fat ass. I am disciplining myself everyday and training hard everyday. Just know when I step foot in that academy. I will come prepared. I will come ready. And I will accomplish everything it takes to pass the academy. I will not let anything get in my way. Im coming strong and hard headed. Sincerely, Mr. Medina. Future CHP officer
I’ve been busting my behind for the past year. I really want to be a CHP officer, unfortunately for me I got DQ’d during backgrounds for my dumb decisions when I was younger. I will be eligible to reapply next year.
I never wrote my local Hayward CHP office to thank them so many years ago. Let me take this opportunity to do it. I had always wanted to do a ride-along. Well, a person I got to know was a CHP officer and she arranged a ride-along for me despite me not being interested in joining the CHP. I understand that ride alongs were only available for potential recruits. So I snuck in under the radar!" It was such a great experience! I feel super lucky to have been able to spend a few hours driving up and down I880 in the East Bay one afternoon. Boy did we see a BUNCH of knucklheads driving illegally in the carpool lane. One dude was driving his borrowed dad's tricked out pickup truck alone in the carpool lane WITH WARRANTS! Ha, ha, the CHP officer just laughed as he was carted off to jail and the pick up was towed. "Why drive 'dirty' with warrants?" she mused. When I got in the police vehicle, she asked, "Can you shoot?" I said yes, so she replied, "Well then if the shit goes down, grab the AR-15 and shoot at the bad guys!" She then gave me the code for the rifle lock between the seats! OH DAMN!!! But before we even got into the car, I got to sit in on that shift's briefing. And HOLY SHIT did I ever hear the craziest story from the sargeant on duty. (Blew me away! Sorry, that story will have to wait...) Anyway, my officer said, "I did GREAT in the academy until I got to the driving section. I came THIS close to failing out it, was so hard. But I learned the maneuvers and finally passed. Oh man, I can do ANYTHING in a car now!" It was awesome to hear her share her experiences. So thanks CHP to you for allowing me such a memorable experience. And here's to you doing tough, dangerous jobs on our highways. We really owe you a pretty serious amount of appreciation for what you do.
This is ridiculous... then they spend most of their shift sitting down in a unit and rarely chase a suspect more than a block. They say they're short of manpower, but go head and discard most of those who want to join. 🤨🤨
Seen this video I don't know if I'll pass the academy and I work out I'm 41 I Doo my pushups walk run and Doo burpees I'm street trained but much respects to you guys so what I want to say is this don't feel bad if you don't pass the police 🚨 academy the important thing is that even if u lose (don't pass) u get up from the floor and keep moving (trying) as long as u don't give up give in u on top even if you lose but at least u tryed again more likely u guys r more fit than me

You can apply at 20 bro. CHP allows that. As long you graduate at 21.
Why wouldn't they?

What was the reason for your DQ bro? I’m nervous for the backgrounds

LAPD has a pre-academy workout program to get you prepared for these workouts at the Academy.
Amazing! Lots of hard work!😂
I’m 19 waiting to turn 20 and a half, I want to join the CHP. But I heard it takes forever to just get into the academy
We've made many changes to the hiring process. We now have applicants that are in the academy less than one year from application.
@@CaliforniaHighwayPatrolTVthanks for the information 👍. God willing I will get in. Meanwhile I’m gonna work on the exercises I seen in the videos. 😅
Physical Fitness is a key component to academy success and a great asset to have as an officer out in the field.
Didn’t it used to be 21 at time of appointment? At least i seem to remember something about that.
Theres no way I’m seeing this and seeing Officer Reyes at 5:09. I’m on her tow rotation and see her all the time!
I thought all police academies were like this. If not, they should be.
Pork run! 💪🏻😎
I Would like to enroll
