Ah, bullshit. I am an ex aquarium owner and Chiclids breeder. I've bred Cardinal Tetra. These little fish breed best in a naturally set environment, the same as where they came from. To breed them successfully you need at least 10 Cardinals with at least 5 of them being males and no other fishes like Danios, Cherry Barbs, Rasboras, etc., to stop eating eggs and fry. The tank can be a 3x18x18, or 4x18x18. The tank for breeding is converted into two compartment with a sliding down glass plate. The large compartment is for breeding and the other compartment (which is less than a foot wide) is to return the fish in after they laid their eggs, to avoid stressing them when they are transferred out of the tank with a net and to avoid disturbing the eggs with the net while trying to catch the nervous fish. With the glass plate slides down into position, prepare the whole tank similar to their wild environment but make sure the glass plate can be slides up or down without jamming with plants and such. Both size tanks need lots of plants, including moss, driftwood to stain the water a light brown and a thin layer of brown or beige colored substrates not even a quarter of an inch thick. This substrate is there to make the fish think there is a bottom, as glass base is not encouraging the fish to breed. All live plants are inserted into 2 inch wide by two high canisters (pots) filled with coarse substrate to hold plants down. Since the pots have holes, make sure the substrate doesn't escape through the holes. The tank setting has to be an exact or similar environment to that of where they came from, Rio Negro, Brazil to Colombia. Rio Negro means black river because of the rotten timber, leaves and roots of trees staining the water a light brown, but it's not really black. Bright aquarium lights discourage breeding. It's recommended to use half the brightness if possible. If not, plants that creates shade are recommended. I used a timed dimmer that I made back in '84. It started as a dim light in the morning to fully on an hour later and at 6pm it gradually dimmed to off after one hour. It did not startle the fish. Nowadays you can buy units that do it electronically. Feeding was controlled. Favorite food was TetraMin flakes, blood worms, small garden flying insects e.g. mosquitos, ant larvae, finely chopped beef and chicken meat - breast, leg, etc., quail meat, and tiny pieces (1/8 of an inch) of freshly boiled egg yolk. That's how you breed these fish without problems. Once the eggs are seen, you have 2 choices, remove the parents if if you don't have a divided tank, or move then in the smaller compartment of the tank so that the proud parents can watch the result of their labor. A divided can be made in any way, using non toxic material. White plastic C channels are a good material for sliding a glass plate. Adhere two strips of glass 2-3 inches wide as high as the water level to form a 'fence', then adhere two strips of C channels at each end of these glass strips. Have a glass plate cut to size in height and 1/8 of an inch shorter to fit into the C channels so that it can be raised and lowered without sticking. Aeration and filtration of both compartments is critical. Water softness seem to play an important factor in breeding as it makes the fish think it's raining. To do that same effect, prepare two non toxic clear plastic tubes and drill a line of small holes lesz than an eight of an inch. Clea the tubes of burr and wash them. Place them on top the tank 2 or 3 inches above the surface and join the three ends with a plastic soft tubing, one end goes to a water outlet from the pump, the other end goes to the first tube, while the other end of the first tube is joined to the second tube w/o the the soft tubing, and finally the end of the second tubing is plugged to stop the water from escaping. Use something to reduce the light brightness that represents clouds overhead. Turn a valve that directs the water to these tubes with a controlled flow to simulate rainfall with each tube hole dropping a drop of water at 1/2 to 1 second interval, while the rest of pumped water continues undisrupted. These raindrops are to be used at least weekly, just like their natural environment. However, water softness and temperature need to be constantly monitored for the breeding of these fishes. In the wild, heat downpour bringscwater from the hills, it cools the water, changes the hardness and make it murky. So, when the water is aged and ready, place the fish in the large compartment and 'nurse' them until they show signs of mating and egg lying. If you see them laying eggs in time, monitor them until egg laying is complete, then gently lift the dividing glass plate and with a stick of wood spatula try to 'herd' the parents towards the small compartment and lower the glass plate so that they can relax. Now wait till the eggs hatch. This tank now will be home to these young fish for some time until they can be relocated, or sold. Cheers.

Some lovely colour in those tanks - awesome stuff and java moss is a great receptacle for small fish eggs. Many of the breeders around here use a base of marbles to prevent the eggs being eaten but I reckon that java moss is much better since the tank can be maintained in a natural condition after the spawning with no need for moving the fry. Thanks for you vids, man, I love the little neons... I loved my tanks when I had several in my apartment back in the day... and sure was fun to atch the dwarf gouramis gettin all busy and making bubble nests etc.... so much fun to watch all the fish, and their behaviours. Even had some koi diamond angelfish... god they were gorgeous... got to watch them spawn too on the long bladed plants. I am glad to have found you here. Great stuff.
Love this video series! I started soaking some peat yesterday. I would love for you to do a breeding video on Clown Loaches. Those are so expensive here in the states and it would be great to reproduce them myself.
Top Vids Mark, please keep them coming. Can you please tell the make and size of breeder tanks, if possible where to get them. I'm planning a few breeder tanks in the garage, just dont tell the Mrs.
Hi! Since I'm from Brazil, I'm having some trouble with a few translations. Can someone explain to me what is that substratre/dirt he's putting on the two tanks at 10:50? How is it called?

Just to keep you updated Mark. I had a peek with my magnifying glass. There is definitlry some life of some sort. I boiled the compost before and adder some fresh plants from my tank. I saw a couple of worms but just under the water surface i see like white things moving. I cannot say they look like fish yet. I hope it is them.
I just bought some green neon tetras Paracheirodon simulans. Hoping to have as much success as you did in a few months. I bred white clouds this summer. I got more fry with just using one pair per tank. I am assuming it to be the same with neons. Thanks for sharing your breeding expertise.
Hi Mark like you I used to keep marines and have gone back to my roots. I have a problem with my goldfish tank plants won't grow in it lighting is with about 150 watts of led I have tried with ei nutes but no success as of yet. I have a small tropical tank upstairs and I can't stop pulling out massive plant growth. I know goodies are destructive but not that bad surely. Any light you can shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Ps just watched your video on breeding tetras I think like my goldfish I will breed them as well. Regards Martin Steele
You are the man ,who done great job , is that any possible to reduce the video length ,few times i watched your other breeding videos ,its too long actually , can i know instead of peat moss anyother moss ? i bought peat moss from amazon they send it but thats more like fertilizer i couldn't wash it ,its keep coming as dark black , is that you meant to say spagnum moss or any possible to send me amazon product link , would be helpful cheers.
I enjoyed this video and learned quite a bit. I was wondering if you could go over the parameters for keeping the Neons happy and healthy shall we say. I have a that is around 150PPM with 8.5 GH, 4.5 KH with a PH of what looks to be 7.4-7.6 which I think may be too high. I have lost 5 of 35 thus far. negligable nitrate cant read it planted tank cycled up for 5 weeks 4 weeks then fish introduction. I enjoy your takes on things, thanks so much....
Any chance you could go to a US website like lowes or home depot and let me know what kind of peat you are talking about? Is it sphagnum peat moss? Because I have some and soaked it in water and it still wasnt as dark as you are using but I am not sure if it's just the video showing the difference in color.
pH fluctuates in nature all the time. Many nano fish live in shallow flood pools where after rain pH can drop drastically over short period of time. Of course simply moving fish from a tank with pH 7 to tank with pH 6 will shock them, so do it gradually over 12-24 hour period. Best to do it during your next water change. Use water removed from the community tank and put it in spawning/conditioning tank. Move neons and then gradually change water in their conditioning tank with RO (or distilled water), add coco husk and botanicals, until pH and hardness drop sufficiently.
Hi mark I have added peat moss in the tank , but it’s very dark , rarely I can see the fish , what should I do to get the water but more clear ? Pls reply .
I haven’t had any luck with them laying. I have them with peat moss and java moss. How long is the process going to take? It’s been almost 4 days now and haven’t seen anything on the moss nor any fry.
Hi I've managed to get 2 batches of eggs but each time they have turned white within 24h I'm using Indian almond leafs blacking them out ro water with active soil to reduce ph its below 6 am I missing something to stop them going white ?
HI Mark, Thank you so much for taking the time and making these videos for all of us. You always have so much information. The neon Tetra is a favorite here in our home. I am up to 5 tanks now. Not sure if I am ready to breed the neons yet. But I know if and when i do, I know where to get the expert advice from. Thanks Again. Blessings to you
Those "laser pointers" are known as heat guns in my neck of the woods (the USA) :) Thanks so much for the info!! I'm intending to breed Gold Nugget Plecos, and I know they're tough to do, so anything I can glean is fantastic. They are a blackwater species like the neons, so I can adapt a lot of this.
Great video thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, you now have me into egg laying fish now lol 😂 only had live bearing ones now I have neons white mountain minnows ordered some zebra danios, empra tetras. 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️ and you definitely are the star
Do you have any tips on breeding the ember tetra (hyphessobrycon amandae)? Some of my females clearly have a lot of eggs but i cant get them to spawn. Should i try this neon tetra methode?
I feel like I am struggling with the conditioning. I feed regularly throughout the day in a community tank, with live BBS and some frozen bloodworms. There are 50 Green Neon Tetras so I feel there must be some females in there but they aren't getting super fat with eggs. Does the community tank water need a low TDS and pH whilst trying to get them up to size too?
Couple of questions: 1- How do you prepare the peat? I've checked aquarium water with peat and found out that peat gives out some Ammonia. 2- How long does it take for the fish to get comfortable in the little tanks? In my case they are nervous for the first week or so before feeling at home and starting to breed. Thank you so much for the informative videos
Hey boss what if I have my tetras in a community tank at 84 degrees. Do I have to slowing acclimate them before putting tbem In the breeding tanks?I got some really fat tetras I’m there with all the beef heart and blood worms I’ve been feeding my community tank.
One of my favorite nano fish. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos for all of us. Keep up the great work. You always call us stars but you are a star as well.
Hi Mark, Thanks for all your advice. I find your channel very educational. About the infusoria culture. I have a glass of cloudy water and mouldy cauliflower on top. Is this normal or have I done something wrong?
So two of my silvertip tetras where breeding today and I'm not sure what to so after that. The female is hiding in a cave now and wont come out. They're in there with another 10 tetras. What should I do? Idk if they spawned already but she sure is hiding. Do I take her out and put her in a different tank?
Hi Mark, I am currently undertaking my first ever attempt in breeding tetras. In this case Paracheirodon Simulans. The setup I used is a (almost exact) copy of yours in this video. I have some questions though regarding the peat and water conditioning. I used Black Peat by Aquarium Münster as substrate but even after 24 hours I can barely see the heater indicator light through the black water. I noticed at 17:20 in your video you were saying you used half tap water and half RO water to get your parameters right. Were water parameters the only reason for the water change or did you also do this to clear up the water a bit? I'm just asking this because I do have a reverse osmosis system at hand if needed.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Ok Mark, thanks for your quick response and clarification. I'll measure my PH later today (48h after setup) and see if I need to make some adjustments. Rain water is not really an option for me as I live approximately 1km from a steel plant, so I'll use my RO installation instead if I need to get the PH down.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Hi Mark, sorry to bother you again regarding this topic, but I was wondering how you acclimate you breeder fish to the lower PH and higher temperature in the breeding tanks. I usually use the dripping method, but what is safest for the higher PH difference between the tanks? My rearing tank is 22°C with a PH of 8.1 (tap water, dechlorinated). My breeding tanks are at 25°C and pretty acidic at a PH of 5.7... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Mark, when moving the tetras from the main tank (ph 6.8) to the breeding tank (ph 6.0) should i worry about drip acclimating them, or just match the temperature and transfer them into the breeding tank?
Is this at all possible in a community tank with other tetras & a few ghost shrimp? I just noticed one of my tetra's belly is Huge .. will they spawn if not taken out is what I want to know. This is the first time I noticed a prego mom in the 4 years I've owned them. THought of wetting some sphagnum moss put it in a bottom corner of tank & see if some babies survive. Sounds crazy I know, but wondered if it would be worth a try? I don't have extra heaters, bubblers etc .. to set another tank up::(
Hi Mark, thanks for the video! Just wondering I can't seem to find peat moss for sale here in New Zealand would drift wood be enough to lower the pH or what would you suggest.
@@Listopia10 You may be right I tossed some indian almond leaves in for my ghost shrimp . it had to of changed the PH to have perfect conditions for my tetra's to mate Lol
Hi Mark is it possible to introduce a small school of tetras to my breeding tank and let them breed. Also when I have to remove them from the breeding tank being about ph 5.5 to my show tank ph 7, does this not represent a problem. Is it OK to use tormec in my filter slowed right down. Regards Martin steele
Wonderful, If you keep this up Mark, I'm going to have buckets of fish everywhere,, lol. The java moss is just a little hard to come by for me, But i hear if you can ever get it growing it will end up everywhere..
Hi Mark I have a question do you mix tank water and ro water to breed them? Or can I just use ro water alone? Or mix half tank water and half ro water would that be fine?
Fantastic videos. I am living in Ireland and giving this a go. My water is normally a ph of 8. I am at the set up stage here and have peated down my tank. My ph has dropped to seven and I don't think it will go any lower. Am I wasting my time here or is there anything else I can do to drop it. I used aquarium water and topped up with treated tap water. Any advise you can give me would be mutch appreciated.
Hi. empty out half of the water and fill it back up with fresh rain water. todays tetras breed at various parameters as most are captive bred. Good luck.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Ok super . I have just checked and my ph has dropped below 7 as I have added some almond leaves but I will do as you say . Thanks again mark. Mush appreciated.

Hi Mark i am from the Netherlands and i must say i love the breedingvideo'sI want to breed all kind of fishI have some questions1In some of youre video's you made some food voor de new fry. How long is the microlife usable. ore is het continously usable2How long can i leave the adult fish after spawning in the same bole als the eggs3And also the same question voor de microworms to feed the fry after the infusoria.Kind regardsRonald
@@MARKSAQUATICS Thnx again. One question. I have seen in youre videos that you used a foamfilter. Is that attached to a airpomp ore a smal intern filter. i am a bit confused because you said that the fry is not the polutionmaking kind. KInd regards Ronald
Hey Mark.. Noticed the males fighting in the bench tank this AM and some chasing and enticing by the males. Breeder tank is all set up, parameters perfect. Should I chance it and separate the definite male and 2 other assumed females from the bench tank for spawning or should I wait until I actually see some spawning before moving in the evening, ready to see if they spawn in the AM? Some TH-camrs do it for one morning as they know the neons are ready, like yourself and others recommend moving them and keep feeding live food until they spawn, in the breeding tank. Reason why I'm cautious is I don't want to stress the 3 remaining Neons in the bench tank as I only have 6 in total and I know they stress if not in a shoal. Hence why I don't want to leave them more than an evening on thier own. Also there are 6 Zebra Danios, 6 juvenile female guppies and 2 juvenile swordtails in the bench tank so at times seems too many distractions for the neons to spawn undisturbed. Any advice would be massively appreciated. Cheers!
Thanks for the videoo!! I have one question for you, what are the tds of the breeding aquarium water? I want to breed my neons and every detail of information is great. TIA!
Hello Mark, I pray you are well. I know this is an older video but I hope this question reaches you. I am in the process of setting up to breed neon tetras (I never bred egg layers before). My question is about the PH. I understand that they need dark, soft, low PH water to make breeding happen. My concern is that my PH is 8 + and is extremely hard, I am worried that the fast change in PH and hardness will harm my adult fish. Do I need to worry, and at what age can I start to increase the babies PH? You're videos are the best!! I was going to start breeding these guys a little over a year ago, but life got in my way. I have been hooked on fish keeping since I was a small child and I am so excited to get started with breeding. Thank you for all you do, I don't think I would have the courage to even start this without your videos. God bless
Hi. You can do it this way. Put the water from your main aquarium in to your breeding tank but only fill halfway add the fish. Then slowly add rain water over a couple of hours. This will drop the PH and if your fish are conditioned well they should spawn ok. Add moss and Indian almond leaves to.
Since I have to stay home I thought I would learn something cool!
Thanks for the video series.

Bless you mark! and thank you! Forced out the hobby in 98 by the wife! your videos has inspired me to get back in and if need be change the wife 🙏🤭😇
clubskyhigh you’d sacrifice your relationship for your hobby?
Fab video! So knowledgeable Mark! 🙂 really like watching your videos. 🙂
Thanks for watching Annie. 😊
How long do you condition the neon tetras with heavy protein feedings before putting in spawning tank?
Could you please do a video on breeding Denison Barbs?
Love the intro, Mark!!
you would have to be the best Aquariust ive found on you tube helping fellow hobbyists learn more always wanted to breed tetraz only met one person tht could do it. you're a bloody good bugger
Cj Mack thanks for watching 😀👍
Thanks for you vids, man, I love the little neons... I loved my tanks when I had several in my apartment back in the day... and sure was fun to atch the dwarf gouramis gettin all busy and making bubble nests etc.... so much fun to watch all the fish, and their behaviours. Even had some koi diamond angelfish... god they were gorgeous... got to watch them spawn too on the long bladed plants.
I am glad to have found you here. Great stuff.
Very interesting look forward to watching part 2
Hello Mark I stumbled across your TH-cam channel and I'm absolutely hooked been watching straight for almost 3 days. LOL keep up the good work brother
Thank Mike 😀👍
Love this video series! I started soaking some peat yesterday. I would love for you to do a breeding video on Clown Loaches. Those are so expensive here in the states and it would be great to reproduce them myself.
Top Vids Mark, please keep them coming. Can you please tell the make and size of breeder tanks, if possible where to get them. I'm planning a few breeder tanks in the garage, just dont tell the Mrs.
I use the pets at home aquariums. They're good cheap aquariums for breeding.
Hi! Since I'm from Brazil, I'm having some trouble with a few translations. Can someone explain to me what is that substratre/dirt he's putting on the two tanks at 10:50? How is it called?
he said it's peat
subscribed, a man that knows what he's talking about
Thanks for watching Steven 😀👍
Thank you sir I know you're a very busy man... as we speak I'm having my coffee and watching one of your videos now thanks again for your advice! PS love the shop and the house awesome what you've done around the place
I have Harley Quinn, neon tetra, rummynose, white cloud minnows what goes well with them fish ??
Mark great video thanks can you tell me what if you don’t have reverse osmosis water can you just use ph down?
Yes you can. Fresh rain water is also good and use catappa leaves or oak leaves to soften the water. 😀👍
Can I use the solution to adjust the pH. does it have any effect ?. And how much TDS is good?. Thank you !
Just found this channel, great work, always great being able to share wisdom with other breeders!
Because I have some and soaked it in water and it still wasnt as dark as you are using but I am not sure if it's just the video showing the difference in color.
did you acclimate them before adding them to the aquarium?
Love your video! How do the neons adjust dropping from a community tank of ph of say 7 and then putting them in a tank with a ph below 6?
pH fluctuates in nature all the time.
Pls reply .
When i put in a peat soil base In thee tank and let it clear, the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates went off the charts. How did you manage this problem?
Will a cocos fibre block also suffice for breeding instead of peat?
I haven’t had any luck with them laying. I have them with peat moss and java moss. How long is the process going to take? It’s been almost 4 days now and haven’t seen anything on the moss nor any fry.
Very helpful videos. I noticed you haven't added a filter in either of the tanks, Is there a reason for that?
You only need to add a filter as they get older . When they are small they don't produce much waste so you can get away with small water changes.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Many thanks :-)
You are an absolute delight. Thank you for the great video! Cheers from Across the Pond.
Blessings to you
Thanks for watching 👍😀
Those "laser pointers" are known as heat guns in my neck of the woods (the USA) :) Thanks so much for the info!! I'm intending to breed Gold Nugget Plecos, and I know they're tough to do, so anything I can glean is fantastic. They are a blackwater species like the neons, so I can adapt a lot of this.
OMG 😲 loved that eel he was amazing 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️
Great video thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, you now have me into egg laying fish now lol 😂 only had live bearing ones now I have neons white mountain minnows ordered some zebra danios, empra tetras. 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️ and you definitely are the star
Thanks for watching. 👍😀
hello mr mark today i make infusoriya culture same like you but i use cauli flower, what do you will it work or not..?
Two questions. Is the peat for PH? Also, instead of broccoli, potato can be used instead. Just boiled potato? Thank you
did you climatize the tetras before putting them in those fish thanks??
Gorgeous eel. Nature is simply stunning in her aesthetics.
I brought two betta fish male and female how often do I have to change their water how many months do I have to wait before I can breed them
Do you have any tips on breeding the ember tetra (hyphessobrycon amandae)? Some of my females clearly have a lot of eggs but i cant get them to spawn. Should i try this neon tetra methode?
I feel like I am struggling with the conditioning. I feed regularly throughout the day in a community tank, with live BBS and some frozen bloodworms. There are 50 Green Neon Tetras so I feel there must be some females in there but they aren't getting super fat with eggs. Does the community tank water need a low TDS and pH whilst trying to get them up to size too?
Couple of questions:
1- How do you prepare the peat? I've checked aquarium water with peat and found out that peat gives out some Ammonia.
2- How long does it take for the fish to get comfortable in the little tanks? In my case they are nervous for the first week or so before feeling at home and starting to breed.
Thank you so much for the informative videos
In soft acidic water, ammonia is no longer toxic to fish. And considering that is the goal of these tanks I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Hey boss what if I have my tetras in a community tank at 84 degrees. Do I have to slowing acclimate them before putting tbem
In the breeding tanks?I got some really fat tetras I’m there with all the beef heart and blood worms I’ve been feeding my community tank.
Hey mark i am gonna try this one but in florida i cant find a proper peat can i use sand
No you need the peat of leafmould compost to lower the ph of the water. You could try Indian almond leaves or dry oak leaves.
Whats a peat?? Can i use soils found in plant nursery??
One of my favorite nano fish. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos for all of us. Keep up the great work. You always call us stars but you are a star as well.
Thanks Sean. Cheers for watching.⭐👍
MARK'S AQUATICS Not a problem. You make great videos.
Néon tetra its not a nano fish bro
Hi Mark, Thanks for all your advice. I find your channel very educational. About the infusoria culture. I have a glass of cloudy water and mouldy cauliflower on top. Is this normal or have I done something wrong?
Hi. Thanks for video. Are u turn on aquarium light when fry start free swimming or room light (low light) is better for them?
I enjoyed watching this vid. Excellent advice. Thank you for sharing!
Been loving your channel my friend!
what do you use as a substrate? peat? Should the breeding tank mature? Do you make water changes? values?
magnificent video. congratulations
Hi Mark love the videos. Where did you get the small tanks from?
will this work on green neon tetras and ember tetra as well?
Do you leave the broccoli in the water for weeks as well?
How do you manage the ph differences moving the fish around tank to tank?
Yes leave the broccoli in as it's the food source. Acclimate the fish one one tank to the other
So two of my silvertip tetras where breeding today and I'm not sure what to so after that.
I just use it drop the PH. You can also use rain water from a clean source.
Amazing videos. I have just moved home and miss my fish 🐠. Couldn't take them with me. So it's nice to get sum idea's for my new home/new fish tank's.
Same here in india, no peat moss in local stores. i think indian almond leaves would do the same trick.. but not sure
Very well explained. No need to speed it up, just cut to when something is done.
is it acquarium peat? or can it be any peat?
How long did you leave the adults in there to mate until you removed them?
Hi there its very fascinating to see this video. It encourages me to do one myself. Can i use a all organic plant soil?
And can you tell me where to get hold of aquatic peat in the event my idea of a tormec filter is wrong.
Good luck.
@@MARKSAQUATICS
Ok super . I have just checked and my ph has dropped below 7 as I have added some almond leaves but I will do as you say . Thanks again mark. Mush appreciated.
Awsome video sir. Thanks for the information. Happy fishkeeping
Thanks for watching 😀👍
Great video thanks for showing us.so how many tanks is that u have now? love your channel.what is the light u are using?
Around twenty tanks now! The light I'm using is a ikea grow light. There brilliant!!
Here's the link to my video on them. th-cam.com/video/0LfbYAU3x8g/w-d-xo.html
Wow very awesome video. Thank you so much, I had to stop watching it halfway through to put in a comment and I have never done that before. I would like to remind people never to buy fish at a box store,(Petco) and always watch for ich. Get a quarantine tank.
Thanks for watching 😀👍
Mark just watching back your video and I am just trying to bread these and will miro worms and Walter worms work too pls let me know cus I am ready to go just put me pear in a tank and wait and see pls reply like ya always do
Just found you channel - great videos, I'm going to have to give this one a go, I imagine it would be the same process for cardinal tetra's?
Yes I use the same method with cardinal tetra's.👍😀
the peat you mentioned is coco peat? or something else?
How often should I do water changes once they are free swimming? Thanks for the tips!
Hi Mark, I have constant Ph=6.5, no change between bench and breeding tanks; is this harming my breeding chances? Also, I have several large older females; should I use them or can females be too old?
Hi Mark i am from the Netherlands and i must say i love the breedingvideo'sI want to breed all kind of fishI have some questions1In some of youre video's you made some food voor de new fry. How long is the microlife usable. ore is het continously usable2How long can i leave the adult fish after spawning in the same bole als the eggs3And also the same question voor de microworms to feed the fry after the infusoria.Kind regardsRonald
The micro cultures will last for two weeks but fry only need it for the first week then you can give them freshly hatched brine shrimp.
Remove the adults as soon as they've stopped spawning ok.
He mark thnx for youre fast answer. keep up the good work.
TIA!
Always love when u breed and also show how to take care of their babies..
Sorry, can you explain to me, what a kind of "soil" do you need for breeding? Thank you
Its organic leafmould compost.
What size tanks are those? Would a 5.5g be a good size to breed them in?
My aquariums are 12 litres
Yours will be fine for breeding.
