I appreciate that they're trying to do something new with Guitar Hero, but it just doesn't look appealing to me at all. Having guitar only makes it feel like we're going all the way back to GHII. The live-action video looks silly and I don't like the whole free-to-play vibe I get from it. Rock Band may be more of the same, but they have such a strong foundation that they're sitting on. More instruments, a massive backlog of DLC that's guaranteed to be updated and the future ability to import old game set-lists. My only gripe is that the on-disk songs for RB4 are mediocre.

i think RB4 is better is better cause of the songlist,u can download songs as u cannot on GTL, and RB4 has a local multiplayer,why play with strangers on online multiplayer,when u can play with family on local
I never thought I would say this but I prefer to play Guitar hero live, And I am a rock band fanboy. I think they have done a fantastic job with GHL and I keep going back to play where as rock band 4 I have only played a handful of times but it is the same old game I love minus real online multiplayer.
Yeah GHTV gives you a reason to keep coming back and playing it as there are so many songs and there is a levelling up system whereas the only reason to play RB4 is if they add new songs that you like (which is subjective) or if they add a new feature in an update like online multiplayer

PianoSteve Rock band has more variety with a few from Skillet, some Bullet for my valentine and a heap of Green Day to choose from For me it has nearly all my favs; Disturbed, FFDP, TDG, Slipknot and Skillet with a bunch of other songs I don't mind:)

I have both. Guitar hero live on xbxo one and rockband 4 on ps4. Honestly i bought 2 sets of guitar hero live both the guitars were messed up out of the box so it really turned me off and the level cap is only 20 on gh live. Rockband 4 every insttrument works great and the online is coming in october this year. So in my personal opinion rock band 4 is a whole lot better than guitar hero live.
I was ok with GHTV, but the controller breaking after 3 or 4 months of playing the game and the Live part of the game being so cheesy and the set list being so weird (like the fact that you have to play dubstep on a guitar??? No thanks, that’s not realistic and it’s hella cheesy) broke the game for me and made me put it at nearly the bottom of the list of GH games except for GH1 because of how unplayable it is now. I appreciate that they wanted to give it a new feeling but I thought it was so poorly executed that I wanted to buy rock band 4 once my GHLive guitar broke but by that point it was almost $200 to buy it. It was such a huge disappointment imo.
As someone who has no DLC library or old instruments, GH Live is a much better value out of the box. As far as the "microtransactions" go, I preordered GH Live from Gamestop and got the hero cash bonus they threw in, which has given me about 150 "plays", ontop of the game throwing them at you left and right. I'd say I've used about 50 plays since I got the game, and I still have 178 left over. I don't foresee needing to give any money towards GH Tv anytime soon.

You pay already 100euros for the game and the controler, you have now 40 songs to play with offline and you are fine with the concept of being limited in the number of times you can play online. Why do Activision ruin every good game franchise. cod tony hawks now GH. all you had to do was keep the guitar as it was. As someone who plays real guitar I enjoyed ghs of old especially metallica. Like you said the career mode is done once and thats it. And only allow the player to play 40 songs if you have no internet is pretty cheap. GHTV is very interesting and quiet fun. However the microtransactions ruined it. It could have been a great game if they wouldnt have been so greedy. I know they are way less expensive as Rock Band and that they took the risk to innovate but still...

On this vid's content though I still don't have a new gen console and since I backed amplitude I'll likely get a ps4 1st. Which means I'll be getting gh live 1st as I have a huge song collection on Xbox. The thing that would push me into getting an xbone would be online multiplayer as it is a mode of play I use a lot on 360. And I still hope that they'll add keys support in at some point though I can understand it not being a priority.
Rock band you can chose your songs guitar hero live gives you a list of songs and you can only choose from those like on rock band you can choose the Beatles or AC/DC and play those songs AC/DC songs but on guitar hero live it’s just you don’t get to say what band of songs you want to play you just get songs you have to choose from those and I do not like the songs they give you

6 button GHL blows 5 button GH out of the water imo. It feels so much more natural, I played for hours the other night and didn't even realize it. I personally never did that with the older games. But If I would ever want to play 5 button GH or rock band again I would just go back to the old games.
Obviously RB4 is better because they don't cut parts of through the fire and the flames but the only bad thing is they didn't release RB4 on the wiiu hopefully they do with the switch

At the end of the day, it's up to your own personal taste. Personally I prefer the guitar's button layout and the variety Rock Band 4 has. The only reason why I haven't got Guitar Hero Live is for the fact it seems limited in it's song selection:/

Late to the party. I tried the demo for GHlive when it came out and found the new controls really interesting. At the time, I did some research on it and I didn't like the Online aspect and in comparison to DLC for Rock Band 4, the micro-transactions irked the hell out of me. For me the clear winner is RB4. I'm an 'older' gamer and the song lis,t coupled in the fact that you can export close to all the songs of RB 1, 2 and 3, gives you a huge playlist of classic rock and a good list of 80's that I enjoy. I lost all my peripherals in a flood and now trying to get back involved in RB. The prices and process of getting them is horrible. At any rate I have RB4 coming to me next week with 2 guitars, mic w/mic stand, drums with the game. Looking forward to get back in it again.
Both suck lol, you can't play GHTV anymore, the rock band exports are all gone, there was never beatles exports, the controllers released with rock band sucked ass, the ones released with rivals had issues too, multiplayer was locked behind a paywall until rivals was made free later, no keyboard, the main RB4 feature the freestyle solos is horrible.... Both suck but at least you can still play rock band 4 and it's a fun game if you have guitar hero or rock band instruments released during the Rock Band 2 / Rock Band 3 era otherwise just forget it and either wait for a sequel, wait for a new competitor, wait for hyperkin to release new instruments or just learn a real guitar with Rocksmith 2014 I am especially sad for guitar hero live because it's such a fun concept :( at least you can still use the guitar on clone hero

I played GH at a store... The controller feels relatively cheap compared to my Rock Band Fender Jaguar. It is like the old Les Paul or Explorer. The setlist isn't good. I liked Paint it Black and a few other “oldies“ like Queen or the Who. But I'd say 35 of the 42 on-disc tracks are garbage, like Rihanna,Skrillex,Pierce the Veil,etc. Also I don't like the live action background. It looks silly and the actors are kinda hipster. Old animated characters were much more apealing to rock/metalhead people like me. They gave you a more personalized experience as well. I personally dislike the GHTV system,too. You get songs for free, but first need to buy or play random songs for playthrough tokens. Also if GHTV is shut down,the game will be dead. In Rock Band you can play what you buy. Even after it is down cause you downloaded the songs.
i kind of disagree with the backgrounds, GH is too corny for my taste, i dont play to feel like a rockstar. i think GHWoR had the best backgrounds of all time, just fun to look at, great vid though.

Matchmaking in RB4. Being able to invite your friend and play along in a song Co-Op or against them in GHL. Would be the best games ever

i really dont like the hit notes for RB4. i prefer the gh hit notes.
At the end of the day, it's up to your own personal taste. Personally I prefer the guitar's button layout and the variety Rock Band 4 has. The only reason why I haven't got Guitar Hero Live is for the fact it seems limited in it's song selection:/

I respect your opinion completely but coming from an unbiased approach, I believe Guitar Hero Live is going in the right direction.
+Michael Quintana freestyle games, the developers who made guitar hero live just had half of their staff layed off because the game didn't meet sales expectations. I think harmonix is going in the better direction.
i would love the new GH controller with a old style gh songlist and have on demand play on TV or to get to download them. well, im guessing im sticking to my older games

Late to the party. I tried the demo for GHlive when it came out and found the new controls really interesting. At the time, I did some research on it and I didn't like the Online aspect and in comparison to DLC for Rock Band 4, the micro-transactions irked the hell out of me.
For me the clear winner is RB4. I'm an 'older' gamer and the song lis,t coupled in the fact that you can export close to all the songs of RB 1, 2 and 3, gives you a huge playlist of classic rock and a good list of 80's that I enjoy. I lost all
my peripherals in a flood and now trying to get back involved in RB. The prices and process of getting them is horrible. At any rate I have RB4 coming to me next week with 2 guitars, mic w/mic stand, drums with the game. Looking forward to get back in it again.
Both suck lol, you can't play GHTV anymore, the rock band exports are all gone, there was never beatles exports, the controllers released with rock band sucked ass, the ones released with rivals had issues too, multiplayer was locked behind a paywall until rivals was made free later, no keyboard, the main RB4 feature the freestyle solos is horrible....
Both suck but at least you can still play rock band 4 and it's a fun game if you have guitar hero or rock band instruments released during the Rock Band 2 / Rock Band 3 era otherwise just forget it and either wait for a sequel, wait for a new competitor, wait for hyperkin to release new instruments or just learn a real guitar with Rocksmith 2014
I am especially sad for guitar hero live because it's such a fun concept :( at least you can still use the guitar on clone hero

I'm sorry to say this but the only rock band game I play is the Beatles rock band and I only had it for a couple days and I think it's better than any other music game

I think guitar hero live is better they actually tried something new with there game and there guitar with the three on top and three on bottom buttons and guitar hero tv and rock band 4 is just the same

I love GH and RB. Im going to buy Rock Band 4 very soon. guitar hero is cool and what i played in the GH 1-4 days but now only guitar and mice? Im a huge drummer guy and I can play real acoustics drums so, rockband it is for me.

I played GH at a store... The controller feels relatively cheap compared to my Rock Band Fender Jaguar. It is like the old Les Paul or Explorer. The setlist isn't good. I liked Paint it Black and a few other “oldies“ like Queen or the Who. But I'd say 35 of the 42 on-disc tracks are garbage, like Rihanna,Skrillex,Pierce the Veil,etc.
Also I don't like the live action background. It looks silly and the actors are kinda hipster. Old animated characters were much more apealing to rock/metalhead people like me. They gave you a more personalized experience as well.
I personally dislike the GHTV system,too. You get songs for free, but first need to buy or play random songs for playthrough tokens. Also if GHTV is shut down,the game will be dead.
In Rock Band you can play what you buy. Even after it is down cause you downloaded the songs.

Guitar Hero Live looks and sounds a lot like a mobile game. RB4 looks a lot more like what I like.
I only played Guitar Hero( I've tried Rock Band before and didn't like it) so I will stay with Guitar Hero.
i kind of disagree with the backgrounds, GH is too corny for my taste, i dont play to feel like a rockstar. i think GHWoR had the best backgrounds of all time, just fun to look at, great vid though.

Rb4 is just like rb3 but worse like NO ONE asked for Brutal Mode yet they still add it and everyone is asking for online and practice mode but they have not added any of those features yet. GHL is so much better and with their continuous updates it will grow better and better than rb4

Rock Gamer Oh yeah, totally. I had GH back in the day so I have to buy a guitar either way. RB is just way overpriced. And no MP, is dropping the ball IMO.

Would've been a great game if you had taken the better aspects of both games and made it into one.

Rock band Price to much for me I like GH live price one Walmart store had GH live at 99$ and then I went to anther Walmart and I got GH Live for 79$ and both stores had rock band 4 but it was still 100$ and plus I live alone so GH Live my pick just a guitar and game all I need.

The reason guitar hero live cost two different prices is because the 99$ one comes with 2 guitars and the 79$ one comes with one guitar
