Many gays actually have said they lived for these sketches because they watched when they were in the closet. Even though these sketches brought out some gay stereotypes, they also brought out words and situations that were previously taboo. the same with Sketches with Handy Man. Many disabled appreciated the skits. To be honest, I don't know how I would feel now that I'm handicapped if I saw it for the first time, but I definitely see the good!
