I remember this from growing up. We used to pick up CFTO occasionally over-the-air in Erie, Pennsylvania. Reminds me of being up late during summer vacation and channel surfing with my brother.
We have come to an end another day's programming on Channel 9/Cable 8. CFTO is owned and operated by Baton Broadcasing Inc and is a charted member of the Canadian Television Network, CTV. CFTO now leaves the air to return again this morning.
And here I thought CKCK was the only station that faded out the closing credits of a show early. (Actually they also used to do it with the OPENING credits of some syndie reruns like the Jeffersons, etc.)
there's one thing i've been wanting to know everytime i saw a cfto sign off in either a sign off compilaiton or a seperate video like this one. does anyone know what song is playing as the bgm of the sign off before o canada plays? -Sequoyah p.s greetings from the usa!
I miss these sign-offs now, they don't have them anymore.
I wish they still had this. What a beautiful end to the day it was for me back then...
Song used in the sign off announcement is The Whale by Electric Light Orchestra.
Father Foley's message sure hits home now in the tine of Covid-19.

For anyone that does not know the name of the show following the Barcelona '92 promo, it's Simon & Simon.
What a lovely arrangement of the anthem.
This was the instrumental/choral version commissioned for Canada 125 in 1992, alongside the all-star recording
Agree 100%. This one is actually my absolute favourite. It stirs you up and makes you take notice

Simpler times. Miss them
They had the rights to Lillehammer in 1994, but CBC took them back in 1996. CTV has the rights to Vancouver in 2010 and London in 2012.

It is ELO “The Whale”, a beautiful bit of audio to sign off for the night imho ❤️
@@Retrontario thank you very much! -Sequoyah p.s keep up the good work!
so CTV was canada's "olympic network" back in '92, i noticed...was this the last time they aired the summer games before CBC had the rights again?
They had God Save The Queen until about 1997-98
Queen's arrangement would rule.
At which time, CFTO picked up a third season of ABC's _Jodie Sweetin_
RIP to Her Majesty Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor-Mountbatten
It's official. The Olympics will return to CBC-SRC starting with the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Dave freakin' Devall! Legendary!
+Alex Jirgens the man was the best
An anthem in Toronto with the Blue Jays, but not the Maple Leafs. Telling.
And I hope that CBC and Radio-Canada take the Olympics back starting in 2014!

Do you know if Dave Duvall died?
Cool Sign-off. God Save the QUEEN. How about God save every one of his children!
