O Canada Star Version 1992
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 30 ก.ย. 2024
- In 1992 we asked the music industry to sing the National Anthem, for free - to put a copy in every school in Canada - for free. We did it!
Some said YES and couldn't make the schedule (Geddy Lee of RUSH for example)
Some said no thanks (you'd be surprised)
But 244 stars and entertainers managed to donate their precious talents and time.
This is the result.
From Rita MacNeil, GIno Vanelli, Randy Bachman and Tommy Hunter to country stars, rockers and rappers we did something no country had done before or since.
THANK YOU, from the bottom of our Glowing Hearts
SECOND VERSE IN FRENCH:
Sous l'œil de Dieu, près du fleuve géant,
Le Canadien grandit en espérant.
Il est né d'une race fière,
Béni fut son berceau.
Le ciel a marqué sa carrière
Dans ce monde nouveau.
Toujours guidé par sa lumière,
Il gardera l'honneur de son drapeau,
Il gardera l'honneur de son drapeau.
I love my country, One of the greatest nations on this planet. Canada
THE greatest nation.
T L me too
The greatest nation? You say that because of your national identity.
It was before 2015 when the little communist took over
Leave it to a Canadian to be modest.
Beautifully put up together..still after 28 years gives me goose bumps!!
O Canada is the national anthem of Canada. The song was originally commissioned by Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Théodore Robitaille for the 1880 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony; Calixa Lavallée composed the music, after which, words were written by the poet and judge Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The original lyrics were in French; an English translation was published in 1906. O Canada is a poem, even an epic poem. To really understand O Canada, you must listen the French version. The lyrics in French, are :
Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
And an English translation of this poem is :
O Canada!
Land of our ancestors
Glorious deeds circle your brow
For your arm knows how to wield the sword
Your arm knows how to carry the cross;
Your history is an epic
Of brilliant deeds
And your valour steeped in faith
Will protect our homes and our rights,
Will protect our homes and our rights.
Now, you may understand what we sing in French; it is a beautiful poem in memory of the French people who come to Quebec from 1608 up to these days. It is now the land of our ancestors. My family arrived in Quebec in 1637. So, Canada is really the land of my ancestors for the last 10 generations.
Thank you for this Helene!! I’m 67 and this is the first time I have read the history of O Canada! Merci and Happy Canada Day!
I heard the French version has never changed their lyrics unlike the English version changed their lyrics recently to instead of “in all thy son’s command” to “in all of us command” to be more gender neutral. The English and French versions are different versions of the song.
I loved watching this just now. Thank you! So many familiar faces.

Hello, how are you doing?
I had the chance to be part of the recordons (one of Those people in the French group). I must say that the whole experience was awesome. Could truly feel a sense of solidarity and unity when we recorded this and I believe the producer did an awesome job.

My favorite version of Our Nation Anthem!!!!!!
This version started playing at my elementary school back when I was in grade 7, and I even heard it during the morning announcements all throughout my high school years too. Great memories
This is back in the days when we had a national anthem!
HOly Shit look at those peace sign earrings! Love that Rita opened the anthem and great to see Matt Minglewood was invited.. Wonderful rendition, absolutely terrific. so proud to be Canadian! Merci
Proud to be an Australian lover of Canada!
Greatest version I've ever heard!!!
Cant, we have this for the school anthem. This is the best! I love Canada! The greatest nation!
They used to play this one over the PA when I was in elementary school.
First time, tenth time, hundrenth time, it is just as special... I wonder if the new AI technology we keep talking about could refresh this print a bit... Oh Canada, longue vie! §:c)
This is the best version of the National Anthem!
Perú Saluda a Canadá en su día nacional
Peru Salute to Canada on his national's day
Hasta se parecen las banderas 🇨🇦🇵🇪
Damn! The version of all versions. Lol
C'est qui l'homme qui chante à partir du 2:33 ?
Wow, when I was a kid they used to play this when the local station was going off the air and when it was coming back on in the morning. They have since replaced the opening and closing with something else. Now that I'm seeing this today, I recognize many more faces than I did back then, since I have learned who many of these people are. It was quite amazing and nostalgic finding this again, especially after just recently returning from a trip back to my hometown.
The most Canadian "O Canada" ever recorded. Remember when Canada was this awesome?
It still is.
I never knew there was a second verse to our national anthem

Hello 👋
How are you doing?
GO RAPTORS!!!! This is a First Canadian NBA History....!!!!! 😊😊😄😄😄😄
This is the version of The Wonderful World of CBC Special Edition - Jordon's Animal Kingdom The First Adventure with the national anthem of Canada for Jordon's Animal Kingdom Theme Park & Lodge & Cartoon Network Amazone Water Park & Animal Planet Zoo & Resort Area.
If you could do a more modern version I would include Jann Arden, kd Lang, Sarah mcglochlan, Celine dion and Anne Murray
Love and responsibility are some of the reasons each one of us must work hard and FUCK HARD in order to increase our populations because the World needs good humans. You miss most of the shots to don't take....and Wayne G. was right. We have to love ourselves in order to love others. Thank God I'm a Canadian.
Happy Canada Day 2020🎂🎉🎈
May all Canadians be able to give support to each and everyone, especially the frontline workers and lifesavers, during the Coronavirus pandemic. Our economy is recovering because of the efforts of the Canadian federal government. I hope and pray that the Coronavirus pandemic will fully end soon and that everything in Canada will return to normal as soon as possible. To our homeland Canada, we will always stand on guard for thee.
Tres beau, very nice :)
It's exactly passed 30 years, and do you all believe, that Canada itself has really become better, comparing with these good old days? I'm a South Korean, and sbout 20 years ago, I went for a bachelors degree in Vancouver.
I lived there for 4 and a half years, and it's also true that I peacefully lived there, although I sometimes have a nightmare even now, that I'm put on academic probation again, at a community college in North something.
In anyhow, I truly wanted to get a permanent residence, as I never hated this country, but I must have gone to Beijing to learn Mandarin for my specialisation, and gone back to my country for my certain bread.
I still think, that it's totally impossible for me to live in Vancouver again, but at the moment lately, I'm listening to this song very often, and I still cook perogies and cabbage rolls every winter, as there's no Superstore on my doorstep.
From the days when nationalism wasn’t evil….geez, they seemed happy
Beautiful anthem. Right up with there with the Russian anthem.
A great country with positive support loving sweet people!
Very very good. I wish that Ginette Reno was in this video as well.
@ 01:45 isnt that the late Pat Burns .......I think it is if anyone knows LMK........Thanks
I love Canada
This is so great. Proud of you, Canada
The only two Canadian Celebrities I recogninzed were Rita McNeil, and Susan Aglukark... possibly Maestro Fresh Wes if that is him...
The rap line was indeed done by Maestro Fresh Wes
Incredibly meaningful then - and now, 28 years later.
This is spectacular!
Another great version of the Canadian national anthem ever. O Canada makes me and you proud to be Canadians, especially to the new immigrants who make Canada their new home.
It is time to record another epic Anthem. I would like to produce.
Music to my ears!!
Merci on chante!
Pat Burns!!!!
I thought that was him. Amazing!
4:13 Alannah Myles!

Happy Canada Day 2015!

Did I see Pat Burns in there?
I don't know any of these 'stars.'
Anyone wanna help with this?
Corey Manuel im a 34 year old french Canadian and I dont know a single person in this video.
@@trez337 I'm American and clearly recognize Michael Burgess who sadly died prematurely not too many years ago. One of the best Jean Valjeans from the musical Les Miserables. (Presumably that's why many of the younger singers in the Anglophone choir here are wearing Les Mis shirts.) Burgess was a phenomenal tenor, he really knew how to sing and had a great technique. He's the blonde gentleman with his hands on the children's shoulders at 04:52.
Oh Canada Halifax!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Happy Canada Day July 1st, 2012
Oh Canada, I know Covid-19 impacted our social fabric but our leader, Justin Trudeau has stood firm in the face of the monster. Oh Canada, we are not just crawling, WE ARE WALKING...thanks to greater leadership. I'm a lost boy of Sudan and being lost was the best that happen to me. Why? Because I'm at home.
Oh Canada, Happy New Year 2021. Oh Canada, without you and your kindness, who knows were our World would be heading, eh? The Canadian kindness is like a salt in a good meal that is the World. Yes, think of the World as a big giant planet of salad, chicken wings, pizza or whatever food you love and just sprinkle Canada on it. Haah, oh Canada, you make my heart throbes and my mind tingly with ideas.
-Dear Canadians, please stay safe from Covid-19. Not is a good time to hate those around you, except your immediate love ones but please, stay away. I got great friends in Ontario and Alberta and hope 2021 shall bring joy. Dr. Adina McBaine, thank you my friend. I was never into chemistry but you kept tutoring me(that was around 2003-2004) at Mount Allison University. You gave me those socks your mom made for me, ahahah, oh Canada, your kindness never cease to amaze. May the 2021 bring joy to Canadians and please, keep working hard because laziness is next nothing. Why are some healthy Canadians ripping off the government through welfare? A good welfare is for those who are unable to work. I was just wondering...and just so you know Paul Martin was one of my favourite PM.
This is beautiful!!
Hello, how are you doing?
Strong, powerful and kind, that is Canada I immigrated to. I love you Moncton, New Brunswick but I will never forget Sackville, NB for their kindness, especially Mount Allison University. Good humans sometimes come in a lifetime but good memories are worth keeping.....and promoting...for the goodness of Human Race, eh.
Be you, be kind and never forget to be a good Canadian?
Would be so awesome to know everyone in this video. Lots of familiar faces (to me) and lots of vaguely familiar faces. Who is in this?
Gino Vannelli!
Wowww so amazing to watch this in 2022, when the world had seemed to have lost its flavor and sense in 2020 but two years after, finally the people start to wake up to truth more and more crushing the lies, becoming alive again to the truth of simple values, they stand strong in Unity hand in hand, reunited like never before!! And they start to create a much better future 🤩
now this takes me back.
Rap is actually really awesome when performers don't say crass things about women and violence. The rap in this instance was really good!
Excuse me, this is a military march, not a sappy, sentimental ballad. GAK !
I remember this when it was released I think it was done for our 125th birthday
NO IDEA who most of them are . They sure as hell butchered it ........
Who is everyone in this video...in chronlogical order?
I love early 90's ambiance
Yeahh we're in 2020,and still listening to it ❤🎧🎶
1992 this is now 30 years old.
It is February 2022, and we just witnessed police attack peaceful protesters in Ottawa. I NEEDED to listen to this song and this version right at this moment. If only to remember the Canada of old.
This was part of Canada 125 back then!
Bringing back school memories....
Come on Canada against Belgium!!
Is that Celine Dion on 4:14?
I think that's Alannah Myles to be honest.

Did I catch Leafs coach Pat Burns at 1:47?
Hey Jordan, yes and he had a hand shake like a vice!
They played this version once when it came out at my high school.. the building erupted in laughter from end to end. They never played it again. LOL 😅
