- Tom Chambers is one of the greatest scorers in NBA History, having scored over 20 thousand points in his career. But among players who are eligible for hall of fame consideration, Chambers is the highest scoring player that has not been inducted.

Yes, I am aware his name is cotton fitzsimmons. My notes autocorrected it to Connie and I didn’t catch it in the moment. I’m sorry.
😂😂😂💀💀💀
Thanks for giving props to TC. He deserves to be in HOF, but since he didn't win much, he would have to take back seat to many of the historic players who DID win.
Chambers started the ‘87 All-Star Game as a replacement for the injured Ralph Sampson and won the All-Star MVP in front of his home crowd in Seattle.
One of my favorite players at that time unbelievably underrated and 100% deserves to be in the HOF
My Father coached Chambers in high school. He was only 6’2 until a growth spurt between his So. And Jr. Years and played the point guard position. That’s why his handle was so good as a big man. Definately a HOF player.
How is Tom Chambers not in the Hall of Fame? That man was a beast.
As a child of 80's NBA basketball, Tom was always appreciated by me. His soaring dunk over Mark Jackson is my favorite of all-time.
Jackson is still on the floor to this day, no one has helped him up, LoL 🤣
Absolutely deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame
After all, our hero is 53rd on the all time scoring list!!
KJ and Chambers were a great duo
The OG CP3 and Blake.
@@cyrillesu However, I prefer Mark Price and Brad Daugherty better than than KJ and Chambers out of the poor man's duos in the late 80's and early 90's.
They beat the 63 win lakers in 1990 forgotten upset yes they didnt have kareem but they were a great team that still had cooper and riley coaching them also magic and worthy, ac green and vlade
@@lilpenny1982 fair point
@@tj5180 I think the 1990 Lakers Team ran out gas, when you been making it the finals pretty much every year it takes a toll on you, then they ran into a Suns team that like to run, Play fast pace, bad combination.
Tom Chambers was a great player and in the 1987 All-Star Game he made all the other stars look old. It's a shame he is not inducted into the Hall of Fame.
He'd be dunking over LeBron and knocking his ass to the parquet!
I was a Sonics fan and grew up watching Tom Chambers electrify the crowd with his playmaking and iconic slam dunks. He set himself apart from other "big men" with how he could play any position. Tom definitely deserves to be in the hall of fame. Thanks for making this video!
I think his lack of showing any personality on the court is why he is so slept on. He never really showed any expression or drew any attention to himself.
I was at the game in Seattle when Tom Chambers won the MVP. Magic kept finding Chambers on the fast break. Chambers was a great running power forward. If he was on the Lakers he would have been considered an all time great.
He would be crushing todays NBA.
Absolutely. Tom's game was Taylor made for today's style of game and rules. Chambers could shoot deep, finish hard at the rim, run the floor and handle the basketball on the dribble and pull up to shoot on any spot or angle.
As good as Chambers was, he got caught in the wrong era. Also Tom was an influential player in changing the style the league would later adopt.
Wow. I did not realize Chambers was not in the HOF. This is an embarrassment to the NBA.
4 all star games and 2 all nba selections makes him not being in the HOF an embarrassement?
@@EricCKeys It makes the NBA look retarded for not putting him in already. That is what they meant.
@willn8664 I guess that in comparison to some of the players that shouldn't be in that he deserves to be in but he is not an hofer imo
The NBA is not in charge of the Basketball Hall of Fame so it's hardly their fault at all
@@IAWIA5 A point that a lot of people miss; there are players in the HAF that have never played in the NBA.
He was a monster. The fact that he's overshadowed by some of his contemporaries just shows how competitive and top-heavy with talent the league has always been.
He would be a top 15 player today at his peak, easily
NNNNNAAAAAWWWW, HE WASN'T OVERSHADOWED,.. IT JUST SEEM LIKE IT, BUT,.. I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THAT HE WAS IN THE HALL OF FAME,.. ALL THESE YEARS,.. WHICH HE REALLY SHOULD BE,.. & HE'S NNNOOOOTTT IN THE TOP 75, EITHER!!!
& THIS IS DEFINITELY AN EMBARRASSMENT TO NBA'S HISTORY,.. ESPECIALLY, FOR THE GREAT THAT HE WAS!!!
& I'M ANGRY ABOUT IT!!!
BECAUSE, I WAS THERE,.. SEEING HIS WHOLE ENTIRE CAREER!!!
@@angiewilliams8472 It's been too long now, if you're not MJ, Magic Johnson, jabbar, Bird, etc., chances are your name won't get in the conversation, people have short memories. And the young people today are totally ignorant of them.
True let the man in
No it doesn’t… it shows that he has been left out for some reason while people with lesser careers have got through - was he a drug user? Did he sleep with NBA owners’ wives like Udoka? I mean what did he do?
He is a real good all around player and deserves to be in the hall of fame..😅
Five times over
He should get some points just for the mullett.
I was fortunate enough to watch chambers his whole career. He was 6' 10/11 and played like he was 6'4. Best athlete in the league at his size. In my opinion only Larry Bird was a better forward during their time. He also could out jump all the centers in the league.
Underrated player and should be in the hall.
Damn. I knew Chambers was a beast and it's a crime that he isn't in the HoF. But that footage of him fading away from the basket and throwing in a 25 foot hook shot was sick. I've been watching NBA ball for 3 decades. I've never seen ANYONE do that.
Tom Chambers should be in the HOF. I remember watching him play, he was good!
He should be a Hall of Famer.
Our hero is 53rd on the all time points list. 🥳🥳🥳
Chambers generally played small forward in Phoenix alongside Kurt Rambis who was the power forward.
Nah, Rambis was a 14 minute a game back up. Chambers almost always played the 4 in pho
@@abrahamwiebeyup true! Night of only played small forward one season if that?
the dude could fly! Those reverse slams are a thing of beauty....
And he could pull off those dunks in traffic.
One of the most underrated players of all time.
One of the most Underrated players in NBA history
Yes he is. I saw him play many times. Thanks for the video, very comprehensive and informative.
Tom Chambers - the Flash Gordon of the NBA!
pure gold
National Treasure!
Tom was a Beast!
Thanks for the props for my cousin Tom Chambers! He was great.
Imagine how he would be performing in today’s defense-free NBA.
He would be like the Greek Freak they have the same game but Chambers has better post game and shooting skills.
I was thinking this very thing when I saw Chambers was 1 of 4 players to score 60 points in the 1990's
I miss basketball.
probably like Laurie Markkaden Utah
He'd still be scoring
Tom Chambers!! Dude was nice, could shoot easily the best white dunker, great player. And had that lean in dunk on NBA Live
Would have been fun to see the Suns play small ball with him and Barkley. I wonder if they utilized that lineup much.
He was a pure scorer. You could always count on Chambers getting 20 or more. Always enjoyed watching him play. Picked up the tempo of the game whenever he was in. Not much on the defensive side. Guess he figured he'd outscore whoever was guarding him.
Thank You for producing and sharing this video. Tom Chambers was one of Best!! Been watching NBA and ABA since I was a kid. Am 67 now. Seen them ALL🤙
That dunk alone should get him in the Hall of Fame
We had a bent down rim on our schoolyard hoop that we used to say Tom Chambers dunked on .... hometown hero.
I love Tommy Chambers, put this man in the Hall!!
Thanks for the good video on an underrated player who deserves more respect.
I always wondered who did that ridiculous soaring dunk! Now I know, and very interesting to know about his career history!
It's like he doesn't even jump, he just sort of levitates
I remember Tom Chambers, he is just like Larry Bird. He could jump, he could shoot but was not in a good team.
I remember that jump when he posterize somebody as it his feet is above somebody's head.
He deserved to be in the Hall of Fame.
Also- best video game dunk- his unstoppable double pump from the 3 pt line in EA's Lakers vs. Celtics game from back in the day on Sega Genesis.
Watched two of your videos and this is some quality content.
I saw that dunk go on Mark Jackson.... ... Tom Chamber was great.... Chambers was a horse running at you not stopping..
Great video! I love this era
You brought me back to OG Dunking! He had style & hops
This was a well executed summary. Yes he deserves the call. That dunk on bird at the garden seals it for me
Our hero is 53rd on the all time points list. 🥳🥳🥳
That dunk was on four Celtics including Bird. It is an amazing dunk.
@@furfamilysue Was it worth more than two points? Maybe 10 or 12??
He also has the greatest video game dunk of all time. Double pump from the 3 point line. 🤘
His game was really nice!! He deserves the Hall of Fame
Great highlights!
Like a lot of commenters here who saw his whole career like I did I can absolutely say he is a hall of famer. Tom played in the “Golden Era” of the NBA which was the eighties and nineties and there were so many great players at that time that I believe he got overshadowed when it came to recognizing how truly good he was. Hall of Fame need to correct this glaring mistake.
How?
@@alanoranday4448 Tom Chambers was a first time nominee last year 2022 to get into the hall. He didn’t make it which means he can be nominated again and again with a screening committee, approving the nomination. Trust me he will get in.
Bro great video, never seen much on Tom before
Surprised he's not in the HOF. Should be. He was always near the top every season, in his prime years.
Chambers! 🏆
He's definitely up there with those that should be highly considered.. His only knock would be defense I think
Was never a number one or two guy on a contending team.
@@jasonwolfe3252neither was tmac
@@Buttington_HeadersonYou serious about TMAC?
@@jasonwolfe3252 That depends on your definition of "contending team." You mean a playoff team?
Thanks for bringing up these players. More subs coming!
Don’t forget his slam dunk championship run. He definitely competed
YES!! Get him in there! That's criminal that he's not in the Hall of Fame yet! He definitely deserves to be in there!
Fantastic choice of topic, earned a sub.
He needs to be on we all loved his game
me and my friends used to record sports center on vhs tape and we would pause that dunk he did over jackson and be like WTF haha, his eyes were level with the rim. He definitely deserves to be in the hall of fame....
I’ll never forget Thee Iconic
NBA Live 95 commercial
When it has the Chambers clip
right in the middle
It’s of Him coming down on a fast break & Flying from free throw line and FLYS COMPLETELY OVER
another player (a PG) with The 2 HAND JAM❕ 💥 YAMMA❕
E A SPORTS ….
If It’s in The Game …
It’s in The Game 💪
I think it was Mark Jackson he yacked on but it looked AMAZING
Especially in the 90’s
He FLEW So White Boy style though ( oxymoron , I know 😄)
Legs bent back hella funny and with 2 hands He flys in and YAMMERS on em PiYOW❕
Commercial was So Dope
& That’s how I found out about
Tom Chambers
A 15yo who Loved some NBA
But didn’t really know about Tommy yet
He’s most definitely
MAJORLY UNDERRATED
Tom Chambers could ball
& He could FLY
awesome highlights 😎😎
The points are nice, but he did that mostly in the first half of his career and he played during the era of the best forwards the league has seen, so it overshadowed him somewhat…however in his prime Chambers was definitely all star level
pure gold. Very reasonable YT comment.
Which players like Calvin Murphy and Bernard king being in yes he should
Bernard should've been in long ago.
I remember watching him.. he was a scoring machine. One of those kind of players if you were a fan of the opposing team he would get under your skin and you couldn't stand him.. absolutely HOF
Yeah, if your team is playing them, you are always afraid of him.
Enjoyed watching Chambers play in the heyday of the league! We ABSOLUTELY should be in the Hall!
Absolutely!! He belongs there!! As a result ofhis BOSTON CELTICS STYLE OF PLAY, of GOING HARD AND PLAYING AND SHOOTING FROM ANY POSITION, HE ABSOLUTELY DOES!!!! IF he were on the Boston Celtics he'd have been in there!!! Earl of El Barrio. NYC,NY. 11:27AM. 9/10/23
I remember playing NBA 1990 game. He was unstoppable in the game and once he got the ball, he would do a monstrous dunk or make 100% of his shots. Everyone wanted to choose him in the game.
Yep man, Lakers versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs. Some best players with signature moves like MJ, Bird, Magic, Clyde the Glyde, sir Charles... and Tom with unstoppable 2-handed diagonal dunk!
Yes this man belongs in the hall his points alone is incredible
3:31 a casual no look 3 pt skyhook.. how had I scarcely heard of this man before?
I grew up in Seattle in the 80s and 90s and was a huge fan of both the Sonics and the Suns. I had a Tom Chambers poster on my bedroom wall, next to Kevin Johnson, Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle. I think he definitely deverves a spot in the Hall of Fame. His biggest detraction, is also his greatest strength. He played in arguably the greatest era of the NBA. He was overshadowed by the Pistons, Celtics, Lakers and the emerging Chicago Bulls, led by a young Michael Jordan. There are tons of guys from that era in the Hall of Fame, who played on those championship teams.... So, a lot of people ask how he measured up against those giants. Well, his numbers were still phenomenal, even in a very tough era of basketball. He just doesn't have the name caché of Thomas and Dumars, Bird, McHale and Parrish, Magic, Kareem and James Worthy, or Barkley, Olajuwon, Drexler, Ewing, Wilkins, Robinson or Pippen... basically the early Dream Team era. That's his only flaw.
Sonics fan...thanks for reminding me about Tom.
I didn't know he wasn't in the HOF he should be Chambers is an Iconic player. Freaky Leaper and sneaky scorer had no Fear.
I was a big fan of Chambers during his playing days. I would love to see him get into the HOF.
Tom Chambers highlights with Castlevania theme song!!!!! 😂😆🤣😭 I love it!!! ✊🏾 🦇
3:31 You, my friend, are shootin for the Sudan.
He needs to be in the hall of fame he's the modern pf dunker who could do it all on the court
Tom Chambers should definitely be in the Basketball Hall of Fame! It's a shame he is not right now!
Well before they put Tom Chambers in they need to put Mark Acguire in first.
Walter Davis.
I'd put him in the hall in a heartbeat. But I Live in Seattle. Even so, he was very special.
Tom Chambers is a bad man best Believe. Being a Arizona Native he is still underrated here too.
He was a monster in the original NBA jams arcade video game.
20k points, 6k rebounds, an All-Star MVP and some of the best in-game dunks of his era.
unfortunately his lack of playoff success will probably keep him out of the Hall.
That's not a factor in the basketball hall of fame look at mcgrady and yao they never had playoff success
I disagree. He was a great player no matter what overall success his team had in the playoffs. I remember watching him as a kid, he was definitely a great player and he deserves to be in the HoF!
Tom definitely deserves his 💐
Lack of playoff success? He was in the conference finals multiple times. And in the west that was huge. The road to the finals was always thru Lakers magic and Kareem. Chambers was the team’s go to guy and leading scorer. Lakers had a monopoly in the west. And then Chambers broke thru and went to the NBA Finals with Barkley once.
Should definitely be in the HOF!
never heard of this guy somehow good video
He was fun to watch. Not an all-round player like Larry Bird or a great defender like Bobby Jones. He wasn't winning titles like LeBron James. He wasn't charismatic like Charles Barkley.
But he could score. From inside and out. He was a ferocious dunker, but could also shoot threes (rare for tall players then). He was real athletic and could run and jump. What hops he had, and he was sensational at his best.
I've long wondered, what if Larry Bird had Chambers' ability in addition to his actual skills, smarts, and competitiveness? He might have become the greatest forward of all time, with absolutely no question. But what we had was two great players.
Yes, Tom Chambers should be in the Hall of Fame.
Our hero is 53rd on the all time points list. 🥳🥳🥳
A beast on Sega Genesis NBA games
Very good broadcaster too!
Agreed. Should be in the Hall of Fame.
Tom Chambers was that dude. I did not know that we was not a HOF. He should be in.
Hell yeah that boy was cold 🥶
i'm 51 So i remember this Dude & i'm Very Surprised He's not in. He's right there with the Kevin McHales!!
I personally think the NBA needs it's own HOF, and not just have a basketball HOF. I also feel it is far too easy to get it. Like Barkley said, "it's the HOF, not the hall of the really good". I don't think Chambers makes the cut personally, but if you are going to have guys like Chris Bosh, Mitch Richmond, and Toni Kukoc in, then Tom definitely deserves to be in. He was much better in the NBA than Toni was
His face the basket shooting ability from any distance helped define a style of Power Forward that is now the norm in the NBA.
True facts he should had been in way before them
This guy was amazing
Happy Birthday!
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has a reasonably low bar for who/what gets in and an unfair bias toward offence over defence.
Based on their own examples, Chambers should make it in eventually.
As far as him being one of, if not the best scorers to [currently] not be in the Hall, I think there is a lot more than career points per game to be considered.
The Mark Jackson dunk gives ew meaning to “above the rim” ! Phenomenal !
Pride of Boulder Fairview High School. I once lived right near Fairview and visited his trophies. Too bad he never played for the Nuggets.
Yes! he deserve to HALL of Fame 😁
He was the only 20,000 point scorer, for many years, that wasn't in the Hall. Now there are a few others (Antwan Jamison, Joe Johnson, Lamarcus Aldridge, Vince Carter) that may test the validity of that milestone and give Chambers another look at the Hall.
HOF? YES! I lived in Phoenix in the 80s ans went to several Suns games each year. Id say 80% of the time, he was the mostvexciting player on the floor. I was lucky enough to cee Bird and Jordan play That was most of the 20%.
