Huge fan of Cummings growing up. One thing-because Don Nelson played 'small ball', Terry had to play center alot and that actually hurt his numbers quite a bit because he'd be matched up on McHale, Parrish, Caldwell Jones and Moses Malone during his time with the Bucks.

Excellent, great historical video!!! Please make more? I'm 73 y/o I've seen many of the players you mentioned play. There are many many more forgotten players. Fans may not understand that the skills and styles of play today were developed by past player. Please keep up the good work. Bob Love was one of my favorites, Kelly Tripuka was another one, looked like a disco dancer hairdresser but man he was something on the court. There are so many more! Thank you again.

Yeah but the skills today are just because the rules have laxed. It took much more skill back then with the stricter rule. I also laugh when people say x player can’t play in the game today, when Jokic and Luka are two of the top players today.

Phenomenal list. Cummings was a big time scorer. Those Don Nelson teams had a couple other guys in Moncrief & Marques Johnson that don't get enough love. The OGs used to tell me as a kid how Bob Love was the man...mad respect from everyone who watched him. Plenty of overlooked guys. Buck Williams Tom Chambers Andrew Toney & so many others. Maurice Stokes is interesting to me as his shooting was horrific but his defence was incredible and playmaking for a Center was incredible. Any mention of Stokes should mention Jack Twyman, who became his legal guardian after the fall basically caused a traumatic brain injury, which led to the permanent paralysis and caused him to require constant care for the rest of his life. Twyman could have taken a spot on this 10-man team, having averaged 19.2 ppg and 8.7 rpg in 11 seasons with the Royals. He has the distinction of being one of the first two players to average 30 ppg in a season, 31.2 in 1960. The other was some guy named "Chamberlain." Twyman is a big part of my past, being the broadcasting partner of Chris Schenkel for the ABC Game of the Week from 1967-71, part of the early years of my introduction to the NBA. This was the only way to watch pro basketball for most of America. While the league grew from 10 to 17 teams over that time, the only games the whole country could see were on that Sunday show, except some weeknight games during the finals. Twyman was noted for his support of Stokes by having the NBA Teammate of the Year Award named after him and his afflicted friend: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twyman%E2%80%93Stokes_Teammate_of_the_Year_Award

Here are a few more who deserve an honorable mention: Bobby Dandridge, Bill Bradley, Dave Debusschere, Bobby Jones, Andrew Toney, Gus Williams, and Bob Love.

I'm just curious how Dan Issel has only one NBA all-star team selection. Weird. Another would be Brian Winters. A bit like Jim Paxson. Marques Johnson another, 5-timer a lot of folks don't remember. Buck Williams another.

2:55 Larry Kenon to me will always be the player that Bill Walton scored 21 out of 22 on, in the NCAA finals that was shown on network TV for the first time in 1973.

These are cool. More credit needs given to these guys. Without them there’s no league today.

Phil Ford and Otis Birdsong were dynamic together. Also from where im at, Kelly & Isiah were 7/11. Detroit beat Nuggets 186 to 184

Enjoyed this video, and you mentioned some of my favorite players of yesteryear. I was wondering whether players such as Gus Williams (Sonics) or Brian Winter (Bucks) might be worthy of mention in another video? BTW, Phil Smith, who was super talented, really had bad luck in life; in 2002, at age 50, he died of multiple myeloma (a type of bone cancer).

Bernard King never makes these lists. No one can tell me that King shouldn’t be on the NBA 75 list.
