- At the Google I/O 2024 keynote, Googlers showed us a lot of demos of new AI features coming this year including Project Astra. But how real were these demos? We traveled around the Google I/O grounds trying them out for ourselves and are here to tell you about what we discovered!

Hey, was there still no mention or hint of Google Home/Nest Devices? You know, those millions of speakers we bought specifically to interact with via speech...
No.😄
No they are dead now.
Just use your phone. Home devices were meant to be underpowered and not updated based software.
It would be amazing to chat to Nest and speakers, but also it would keep users from buying latest gen phones.
Maybe this or next year we will see first AI powered / focused phones.
@@GJoseeph I have an "AI equipped phone" but also a smart speaker in every room that gets dumber year by year. Two months ago I asked it to set alarm for 8 AM and it replied in Spanish for no reason that it has set alarm for 2 o'clock in the morning! I don't need to have complex multimodal conversations with it, I just need it to make my life simpler and stream podcast reliably across the whole flat or be able to both add and remove items from my shopping list. And, as it still runs on servers, would it really be that difficult to answer most of the questions in a more intelligent way than "Sorry, I dont understand"? Is that too much to ask? Because many of us invested hundreds if not thousands of dollars into this promise of smart home devices and are feeling let down by Google (yet again).
Big thanks for the awesome sound quality, keeping it clear and steady with those background noises-great job!
You bet!
I'm actually disappointed with the new software trends. Thing is that lots of these AI features are cloud based. So they are not actually depended on a hardware. But lots of the stuff will definitely be limited to the latest and greatest hardware, despite being absolutely agnostic to it. On the other hand when this latest and greatest hardware is usually being announced we hear plenty of words about how powerful the new hardware is, what incredible new features this hardware enables to be processed locally and then next year, suddenly this actual locally running features started to be ported to the previous generation. What this all means that honestly there are almost no real true exclusive features executing hardware capabilities. All the exclusivity of features for the new devices is only marketing strategy to force you to upgrade. Companies not only move lots of stuff to the cloud and forcing you to buy new hardware and additionally pay subscription, they also delaying local features releases to the older devices, directly lying about hardware requirements. What I thing is fair: 1) Cloud features enabled for any device which receives OS version with this features bundled. 2) Subscription might be requested to access these cloud services, but it should be clear what comes with what. 3) If it is said that some new devices has some exclusive hardware which enables it to do a specific thing like no other device can, it should be true. Meaning, this exclusive hardware limited feature absolutely can't be ported to previous device or should be significantly of worse quality in case of porting or enabling in the previous device. I am specifically pointing this out because often some "AI related hardware BS is advertised and used as an explanation why one or another feature can't be enabled on the older device, but then suddenly this feature is getting enabled after year or so or on completely different device which also lacks this super-duper-ai-enabling hardware BS".
Well, that's how they sell you the subscription!
Samsung's anti-glare screen would have been handy during that ask PDF segment
I’m thinking it should be on the P9, right?
@@arvind8302 would you buy it if price tag would be like $1100?
If it were the rumoured P9 pros, I guess it would be that much. Yes. I would.
and language translation will takes another 100 years to perfect it
Samsung and Google system fuchsia os 📈 👌 ✨️ 💖 ❤️ 🎉🎉😮

Perhaps more updates... It's there first Time... 😊
At least project astra corrected itself. It still shouldn't have had to do that.

I don't know man. On that Gemini pdf thing. You can do that for casual reading. But when rigour is to be tested, I'd rather read the pdf myself.
The problem with my Friends in AI is we all build softwares...but its rare to make a profit from it ...most produced tech so far cant match what people will "use" in their daily lives indulging it everywhere just shows there is limitations....but even if other devlopers offer solutions they end up screaming slogans and creating uneesed social drama
It wasn't successful the 1st time, it just heard your conversation. They are always hearing....
Samsung and Google system android 📉 😅😅😂
What the f is that annoying 2:13 noise. Please stop using it my head hurts.
AI is so annoying. Untrustworthy in its accuracy. It seems to make up any old crap.
Wait a bit 2 more years it will replace people
