Ford Focus bonnet lock assembly

Great video.
I had to help a friend sort their lock out 18 months ago.
Took two days of frustration and swearing to get the bonnet open without damaging and exterior trim or body work.
I like your neat solution to transfer the barrel over.
My neighbour has just asked for help with his now.
The lock is relatively straight forward. Your video is simple, easy to follow and methodical. Will be using the barrel transfer tip.

Changed the white plastic piece but after 6 months that failed. Today I ditched the whole stupidly over designed Bowden assembly and found a long flat head screwdriver to keep in the boot, works perfectly !!

Well done! Just back from a TrustFord main dealer who wanted £350 to repair same. This included smashing & replacing the front grill (!) I thought Ford mechanics would have known how to fix properly, obviously, I was wrong! (Have ordered parts myself from Ebay)

£350 thats a lot .. Its a ripoff. You should be fine to do it on your own.

Out of interest did you get a genuine ford part or just the cheapest one off ebay?

Foot long screwdriver works like magic lol

You have to twist the spring on the plastic. The plastic piece is aligned with the metal inside, once pushed it snatched on the metal.

Good video but I couldn't drill out the pins like you did. Did you edit some of that part out? as it looks like you have cut a strip out of the barrel using an angle grinder

I used the drill and then with the help of a fine nail and hammer got the pin out. hope it helps.

Wondering what kind of screwdriver you used as I have same problem, philips or flat? Assume it needs to be really long as well?

Whenever you’re inserting the screwdriver is there a catch or something you need to push back for it to unlock, I’ve got a 09 focus zetec and I’m having this problem

I have the reverse to your problem, My bonnet Catch had broken but my lock is perfectly fine, Is there anyway of removing the lock from the broken catch and keeping the lock actualy in tact? i just have a feeling that once i pull on the lock its going to snap away from the Catch and leave the little plastic bit inside ahah.

Sorry for the late reply. I assume your situation has been sorted already , If not , can you open the bonnet?If so then go to 5:26 on my video remove the assembly and get the whole lock out. Including the plastic bit. I have very limited knowledge on this but hope this helps!
