You are such a sweetheart Mick for lending a hand like you do, you're always willing to go that extra mile to help others in their time of need. I'm sure your sis-in-law greatly appreciates what you've done for her. 👍🙂 Even in my time of illness you went above and beyond to ensure everyone knew I wasn't feeling well. 🤣😡🤣 Nice job Tim, Rob and Tim 👍
Mine just gone im sure the heat had something to do with it hopefully when we get back to normal weather it contracts and works again but what a palava to sort it out well done i haven't got patience for stuff like that. What where Ford thinking designing this torture contraption madness nothing wrong with the old normal lever system crazy probably cost a lot more to design as well
many thanks for the guide. top tip, if you press down on bonnet before turning key left, it reduces wear on the X shaped white key that goes into the lock mechanism and hopefully it'll last a bit longer before failing again. cheers
Just done mine and it was pretty easy thx to your guide..my lock was sticking so I had to destroy and replace it for nothing. I would undo the 2 10mm bolts holding the lock from underneath next time😢 we live and learn..😅
Great job. Here in America, we have a hood release lever next to the kick panel under the dash that you pull to open the bonnet. I've never seen a blue oval pivot and contain a lock. Probably more secure than on this side of the pond. Back in the day, our car makers put a pivoting emblem over the trunk (rear bonnet?) lock. No electric release. A real pain on an icy Michigan morning...
@@themowerman I was told when I was very young help someone on your way through life and your living will not be in vain I am 74 now and still doing it the feel good factor is like a medicine ..
Good job Mick, I've done 4 of these for friends & family on various Ford models .You can get a replacement white plastic plus bit that fails & keep the original key but a new lock & barrel is note a bad shout for what it costs.
If you don't care about the grill or have a spare from scrap yard.. I just grabbed the grill and snapped it off to get access then I just used a long screwdriver to open the mechanism. I'm due MOT tomorrow so I'm fixing it today with an aftermarket one.

Mick thank you so much for sorting that out you are a star. You know a ford garage wanted £280 to do that. Love you bro

That is the first time I have seen a bonnet lock that needs a key. I am used to the pull lever in the car.
Yeah ford have done them for a while now
Super job Mick always good to look after family 👍👍👍👍
Ta Alan mate
My bonnet is currently stuck locked because the lock has failed, but how do you get into the bonnet to replace it please?
You will need to make a tool like I did.. I used a drill paint mixer.. and turned it in to a flat head screwdriver..
If you don't care about the grill or have a spare from scrap yard.. I just grabbed the grill and snapped it off to get access then I just used a long screwdriver to open the mechanism. I'm due MOT tomorrow so I'm fixing it today with an aftermarket one.

What's that other part called the part from Amazon, not the long lock n release part. I might as well buy that part too if it's only £7
The bonnet catch mechanism?
Great repair. Wondering why the first step wasn’t to a locksmith to have the lock cylinder changed to operate with the original key.
Hi John.. it came with a new key.. so no point
Brilliant video Mr Mick, a little job I’ve got to do 👍👍👍
Fantastic.. good luck
Happy as Larry .Good fix .

Whar size is the replacement bonnet release?
What do you mean
@@themowerman the size lock mechanism you replaced for the Ford focus. I've seen one amazon which 25cm. Would you say that is the correct one to buy?

Great job mate.... Is the wired connection only a sensor to show if the hood is locked, or is it for unlocking from a push button inside the car?
