What Supplements I Take In Menopause and Why

- What supplements I take, and why. Before I begin, I want to say that you should be getting the majority of your micronutrients through your DIET! If you don't know how to keep track of your macros and micronutrients, I recommend downloading the Cronometer app or using their web browser version. All of the supplements listed below are stated in this video and go more in-depth on why I love these supplements, so keep watching!
____________Galveston Diet Supplements_______________
FIBER GDX
The main focus is to keep track of your daily fiber intake. A woman should be averaging 25 grams per day. If you notice that you don't reach this amount, I recommend taking a fiber supplement. I created my own called the Fiber GDX. If you want to try this, the link is in the description below.
OMEGA-3 AND VITAMIN D
The next supplements I recommend are Omega-3 and Vitamin D. To sum this up, we as humans typically eat more foods that contain Omega-6, which can cause inflammation. The importance of taking an Omega-3 supplement is to balance out the ratio. Omega-3 is a great supplement to decrease heart disease, improve eye health, and more.
TURMERIC
Next, let's talk about Turmeric. Turmeric is a supplement that increases mental function, acts as an anti-obesity prevention, decreases visceral fat deposition, decreases inflammation, lower hot flashes, prevents osteoarthritis, and increases gut health.

COLLAGEN
Collagen is a great supplement to take to reduce cellulite, decrease the appearance of wrinkles, and prevent osteoporosis.

Vitamin K2 is not Potassium (altho potassium is known as K on the periodic table, they are not the same!) and Vit K2 is VERY hard to get through diet alone. It's critical for this to be understood because D3 results in calcium being available, which critical to preventing osteoperosis. VITAMIN K2 as MK7 IS WHAT ENSURES CALCIUM GOES TO BONES. WITHOUT K2 THE CALCIUM STAYS IN THE VASCULAR SYSTEM AND CAUSES CALCIFICATION.
The reason I know this is because as a T1D I've taken D3 for decades. I was never told about K2. At age 63 I got a kidney transplant & in imaging before the transplant I was told I have a lot of calcification in my vascular structures, especially on the left where they typically put a transplant. As a result, the surgeon told me he wanted to put my kidney on the right, which would rule out the potential for a pancreas transplant.
So anyone taking D3, which most have insufficient vitamin D, K2 as MK7 should be taken along with it. It's essential to ensure the calcium goes to the bones rather than staying in the vascular system where it causes peripheral and arterial calcification.
Which brand do you recommend?
How did the transplant go?
Hat mich auch gewundert das Sie K2 weglässt. Sie müsste eigentlich wissen wie wichtig diese Kombination ist. Hatte mir auch eine Hypercalzemie zugezogen ohne K2

Thanks for sharing! Magnesium is also important. I just want to know about Vitamin K1?
I bought the program in September, and I honestly was skeptical because I had already been watching my macros since July, I thought. However, after following the program for 6 weeks, I’ve lost 9lbs, 7inches, sleep better, feel better-I’m convinced!

I will have to get your book. I am 72 years old. When I went into menopause I thought great!, no more periods. No body told me about mood swings, pain in my hips, hot flashes etc. The medical establishment did not prepare us women back in the day. I am into healthy eating and supplements. Thanks for valuable information regarding health.
54 yr old here and nothing has changed. No warmings, no preparation. Why is this still so secretive?!? Stumbling through day by day trying to figure this new body out.

I am a provider and also do a lot of research. You are certainly the real deal and know how to break it down for the layman. Great job! I so enjoy watching your videos!
I have never used TikTok and never plan to. I'm glad I found you on TH-cam. I hope you keep using this platform as well.

TikTok is great! I learn so much. Don't believe the political b.s.
Great you are writing a book. When pregnant, we were all reading “what to expect while you are expecting “. This is needed
PLEASE do write the book on menopause. I’m post-menopausal and would love for you to include info on that, too.
Thank you for all the info! I’ve been incorporating several of your ideas and they’ve helped tremendously! I’m also sharing the info with friends dealing with all the same issues! Keep posting videos to keep us all educated and motivated 😊
Yes, I'm suffering so badly, hot flashes, knot on shoulder, brain fog, hip hurts constantly, hernia with a list of problems that have nothing to do with my looks, I'm tired all the time and barely work my job like when I was 35. Again I'm in the southern Indiana region and anything you can give us to use as tools for our doctors will be very beneficial, thank God for you.
I adore your authenticity & candor. You seem so down to earth. I so appreciate what you are doing to advocate for aging women
I’m going to share your information with my 4 sisters age 45, 54, 56, & 60. Thank heaven for you🎉
Right, cause no one ever talks about these issues.🙄
Thank you so much for all you do for us women! I have seen a female gyno my entire life, but she never prepared me for perimenopause. I did not even know it was a thing! I was already in menopause before I found out about perimenopause and had suffered for years. I found your videos a few months ago and went on HRT because of them. In the US doctors do not give any support for HRT. So I have been suffering needlessly. I thank you for your videos because they are helping so much.
That’s awesome about the menopause tool kit book! 👏 Yes! Yes! Yes! Keep us posted! So excited!
Your inflammation quiz is so helpful! Thanks for sharing that with everyone.
Every time I watch you I wish you were my menopause doctor.
You have taught me so much and continue to. Thank you. ❤
I can't thank you enough for being so open and honest with us 💞🎉
Yes, full meno as my 50th bday. Also, was in major depression, head injuries from concussion the same year. Pushed me to short term disability for 90, then was pushed off my job after going back with loss of skillsets, 90 days and gone. I was 52. 3 wks before Covid, Unemployment shut down, and l was not going well at interviews. I am now on my SSDI. Ready to be feeling better with less stress of working. Very grateful.
3 years I suffer like crazy from the symptoms of menopause. It got me to a point where I got so sick and they just try to give me so many medications with side effects and all that and the migraines and now I got it. I want Daisy back and you're bringing her my angel. Thank you doctor
Thank you so much for you very extensive research and fact based advice . I feel like my physicians have not really met my needs and I feel miserable. Thank you for sharing all your hard work.❤️
Every video I watch gets me closer to coming to see you. I am in Dallas. I would buy the menopause book! I have just started the intermittent fasting each night. I am starting slowly, 13 hours the first couple days. I am going to work each day a little more until I get to 16/8.
Thank you for your video. I also live in Texas, not too far from you. I love this video!!!!!! It comforts me because I lost my mom three years ago and I don’t have anyone to talk to.
Have I told you lately that I love you? Dr. Haver, you are a gift to us women! Thank you for all you do! ♥♥♥
You are helping me save my life. I am grateful for your work and your dedication to helping women with their wellness. I have a favor to ask, although I know you are very busy. I would like to better understand a woman's options when she can afford the food but cannot afford the supplements.
I ask this because I work in economically depressed communities that struggle with weight due to nutritional choices that are cheap and quick to make or eat. I'm helping educate them on nutritional choices that fit their budget and help women avoid diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and many inflammatory issues. As I said, I greatly appreciate your work and would appreciate it if you ever decided to dedicate one show that covered, side-by-side the alternatives to the supplements in food form. Thanks again for your work.
Such a shame she never replied to you in such an important and thoughtful matter. You have my respect for your efforts in trying to help others that cannot afford the food/supplements having a good health!
So excited for menopause book to come into fruition...Sounds like a great layout and resource for women now and in the future
Yay!!!! You're going to write a Menopause book!!!! Love, love, love the info you give us!!!!!!!❤❤❤👏👏👏
She’s mistaken here: 11:30
K2 taken to absorb D3 is a vitamin.
It should not be confused with Potassium (K) which is a mineral.
I understood she said her absorption is good so she doesn't need help with that.
@annenumber11 yes you are ✅️ right ! Not every doc is aware of it I guess. Menaquinone 7( Vitamin K2) and D3 is required for calcium to be absorbed correctly.
Thank you for all the info!!!! I appreciate! I’m going to get the book.
I took steno notes from your videos and whipped it out at my annual well woman exam last week. Here I had been thinking I was crazy w/all these menopause symptoms and I was anticipating some disregard from gyn (from what my friends have relayed to me w/their docs) but she pretty much validated everything and started me on HRT. She spent so much time going over the different types of HRT available. As soon as I finish up the last of my existing supplements, I will be ordering from you. Thank you for your videos!!!

How did you choose the HRT?
I went over all of my symptoms and discussed the different types of HRT w/my GYN and we decided on one. We ended up modifying that a few months in and I am VERY happy w/the HRT I have been on. It does make a big difference. Good luck @@carinrichardson

Hi Dr Mary Claire! Thank you for all sharing all the Medical News to us .Very appreciate ❤
I’m 48 yrs old, I have 4 fibroids in over 5 years. I still follow up with my dr . I would like to ask you : can I take the supplements that u recommend? Is that save & help if I have fibroid?
I really learn so much from your videos and have preordered your book! I definitely think you should write a menopause book! I noticed that your supplements didn’t include calcium. Do some of the other supplements have calcium in them? My doctor recommends 1200 mg daily.
Excellent! Definitely write the book!
❤ that would be an amazing book and so helpful! I am just learning about all of this
I'm so happy I found you! From Chicago!
I Love everything u say my friend is a gyn and agrees all u say I'm taking all the supplements starting next week Thank You !!!!!!!
You are amazing bless you. Unfortunately I live in Europe so it’s hard for me to come see you for a consultation. But I watch your podcasts and they really help. Thank you
Thank you Dr. Claire❤
Her fiber supplement is the best! I have recommended it to so many people and everyone loves it.
Thank you for this video! So very helpful and informative!!! So bummed that nmn has been pulled from amazon!
Hi Dr Claire , I just found your channel , and I find many great information .What do u think about multivitamins? Do u have any recommendations for this supplement? I’m 47 years old woman with pcos and on perimenopause .
More great info from you! Keep it comin'!
Thank you for your information!!!
THANK YOU for admitting how AWFUL the HMO process is for menopausal ladies & for all this wisdom
Take care with turmeric. For whatever reason of individual biology, it caused me vertigo and ocular migraine (both very scary). The first time I took the turmeric capsules, I had horrible vertigo. The second time, I drank an expensive natural tea mix a friend sent... not realizing it had massive turmeric. I thought I was having a stroke when my eye went wonky. In case anyone else has these side effects...I thought I should share.
Check, with a doctor, to be sure it is from that and no other illness.
I add turmeric powder in my foods. I was told it helps with diabetes. I do not know, but did no harm. It is good anti-inflammatory
Be careful taking it with other supplements that thin blood. I take Borion Motion Sickness for vertigo.
Thanks for your advice
Hi,
I totaly agree with you and thank you☺️❤️❤️❤️

Love the idea of the book. What did you do for your hip joint pain btw?

OMG, finally someone who can answer our prayers. In my search for what to do about getting better during my menopause, I came across Dr. Northrup (don't know if this name is correct) and Suzzane Sommers. It was through Suzanne Sommers that I learned about HRT. I thank you for your content. as far as the menopause book. HELL YA. Just so you know I will be sharing you with all the woman I know.
Hi Dr Claire! I just discovered you! I’m 69 & have been on Estrace for 20 years! I’ve found 2 female ob/Gyn who are supportive of my estrogen supplementation when many doctors refused! I have fought for this because I knew I felt healthier & got my waist back! But my weight management is still an issue! Thanks for your great info! ❤️

You are seriously Awesome 🤩 ❤
Thank you Dr. Mary Claire, as always, for educating us. Can softgel capsules be chewed or must they be swallowed. Just wondering and not that I have a swallowing pills issue. P.S. HRT keeps me fresh
Just found your channel and it was just what I needed! Do you know if any doctors like yourself that are in the Cleveland Ohio area? I really need help!
thanks for information
What kind of a program is that? Can you explain? I am a big fan of yours. You save my life. I wish you are here in Vancouver BC Canada. Can you recommend a good menopause specialist in Vancouver, BC Canada? Love you. God bless❤
And don't go nowhere. You have no idea how much you helping us and everything you saying about what doctors are doing to us telling us that we're depressed and giving us stupid medications instead of getting to the core of the problem which is all the symptoms from the menopause and what to do about it. The solution is you're giving us they're helping pharmacare to make the money. Billions❤ You save our lives. God bless you. Daisy from Vancouver, BC Canada. God bless. Love you so much
Usa and Canada have worst doctors. All is money. Serbia its good
Magnesium is one supplement that works well for me, I take the powder form everyday. Thank you for sharing
What brand are you taking?
Shoulder pain also happens in menopause. Higher incidence of shoulder cuff pain, tendinitis in mid age women
I had frozen shoulder as soon as my period stopped. it was awful. however, it is caused by low thyroid in both men and women. now I take thyroid and HRT and no pains anywhere for last 14 years. I am 63
I have on and off shoulder pain, hot flashes, ringing ears, in my 53s currently on my premenopausal syndrome. I'm trying hard everyday to function normally..
Maybe because most sleep on sides hours of being in that position will have consequences.

This new change feels crazy
I'm very curious about taking fiber supplement but I have a question. Is it ok to use Metamucil if I'm taking metformin?
I use a Fascia tool daily. My cellulite is 2/3 smoothed out, it lessened my edema & circulation in my old legs♥️
Which tool are you using? Do u like it?
Is it painful?
Do you use estrogen cream on your face? If so what brand? I'd like to try -- some folks use premarin on their face but it contains a lot of alcohol so would be very harsh on my dry skin.
I wish I could take Tumeric, but on Warfarin and it is told to stay clear of it while on blood thinners. It will raise INR and can cause bleeding.
Thank you I got the magnesium supplement, All Doctors have told me I have to soak in Magnesium Sulfate because there is not one magnesium pill that works. I am 59 and honesty believed it. I am still trying to get estrodial. I love your 🐶 puppy!

I would love for you to talk about thinning hair and hair loss in general. I have never had an issue until now.
Yes denied and actually dismissed telling me that treatment would be too expensive. I never looked back and started supplementing myself with hormones and supplements as you have already suggested.

How do you take the NMN? Do you dissolve it in water or take it with food? And... Is it safe to take with ALL the other supplements?
Please do some videos on nutrition in post menopause.
How many different types of supplement vitamins can we take on a daily basis?
