  • This is the fighter that changed the world. It showed the world a slew of technologies that had never been seen before. As a result, it ushered in a level of air dominance for the US Air Force that has remained unmatched today. The fighter was so groundbreaking, it was universally agreed that it was in a generation of its own. This is the F-22 Raptor, the world’s first fifth-generation fighter.

The Raptor isn't "invisible" to radar. As an air superiority platform, it's designed so that you see the enemy before they see you.

    • @nonamehere9149

No one ever claimed it was “invisible “. Through low IR, RCS, acoustically, the enemy needs to get very close in order to obtain a lock. The f-22’s advanced electronics and radar it can detect and engage any other target long before the enemy knew the raptor was had a clue who was firing at them. The 30year old fighter is still at the top.

When radar thinks you are a bird, then it's not saying you are a F-22.

@nonamehere9149 I mean, it's flown right up next to other pilots in the middle east close enough to where they could bump eachother and they still didn't notice them til they made it apparent they were there.
I'd say that's pretty much invisible, atleast for those aircraft.

That is about the most naive way of looking at the topic I’ve ever heard. The F-22 is an EXCEPTIONALLY capable air superiority aircraft. Just because it hasn’t had the opportunity to shoot down any enemy aircraft, doesn’t mean it isn’t any good at it. The last time a USAF F-15 shot down an enemy aircraft was in 1999 over Yugoslavia, 25 years ago and fully 6 years before the F-22 even entered service. There is a very good reason the USAF just spent nearly $70 million PER PLANE upgrading 125 F-22 Raptors, to keep them light years ahead of the competition.
When the USAF sent FIVE F-15’s up against ONE F-22 in training, the F-15’s never even FOUND the F-22. They didn’t just lose, they lost badly. They were absolutely decimated. And all of the pilots that were flying the F-15’s had experience flying F-22’s, so out of anyone on earth they knew best what the F-22’s weaknesses were. The problem was, it didn’t have any.
