Just keep a copy of Marcus Aurelius' Meditations in your bag/car/wherever and read a few entries whenever you can. It's basically become my 'bible'. Great videos btw
This is what I am doing for 2 weeks. I have just bought Marcus Aurelius' book's aphorism and I carry this book into my bag. I often read this at train or bus etc. It is work for me I feel more peacefully.
*I think that 99.9% of us can just be "stoic" of where we are right now.* We have a phone, a laptop, internet and time to watch TH-cam. My best way to relax is just to stop doing whatever I'm doing and to go outside for a moment. Just having a little walk. Walking is good for you...
I have been living by stoic virtues most of my life without knowing stoicism existed. Learning more affirms my stance and reactions to many situations but also shows me where I need some help. At 57, I am enjoying learning more about how to deal with some aspect that will greatly improve my mindset for the next chapter of my life...I want to stop giving a shit about others.
There's this book wrote by Marc Manson, "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck". It's kinda well known and mainstream but it's a good one. As for me I think is better to focus on what you DO care about, instead of trying to not care about others.
Thank you for the recommendation! I bought the book and really like it: it's simple without the big marketing thing and clear on the subject of the stoicism. A great companion to the everyday life!
Regarding this point around 3:30, I've developed this "game" I play with myself whenever someone does something I don't like. I simply ask myself, "What do I call it when *I* do that?" (BTW, this is also the NAME of the game.) Then I consider if I DO that sometimes. If the answer is, "No, I haven't done that to my knowledge," THEN I may complain. If I HAVE done it ever, then I try to remember WHY I did that. This has helped me broaden my perspectives. I hope this game helps readers. Update: Haha. I watched further and saw the SAME advice is made more elegantly at 4:30... but I'll leave my version up just in case it's easier to remember for someone.
I am autistic and schizophrenic. I have had to be stoic in my life, but it's only in middle age I have come to see the value of it. I heard two quotes from Aeschylus: He who learns must suffer. And: Injustice is the nature of things. I think about this when confronted by challenges in life, and it helps. Everything is a learning experience. Had I know everything at age 25, the rest of my life would be flat. (I also forgot the n on the word 'Known' which would seem to indicate I still have things to learn....).
In some cases it seems to me it is only moral to try and correct another person’s mistake, or to at least gage whether they are open to criticism. It seems self-centered to only try and improve yourself from the mistakes of others.

Yuzan well women are hardwired to be emotional to nurture for her offspring . Nowadays most men my age (20) or just men in general are highly emotional and get triggered easily over things they can’t control . Being able to stay grounded mentally is a big part of being a man. Everything isn’t gonna be the way you want it to be and i finally was able to come into my masculinity. I’m pretty sure women can practice stoicism but true femininity shouldn’t be stoic
@@Ryanrhodes1 Hm. I obviously disagree with you, but you're still very young and have a lot to learn ahead of you. "getting triggered easily over things you can't control" is not part of "true femininity". Having emotional intelligence is not against stoicism.

Stoicism is pretty much the Buddhism of the west. I'm quite sure einzelganger wouldn't see himself in terms of national or ethnic belonging. PS: the guy is Dutch, he might not be familiar with your current political affairs.

Have you ever considered doing audio books? I'd listen for sure
Hi, thank you! As a matter of fact, I have. I'm working on a book and hopefully release it by the end of the summer.

He is super good. Every word delineated and great meaning fleshed out by his readings.
