Jean-Jacques and Alexandre Kantorow interpret Brahms - ARTE Concert

- The father sets the tone, the son takes the solo. In Lausanne, two stars come together on stage who just happen to be from the same family. Jean-Jacques Kantorow, who conducts the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, opens the evening with Camille Saint-Saëns's Symphony n° 2. Alexandre Kantorow then joins him to perform Johannes Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2.

Quelle magnifique lecture de Kantorow père et fils. La ligne mélodique, transmise de l’orchestre au piano est traitée avec une sensibilité exquise, et la magnifique ligne cantilena est juste un délice. Bien sûr, il y a beaucoup de drame et de virtuosité, encore une fois, transmis, puis ensemble, entre cette merveille génétique du partenariat Kantorow. Une gâterie rare, rarement rencontrée. Chapeau bas.
Un evento eccezionale: padre e figlio Kantorow che ci donano momenti di luce, di sorprendente magia. Non ci si stanca di ascoltarli ripetutamente! Quanta poesia, quanto godimento dello spirito! Grazie di cuore!

What a treasured performance of Brahms’ NO 2 by father and son. Both the orchestra and pianist were in sync creating a moving and elegant reading. Genetics are so powerful. The encore, Brahms’ Intermezzo, is played with ravishing beauty. Simply wonderful.
Thanks for the video! How much power, scale in performance, lyricism, skill. Alexandre is one of the best young pianists of our time. And what happiness it is to be with a great father, a like-minded person on stage. Bravo!!!❤❤❤

Plus qu'un accord, une entente, c'est une osmose tout au long de ce n°2 de Brahms, entre orchestre et conducteur (père) et soliste, piano (fils). Il en faut dans cette œuvre longue et difficultueuse.
Ni les uns ni l'autre n'ont failli, pour notre plus grande satisfaction et plaisir d'écoute 👍
Brahms célibataire endurci, n'a-t-il pas eu à l'écoute de ce concert, quelques regrets d'être resté sans progéniture (?)
Son historique ne le dit pas, mais après tout ne vaut-il pas mieux s'endormir sur un regret que se réveiller sur un remord... 🤫
Pour l'intermezzo, merveilleuse composition de Brahms, en dehors de l'exceptionnelle virtuosité bien connue de Kantorow, toujours ce toucher admirable du Français...
