Do you agree with our explanation? How would you define these processes? Let us know in the comments!

Thanks for another great video! One question. Where would you say Lean UX fits in this comparison? Another recipe or app, like a Design Sprint?
Okay, technically that was two questions. Thanks!

Finally, I got my answer. I was so confused about the difference between Design thinking and Design sprint. Thanks a lot for explaining that in a very simple way.

Hey Jonathan, I always love the content you and your colleagues create and share!
And I am sure a lot of people want to know the answers to the questions in this video.
So my attempt to set the record straight about Agile Sprints is meant to be a positive and constructive one.
I was surprised (and maybe disappointed to be frank) to hear you explain agile systems as development systems.
And later on declaring there's no creativity in there (pointing at agile sprints).
In my opinion Agile Sprints are all about value delivery.
And in every sprint there is creativity to assess the problem and to come up with hypotheses for the best solutions as well as ways to validate those hypotheses. Before developing aforementioned solutions.
Also in agile sprints the work is done by self-organising cross-functional teams. I would hope and encourage that those teams breathe design thinking. And this is also something I observe in the teams I train or coach.
Design Sprints, I do love the system of design sprints can co-exist perfectly in an agile organization.
Since it is about solving BIG problems, it fits perfectly in an Agile Portfolio Management Approach. Where the design sprint might answer big questions and validate solutions.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind regards,

I appreciate the explanation. Just i would like to add some hints:
1- The world "Sprint" is a period of time. for Agile sprint and for Design sprint. I mean that we work together on a focused period of time to get some result in both sprints.
2- I think using the likethe 2 words: Product discovery and product delivery will help more. Design sprint is to discover, validate or invalidate ideas, assumptions and Agile sprint is to really deliver a real product.
3- I think the output of the design sprint need to be refined and evaluated (we validate ideas during DS , we focus on parts of the product and not the whole product) to get a prioritised product backlog (we still not have the complete MVP features) , using Agile sprints we will do such a MVPe (Minimal Viable Product experiments and validate again with a developement partners our idea life.

I do not agree with the explanation of an Agile Sprint, assuming you are referring to Scrum. Scrum is a framework for learning and value delivery, not just the latter. If you feel you need design sprints to fill a product backlog for a Scrum team to build, I fear you are missing the point of Scrum entirely.

Nicely explained. Love it. And the best thing is: design thinking isn't necessarily just for problem solving, although that is where it is often applied.

I absolutely love this explanation! I've gone through multiple half-day/ full-day workshops that didn't explain this so clearly! And no - not everyone knows the difference - not even the teachers! These stages are often melted into each other. But having clear distinctions allows for FOCUS, and results that can be carried forward to the next stage without too much ambiguity

Hey! I am really great to find your channel! I have a question, so if design sprint is the way to validate design thinking, what it the another recipe that can be based on design thinking? thank you!

  • @Trazynn

An agile process that doesn't involve the designers also means that the designers aren't involved with the users which means that the whole thing can't take off to begin with.

Why design sprint first? Why not MVP and then design sprint? .... Because MVP is the foundation like target audience and or market, right?
What I mean is what if after MVP the product doesn't need to build an app

    • @jonathancourtney1175

Confused. What’s a backlog? Other than development vs ideation what’s the difference between sprints and agile?

    • @AJSmart
      @AJSmart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Backlog is the lists of tasks and fixes teams need to process in an Agile Sprint! Sprints are a specific recipe of exercises, Agile is a development framework for teams.
