these guys are from dresden not berlin. just saying. and speaking of brass... imho there is currently no better french horn section than that of the berlin phils.

Ormandy's version is the one I first fell in love with. Maybe Sinopoli felt the same. This sounds pretty darn close.

The Tubaplayer Markus Hötzel plays this piece on a 5/4 Kaisertuba from Rudi Meinl. Any other Professional would take the smaller F-Tuba. :D

This finale is mushy, mixed and not crispy... and is way too fast, and even missing some notes, ... but sound at least 95% real. The best are 1. Furtwangler, then 2. Karajan and on third is 3. Thielemann.
On the first is Klaus Tennstedt, please! The recording with Tennstedt in Japan is marvellous!!!
For me, the best director for this piece was Rafael Kubelik :)
