There will be no "Triple Crown" this year because the timing and distance of the races is not traditional. This is an example of holding an event simply to say you held an event. I mean I get that they don't want to kick off the Triple Crown with a bunch of horses coming out lame after just one race but a Belmont Stakes that isn't a mile and a half isn't the Belmont Stakes.
aj gensel yeah I think Belmont was worried only 5 horses would enter, tbh I think we’d have the same winner but it sucks there will forever be the marking next to it since only 3/4 distance was used this year
Charlatan has the usual "puffy ankle" that pops up before they are retired for the good of the horse. Needs so much time off they aren't even thinking Derby, Preakness, nothing. Best thing he's got going right now in his barn is Gamine. She could wind up being his Derby "colt" this year as everything else has Morning Glory Fever and has petered out. He has Cezanne, who could be anything at this point, but has only one maiden race to his credit.
@@CC-xn5xi My understanding is the colt has something going on with one ankle. It isn't chipped but it could become a chip if they don't let up on him and give him time off so the whatever can heal on its own. So the colt is officially out of training for the duration and they are not even talking when he will be back.
Wolf Williams, it is not the horses' fault that we are in a Coronavirus crisis. Any horse, that wins the Triple Crown, will be DESERVING of that honor!😎
Part of the crown is the short time span between races. The horses don't know what the crown is so it's irrelevant to bring them up. This is a created label, for the purposes of acknowledging the three races in their traditional timeline. This is not a Triple Crown year.
@Eddie Coyle, hey dumbo, did you READ my reply to the commenter, Wolf Williams? Apparently, NOT! I said that there will NOT be a Triple Crown winner, this year! You are delusional, because you DO NOT read properly! Now, SHUT UP!
I doubt there will be a Triple Crown winner this year since the Derby has been postponed until September and the Preakness until October. It is difficult for a horse to hold its form for that length of time. Triple Crown Champions are usually trained to reach peak form for a time that covers the three races. This year the schedule is too extended so the winners of the last two legs will likely be outsiders.
Why did nbc add crowd noise with no crowd. Lame. Not a bad coronavirus stakes. Happy for Franco he has been grinding the nyra circuit for a while now. Tap it to win is awful he just got smoked. The top 4 are the best going forward dr post definitely showed big improvement whats gonna hurt these horses is the wait. Long ways away till September.
Duquette Beats, I agree with you, and I am worried about the long wait too.....all the way to September! These horses, have to wait for 2 1/2 months, to compete in the Preakness Stakes!
What's your point? They are racing in the US at most tracks across the country and you can watch and bet on them on TVG. Even Royal Ascot in England didn't have people there but we got to watch the races here.
Just the other day I watched Stradivarius win the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot for the 3rd time. The Gold Cup is a 20F race 2.5 miles. THAT is a horse race. This 9F Belmont is a scamper by comparison.
@@biff5856 I think American horses could benefit by the Euro style of running. Break slow, run slow until the last quarter, then pick up the pace and the horse with the most jet fuel in the tank wins. They don't rocket out of the gate and whip around the turns in the same direction race after training session after gallop. They go both directions and train on different surfaces. They race on softer ground. America is too caught up with hard dirt, speedballs and sprinting. No wonder so many horses break down on US tracks.
Maxfield is out with a busted leg and is not only off the radar, he'll probably be retired. So he's not #1. Never was. As far as "great" is concerned, TTL just won a 9F race. "Great" is Forego, John Henry, Kelso, Citation, Cigar, Sunday Silence, Affirmed, Seattle Slew. Many more. Heck, I'd even rate Canonero II over TTL right now as he accomplished more by this time of the year. TTL is a nice enough colt. But "great"? Not by a long shot.
1-1/8 Miles ! ............ The Belmont is 1-1/2 Miles.........Guess Horse racing has hit the wall too. At 1-1/8 Miles its just another horse race...The Belmont is about endurance, this race was a mere workout. SAD what's happening in this sport
WHAT'S THE EXPTLANATION TO SHORTEN THE RACE BY 3/8 OF A MILE? IT APPEARS THAT THE DR. WASN'T GAINING ON TIZ THE LAW, BUT IT'S NOT A 1 1/2 MILES UNLESS THEY RUN IT. Are they trying to make sure they have a healthy field for the Derby and the Preakness?
4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
Yes. These are still young horses, and none of them have run farther than nine furlongs. Asking them to go twelve at this stage might literally kill them.
Euchre, have you ever been to the race track? I mean right there at the Rail and watch these BIG BEAUTIFUL MAGNIFICENT BEASTS come thundering by you, and even if you only have $ 2 bucks bet on it I guarantee you that you will be screaming your head off for your horse to win. I guess just watching on TV if you don't understand what amazing magnificent, yet so fragile in some ways these creatures are you can't understand. Like most Americans, we don't get Soccer. Just go to the Horse track one time and you will understand.
Appreciate video content! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Riddleagan Profit Key Remedy (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a great one off product for learning how to bet on horses without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my best friend Jordan after a lifetime of fighting got excellent success with it. 😎👍
Who are you to think that you know more about racing than those who decided to shorten the race in the interests of *all* the horses' health and safety? You want spectacle and "history," the commissioners, among other things, at least considered what was best for the horses. Sending relatively green colts out to battle the 1 1/2 could break their bodies or hearts and taking 3/8 off is only sensible. All you dudes should quit yer blubbing "That was no Belmont, 1 and 1/8 my hind foot, no Triple Crown this year!" Maybe not, but we're seeing history being forged out of thin air. We're getting three spectacular races with terrific horses (and no Baffert here...it's like some kind of weird experiment) when other sports have been shut down for months. Just like you should *shut yer goldanged pieholes.*
How does shortening the race really help the forces to stay healthy and safe?? All the same procedures people and Logistics still have to occur I just don't understand please enlighten me
Agreed. I understood why they had to do it. If we didn't have a pandemic we would have had things go off without a hitch. However, since we have a rare bleed-through of seasons (Triple crown, and Breeder's Cup) they don't wanna take the chance of having horses hurt.
If Tiz the Law wins all three triple crown races, there has to be an Astrik behind it. Or all future Belmont Stakes races have to be shortened like this one. He was not tested at 1/1/2 miles for the last race. This was a stupid mistake, there was no reason to run the Belmont stakes first.
The Belmont was always the race that separated the horses. With the shortened race this means nothing and if the horse eventually wins all three races there would have to be an asterisk.
I agree about the asterisk because of the length. But I emphatically do not agree with these entitled couch potatoes who think they know more about racing than those who decided to shorten the race in the interests of *all* the horses' health and safety. Sending relatively green colts out to battle the 1 1/2 could brraj their bodies or hearts and taking 3/8 off is only sensible.

I mean I get that they don't want to kick off the Triple Crown with a bunch of horses coming out lame after just one race but a Belmont Stakes that isn't a mile and a half isn't the Belmont Stakes.
Hey. They are trying. Please give them a break.
aj gensel yeah I think Belmont was worried only 5 horses would enter, tbh I think we’d have the same winner but it sucks there will forever be the marking next to it since only 3/4 distance was used this year
Tiz the Law ran an Awesome race today. One down, two to go.
It was a great race. I had the exacta 5 times. I
Won 68 dollars
1/4-23.11
1/2-46.16
3/4-1:09.94
Mile-1:34.46
Finish-1:46.53
Why was this only 9F? Anyone know?
Great horse.. any kind of sport rite now is uplifting. “ it’s the law”
Were Baffert's horses really injured? Nadal was. I saw the xray. But what's up?
Charlatan has the usual "puffy ankle" that pops up before they are retired for the good of the horse. Needs so much time off they aren't even thinking Derby, Preakness, nothing. Best thing he's got going right now in his barn is Gamine. She could wind up being his Derby "colt" this year as everything else has Morning Glory Fever and has petered out. He has Cezanne, who could be anything at this point, but has only one maiden race to his credit.
@@DoubleDogDare54 Are they actually covering up doping by not racing Charlatan? Because Baffert's under a microscope right now.
@@CC-xn5xi My understanding is the colt has something going on with one ankle. It isn't chipped but it could become a chip if they don't let up on him and give him time off so the whatever can heal on its own. So the colt is officially out of training for the duration and they are not even talking when he will be back.
What rider by manny franco
You cannot award a Triple Crown this year, no way. The "accomplishment" will not be equal to any of the others.
@@wolfwilliams, I was just happy to see some kind of sport, again! But, I don't think that there will be a Triple Crown winner, this year.
@Eddie Coyle, hey dumbo, did you READ my reply to the commenter, Wolf Williams? Apparently, NOT! I said that there will NOT be a Triple Crown winner, this year! You are delusional, because you DO NOT read properly! Now, SHUT UP!
I take it hes a good bet ante post Preakness stakes and breeders cup classic. Any relation of tiznow
Maternal grandsire.
@@DoubleDogDare54 thx
These fools all ready knew who was going to win
RIP my love
Meanwhile, in Europe 12f races are still on every card every day.
They have a different style of running. Different surfaces, different training.
Secretariat é o maior de todos os tempos ....
Corrida pequena 1800 metros
Y el tapapocas? And the mouthcover for those people celebrating?
congratulations NEW YORK
Tiz The Law is undoubtably a great classic horse but I still think Maxfield is #1.
Wonder how off the horses were bc of the unusual setup start? Maybe they thought it was some weird practice instead of the real thing.
Tiz the law . 2020. Belmont stakes.
SALUDOS A MIS JOCKEY DESDE. NEW. JERSEY
1-1/8 Miles ! ............ The Belmont is 1-1/2 Miles.........Guess Horse racing has hit the wall too. At 1-1/8 Miles its just another horse race...The Belmont is about endurance, this race was a mere workout. SAD what's happening in this sport
Miss the Walk of the horses to the gate. Thats where I see whos ready to win.
Yes. These are still young horses, and none of them have run farther than nine furlongs. Asking them to go twelve at this stage might literally kill them.
Tiz the law is the best horse I’ve seen in a while. I think he’s gonna win the derby
Tiz the law perfefct horse .
I don’t know why horse racing is so interesting
Well, it’s a lot more exciting than more “common” sports like football or golf
Euchre, have you ever been to the race track? I mean right there at the Rail and watch these BIG BEAUTIFUL MAGNIFICENT BEASTS come thundering by you, and even if you only have $ 2 bucks bet on it I guarantee you that you will be screaming your head off for your horse to win. I guess just watching on TV if you don't understand what amazing magnificent, yet so fragile in some ways these creatures are you can't understand. Like most Americans, we don't get Soccer. Just go to the Horse track one time and you will understand.
Every single horse a descendant of Secretariat. That is something you don't see every race.
Time to open up the track to the public
DIOS LOS BENDIGGA A TODOS Y LOS CUIDDE
Scripted 201 should have been the name of the winning horse...
Shattered Secretariat's record....Joking of course.....
good one. Zach.
An asterisk or a footnote of some kind will be used.
No he didn't secretariat has the bemont 1 1/8 mile record too
@@jamescheff3160, 😂😂😂!👍
Not the same distance
It’s great to the colts get to run but doesn’t seem the same. Hopefully next year will be a better year for racing. But they only get to be 3 once.
Sole Volante really disappointed and ran a miserable race--his jockey didn't help either.
I don’t know if Rosario did not help , but sole volante was disappointing
Hes talking all before him including breeders cup 2020
Let’s see the crowd
All 100 of them
James Cheff yea I thought so. Imagine all of the young men and women that might not ever get the chance to see their dreams come true.
Oh my god, coronavirus isn’t gone, quarantine isn’t lifted, let’s respect that, k?
Will the Derby be run at 1 mile and Preakness 7 Furlongs?
DERBY AND PREAKNESS ARE STILL THE SAME
Tiz wins as much the best.
..."awesome".😎💓😍🇺🇸👊
Belmont stake alway mile and half why this year is not mile and half ?
One day I will seat at the back of a horse...
YAWN. The Belmont is just another sprint race. Fix this for next year, NYRA. We need at least one of the Triple Crown races to test for stamina.
Deblasio: "Twas the the law".
Kara Amundson, great comment, and I agree with you 1000%!👍🤗
How does shortening the race really help the forces to stay healthy and safe??
They must've taken a big chunk of track out. Secretariat would've won this in 1:02, easy. He'd lap this field.
@@karaamundson3964 they run the races every year Kara so why in 2020 are they just now taking these green horses into consideration? aren't 3 year olds green every year they run in the Derby Preakness and Belmont why the sudden change now

That horse is going to be pulling in those FAT STUD FEES!
