      He was soo careful to wear the gloves and then he takes them off right before he goes to open the door to leave the apartment leaving his fingerprints behind at the scene. I guess he isn't wearing gloves to prevent leaving behind fingerprints but instead that he is wiping down surfaces that had drugs on them and he didn't want the stuff on his skin.

    2:24 "Think hard, your freedom depends on it." I don't know why, but when I rewatched the series that line made me chuckle. It's just such a Mike thing to say. I know Saul was originally supposed to be in this scene and he could've said any of this dialogue just the same, but Jonathan Banks really made this small role his own. I'm so glad Vince made Mike a main character after this.

    • @lobardodelainternet4253
      @lobardodelainternet4253 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Personally, I don't think these dialogues would fit as well with Saul, because he's a bit too silly for a scene where we got a traumatized and depressed Jesse. Mike's way of handling things feels more serious, so it doesn't come as a detriment to Jesse's feels.

    • @henrypeters5291

      @@lobardodelainternet4253 Yeah, a lot of time they write or change dialogue to fit the character. That said, Vince has said that when Saul would have gone down a much darker path had Bob Odenkirk been available for this scene.

    • @EncryptedLiberty
      @EncryptedLiberty 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      I think orignally this scene was more in keeping with the earlier episodes' tone. The juxtaposition of silliness with the darkness of the criminal underworld. One could imagine a frantic, energetic, slightly exasperated Saul running around hastily grabbing stuff and shoving it in a bag. Finally turning to Jesse to do the part he's good at--telling him what to say and what not to say. Becoming flustered that Jesse is basically shut down, giving him a goofy and well-meaning, but generally inappropriate speech to console him/pep him up. Then giving up when Jesse only returns a baffled expression, making Jesse say the line he's supposed to say, and leaving just as quick as he came.
      Banks, of course, has a wildly different tone that is more respectful of the gravity of the moment for Jesse. It gives the whole show a different tone, and may have been a major turning point for the show to veer even deeper into drama and away from dark comedy.

    He then conspicuously dropped them afterwards, presumably when they had a better idea of who Mike actually was and realised he didn’t need to wear sunglasses everywhere to be intimidating, but it is a nice bit of continuity to show he was wearing them until that the end of S2 regardless.

      I think that has something to do with it. Both times Mike wears the sunglasses,he's in PI/fixer mode for Saul. He's showing up to clean up
      an OD scene,or he has Walter White and Jesse under observation to provide background info for Saul to approach them and eventually
      introduce them to Gus. In those cases, Mike is more concerned with being tied to a location by witnesses. In most other instances,
      Mike is in some kind of tactical situation, dealing with the Salamancas, or Walter White. He's going back to his Vietnam days when
      US troops on the ground didn't wear sunglasses in the field.
