      @@Genesis1music gale was willing to kill Walt to get the lab. Gale was not innocent. He was "in the game". He was fair game. Gale has multiple chances to warn Walt and switch sides and didn't. Gale knew Gus was going to kill them both, he even debated telling Walt a couple times.

    Re-watching this scene makes me think of a Mike scene from Better Call Saul when he's talking to Pierce. "I didn't say you were a bad guy, I said you were a criminal".
    Gale never accepted his role as a criminal. He thought he was just a chemist, that he wouldn't get involved with the grittier aspects of the business, that he could live a normal life outside of the lab. But he ignored his phone, he just carelessly opened his door, and didn't immediately have suspicions of this complete stranger who shows up at his door.

    I think Walt was genuienly scared and had no option until he came up with the idea that he could call Jesse. Once he sees that Mike turns his head when he mentions Jesse Pinkman, Walt confidently gets closer and says"like you said he's always been the problem" and feels comfortable enough to try to weasle his way out of this, and his following stutter shows how scared he is, fantastic acting and scene.

    At 3:40, Gale points the laser thermometer at the kettle symbolizing the laser of a sniper and how he is being targeted. This might seem like a MASSIVE stretch. Except in the next scene right after you see that Jesse's bullet passes through Gale and lands right on the kettle where the laser was being pointed.

    3:39: You can't use the laser bolometer (thermometer) that way, shooting directly on the stainless steel of the kettle, because stainless' emissivity is way lower than the 0.95 or so the device is calibrated to. You could paint a black spot on the kettle and shoot at that. Plus, why would he need to measure the temp, when he knows that the water is boiling (from the whistle), and that boiling point is pretty near 100C for the altitude of that location. If the character is a chemist, he'd probably know that.

      @@Luca-dk9we I’d say 20% genius, 80% luck. Granted, he had a plan, and a good one. But the facts are: when someone calls you, most of the times you answer immediately or return the call in a couple of minutes. Having the music loud, having the cellphone in silence, while he knew that Jesse was going to Gale’s house but he wasn’t gonna make it there in a minute or two, chances are that Gale would have answered the call, get out of there, Jesse would have arrived to an empty house or being ambushed, and Walt would have been killed. Good plan, but relying on luck a little too much considering his life was at stake (and he behaved like a badass).
      I’m not complaining, the scene is very good. It’s just that I always found Walt’s attitude to be too calm and confident when there were more chances that his plan would fail than succeed. And he should have been nervous also because he knew Jesse wasn’t a killer, there was a chance that Jesse wouldn’t have been able to do it, or hesitate until Victor arrived. He saw Mike immediately picking up the cellphone and calling Gale, and he was all gangsta right there when he should have been sh*tting his pants (BTW, I would have loved too see his face if Gale would have answered).
      But like someone else said here, plot armor is serious business.

      He was acting like that because Jesse could get to Gale quickly as proven by the insane lead he had on Victor. He basically won when he was able to sic Jesse on Gale, even if Gale got the call and retreated, Jesse likely could have ambushed him before he got in the car.

    • @DollarDude

      Seems to me that the plan could have failed at so many points:

      - If Gale wasn't home
      - If Gale heard his phone ring

    God, this was almost the most blue-ball causing season finale until Hank read the book. At the time, I had no idea season 5 was being split in two, so I thought I'd only be waiting a week for it to continue. I went through all five stages of grief when I learned season 5B wouldn't be airing until the next year.

    In hindsight it was stupid of Gus to try to kill Walter. Jesse was the one who started this whole thing and Walter was just protecting him.
    Gus had the option to kill those dealers but he couldn’t have anything interfere with his business and revenge plan so he figured he just go with original plan and use Gale.
    People hated Walter for doing getting Gale killed, but it was the thing they could do. They couldn’t go to the cops; they couldn’t run away, they had to do this just to buy some time to defend themselves against these people.

    • @laurent4533
      @laurent4533 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Gus had started to build the lab far before Walter was even an asset to him; he wasn’t needed, and unlike others, he was a liability. Gus had a suitable replacement, Gale, and had this not happened, Gus would be able to build up his empire with someone far more reliable. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

    • @masterzombie161
      @masterzombie161 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@laurent4533 I know that, I saw better call saul and understand full well Gus must be extremely careful not to draw attention of the cartel. However that being said Gus still needed someone to run the lab efficiently enough to make the cartel want Gus, so Gale is the one who insisted they hire Walt and he did so regardless of the Risks involved.

    • @lqlaliut897
      @lqlaliut897 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Very true. It was even more stupider of Mike, "the head of security" for Gus to not keep watch over Gale, especially when they were planning to replace Walt with Gale.
      Gus should not have forced Gale to figure out Walt's formula in such an obvious way, and Gus has no right to try to kill Jesse and call Walt for being irrational and unprofessional when he was using Tomas as a child drug dealer and the drug dealers killed him. Gus's shortsightedness and his anger became his own undoing when in fact, if he had let bygones be bygones, he could have had a good business deal with Walt.

    • @CM_Jacopo

      Gus was stupid because he wanted to revenge the two dealers. He should had put Gale with Walt without Victor watching and listening everything.

    • @masterzombie161
      @masterzombie161 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lqlaliut897 true and again it’s all because Jesse was stealing meth from Gus to sell at a meth clinic where he would discover Combo’s killers. He didn’t even need the money, he just wanted to feel big and thus almost got himself and Walter killed.
