I'm so happy to learn about heating to evaporate the alcohol! Tinctures are so good, an the option to take a small amount and evaporate the alcohol, and storing in the refrigerator, 'as needed', never crossed my mind. What a GOOD idea. Thank you! God Bless
I'm a diabetic trying to go keto (ish). I'm also having a hard time finding things like stevia here in Ukraine, but the quest goes on and I have some leads. We also have a (wannabe) homestead in Maine and will be trying to grow this and other herbs and veggies this summer (our first year together on our farm). Call it "the unction" but I decided to start searching for stevia here at YTU and yours was one of the first channels to come up. So glad I stopped by for a visit. A beautiful and unashamed Godly woman and spot on advise and homestead howto to boot. You are a true Blessing. SUBBED Tim & Irina
So pleased with the results of this extract process. Made about a quart of stevia extract from 4 oz. of dried stevia. Nasty green color but works great for my tea and homemade Greek yogurt. ordered dropper bottles from amazon to dispense my stevia extract. I saved the soaked stevia leaves to try adding to dried green tomato artisan bread . . . just for fun. thank you.
I am just exploring using stevia and Christa's sharing is so insightful down to earth and easy to follow. A joy to listen to her as her voice is so warm and the fact she asks to inspire others is truly remarkable not to mention using scripture verses. Thank you Christa for taking time to produce such videos.
Thank you for the video. I spend a fortune purchasing liquid stevia. I am ordering seeds to grow it, but, for now I am going to purchase some dried leaves and try to make my own. I love your videos!
I'm highly allergic to any type of alcohol... Every time I drink it I have very bad things happen. Mentally, physically, and spiritually... :0( I praise God for setting me free of a 43 year addiction to alcohol. It's been 16 years and counting since Jesus set me free and gave me a brand new life. And HE has taught how to handle life's upsets without booze. It hasn't been a easy road to walk on, BUT I know Jesus is right beside me while I'm going through the rough times. Trust you me there have been a lot of rough times. God never promised us a easy road, but HE did promise to be right there with us as we walk the road called life... Be blessed.... BBE..
She went to great lengths to emphasize that the alcohol is evaporated OUT of the liquid. Unfortunately, the only thing that "virtue-signaling" alkies can hear is VODKA. Rational people who are alcoholics, know the difference between the alcohol in a bottle of cough syrup and a three day bender.
@@fazbell No, she said boiling off the alcohol was an option. With the alcohol, the extract is shelf stable, and without the alcohol it must be refrigerated.
You are a blessing. I just got 40 plants of Stevia to plant in my greenhouse. Can't wait to come back and share my experience.Great videos you put out!
Christa, I can't find the video where you say that people have told you that "firstly" is not a word, but I want to let you know that "firstly" is a valid word ('nextly' is not, though!) and you just keep on sharing that! Your demeanor, presentation, and knowledge are top quality, and I enjoy learning from you. Keep up the great work!
This was such a neat informative video. Thank you! And, whoa! I didn’t know you were also a Bible Believer. I love that you shared verse from the Holy Scriptures. God bless you.
You are a piece of heaven, thank you so much I’ll do this for my mom to use it, she has diabetes so Stevia is better for her, I don’t think the tiny bit of vodka will interfere with the sugar right? Thanks a lot, greetings from Southamerica 🌹🌹🌹💥
I just spent $9 a couple of weeks ago for raspberry chocolate stevia from Azure. But I love it in my afternoon Teecino! Thanks for the advice, I'll see if Azure has stevia leaves so I can try this! God bless you! Love Isaiah, and so blessed by the scriptures!
Hi Christa, As always, another great video. I have learned so much from you and will definitely be making the Stevia extract. I'll start small - as you recommend. I have been buying it to use in iced coffee but now this is going to be a great savings. And...Oh my goodness what a small world it is. As Cheri shared with you - she and I are FB friends. I was shocked when she mentioned your channel - and she was equally surprised when I told her that yours is my favorite channel!! You provide such wonderful content - and I really appreciate your bible readings. They are so up-lifting!! Thanks for all you do and continued success. Love, Mary
Ok i did the leaf with vodka and didn like it but kept stevia and put some in jar and added tea with water and put it n fridge and i got sweet tea. Love it
Thanks so much for this video. I have a stevia plant but did not know how to get it in liquid form. I have made vanilla extract with vanilla bean and vodka. It is the same process.
Just curious... if I do the method of removing the Alcohol could I freeze it afterwards to keep it for a longer shelf life? Love your channel....God Bless
Mary, I haven't tried that, but it would stand to reason that that would be a great way to lengthen the shelf life a good while! If you try it, check back in and let us know how your results turn out!
Thank you for the information I have subscribed and hit the Bell button you caught my interest my stevia plant is very large I was curious on how to process it
I wondered the same thing and found the answer to our question on this site www.leaf.tv/articles/how-do-i-remove-the-alcohol-from-drinks/-Bring the liquid to a simmer then adjust the heat as necessary to keep your beverage simmering gently. Do not boil the drink, as this will cause too much of the liquid to evaporate before the alcohol burns off and you will be left with an empty pot. I hope this helps you as much as it did me. God bless 🙏👍💕✝️
For an easy adult dessert, fill a jar with cherries and vodka. Keep in fridge. Use on desserts or just have a few for a quick snack on a stressful day. Keep out of reach of children.
You can also soak your cherries in red wine. My mother-in-law soaked peach slices in the red wine. She was Italian. She served a little bowl of sliced peaches in red wine with Sunday dinner.
Thanks for showing me how to make stevia extract so easy. I was making mine like a tincture. I was soaking it for 6 weeks with vodka with no problems and after taste. Any how will try your way from now on.God bless.
1) You mentioned the non-alchol process provides 3-5 month shelf life, but th pop up in the video says 3-5 weeks? 2) Please update your product link for the leaves, All I'm finding are 'teas', is this the same? Thank you :) Soli DEO gloria!
Here in deep South of Mississippi (zone 8 b) mine will freeze down in winter and come back in spring with nothing extra being done to it. Probably froze last night:( With the grand solar minimum bringing colder winters I will bring some into the greenhouse to try to be sure I keep some going.
Here in Sacramento I have had a stevia pot for 3 years in a pot under a camellia tree. We got down to freezing last night and quite a few times in last years, my stevia plant just keeps growing.
Love learning about canning . My mom did this as we were growing up . Her family was from Norway and this is how the preserved fish , ect . Preparing to do this myself . BTW , my maiden name was Swartz . My dad's family was from Kansas . Cousins in different areas 😊 Could be kin somehow ? Love your endings with God's word
Stevia-based sweeteners are calorie-free and have been shown to have little to no impact on blood sugar, making them excellent sugar substitutes for people with diabetes. It's the same for monk fruit sugar. I'm also diabetic.
Hello. I actually have a stevia plant that I grew this summer and haven't done anything with it yet. Is there a reason I couldn't use the fresh leaves with the vodka and not dehydrate the leaves first? Would I obtain the same results? Thanks. Just found your channel today. Very useful video. Thanks.
It is easier to use 97% Reb A powder, water and grain alcohol. The resultant liquid can be twice as sweet as sweet leaf. Just use 3-6 grams of Reb A powder to 1.5 ounces 80 proof vodka. You can dilute it with a few more drops of water since the best solubility is 30% alcohol. 80 proof vodka is 40%. I use grain alcohol/water since I always have it on hand for other uses. Easy. One 100 gram bottle of Reb A powder yields 25 ounces of liquid or 6 bottles of Sweet Leaf. Approximately $7 per bottle.
So the stevia becomes bitter after 48 hours in the absolute vodka , then would the stevia you stashed back in the fridge and cook down later be bitter as well ?
ImmaLiving Again me too. I’ve watched YT videos where people just use it in liquids. I’ve made liquid Sucralose by adding boiling to that powder (12g per 100cc). I’m going to experiment with doing it like that, but in the future I’ll buy the ground leaf. 🙏👍💗✝️🔥Yahshua
Hey sis!! This is so perfect!!! I've always wanted to know how to do this!!! I'm so grateful for this video ..I can't wait to try it!! I have a couple of questions please? What size Sweet Leaf bottle is that? I've never bought one larger than 2 oz. and the bottle you are holding looks larger than that? My second question is, do you think we could add flavoring to them from Vanilla or different flavored extracts? I love the flavored ones, especially the Raspberry flavor that I can't get too often from Amazon from a company in Iceland called "Good Good". They have raspberry, strawberry and grape, but it's my favorite because I don't taste any bitterness at all in those products, even though I like Sweet Leaf Stevia drops and buy those too. Thank you!!
I made the stevia extract and it doesn't sweeten much. How much does everyone add to a cup of coffee? -- just curious. I will definitely go back and burn off the alcohol. We never drink and aren't used to that strong taste anymore, and even a drop tastes a bit like Nyquil.
K D-B, you shouldn't be tasting anything like nyquil. Keep in mind that the longer you leave the leaves sit in the Vodka, the more bitter it will become. Also, make sure to keep the heat very low when "burning" off the alcohol. Simmer it very low and slow or you will ruin it. I hope you have good success!
Great video. It seems to me that it is a waste to throw that used stevia out. I would use it for second batch. Maybe won't be as strong but still good.
I'm so happy to learn about heating to evaporate the alcohol! Tinctures are so good, an the option to take a small amount and evaporate the alcohol, and storing in the refrigerator, 'as needed', never crossed my mind. What a GOOD idea. Thank you! God Bless
You can add a small amount of cinnamon to the dry stevia for a different flavor and medicinal value
